  • In this paper, reactorless high efficiency boost DC/DC converter for EV is proposed. In proposed converter, improves efficiency because decrease power loss when the switches are turned on/off using zero current switching (ZCS) at all switch of primary full bridge. By replacing reactance ingredients of L-C resonance circuit for ZCS with leakage inductance ingredients of high frequency transformer, it reduces system size and expense because of not add special reactor. For validity verification of proposed converter, in the paper implements simulation using PSIM and perform experiment by making 5KW DC/DC converter. In experimental results, efficiency of proposed converter conformed superiority.

  • This paper is described an expert system which performs the network reconfiguration in order to operate distribution systems optimally using heuristic rules. The proposed network reconfiguration is able to not only eliminate abnormal states such as overload of transformers/lines and low voltage violation, but also achieve minimum power loss and optimum load balancing under normal states. In order to apply the network reconfiguration efficiently, an expert system is adopted a best-first tree searching strategy on the basis of heuristics, and is implemented in AI language Turbo PROLOG. Several examples are used to illustrate concepts described above.

  • Calcaneal fractures account for 2% of all fractures and approximately 60 to 70% of tarsal fractures. These fractures typically are the result of high-energy injury, such as a motor vehicle accident or a fall from a height. The potential for disabling malunion following intrarticular displaced calcaneal fracture is high, regardless of treatment. Fracture displacement typically results in loss of hindfoot height, varus and widening of the hindfoot, with possible subfibular impingement and irritation of the peroneal tendon and/or sural nerve. Frequently, subtalar joint develops posttraumatic arthritis. In symptomatic patients with calcaneal malunion, systemic evaluation is required to determine the source of pain. Nonsurgical treatment, such as activity and shoe modification, bracing, orthoses, and injection, is effective in many patients. Surgical treatment may involve simple ostectomy, subtalar arthrodesis with or without distraction, or corrective calcaneal osteotomy. A high rate of successful arthrodesis and of patient satisfaction has been reported with surgical manamgent.

  • According to the traditional Korean medicine (TKM), kidney has been recognized as the roof of innate endowment because it plays an important role in the birth, growth, sexual reproduction, and aging. Kidney essence insufficiency syndrome (KEIS) is caused when kidney is impaired. KEIS is characterized by retarded development, decreased reproduction, tinnitus, loosening of teeth, and loss of hair and forgetfulness. In traditional Chinese medicine, KEIS mouse model was established by use of threatinjuring the kidney combined with over-fatigue. However, the TKM theory-based KEIS experiment model has not been described correctly. In the present study, we suggest a new KEIS experiment model including following cases; 1) weakness of father essence and mother blood, 2) life nurturing during pregnancy, 3) full-term gestation period.

  • Degenerative retinal diseases affect millions of people worldwide, which can lead to the loss of vision. However, therapeutic approaches that can reverse this process are limited. Recent efforts have allowed the possibility of the stem cell-based regeneration of retinal cells and repair of injured retinal tissues. Although the direct differentiation of pluripotent stem cells into terminally differentiated photoreceptor cells comprises one approach, a series of studies revealed the intrinsic regenerative potential of the retina using endogenous retinal stem cells. Muller glial cells, ciliary pigment epithelial cells, and retinal pigment epithelial cells are candidates for such retinal stem cells that can differentiate into multiple types of retinal cells and be integrated into injured or developing retina. In this review, we explore our current understanding of the cellular identity of these candidate retinal stem cells and their therapeutic potential for cell therapy against degenerative retinal diseases. • This study investigates the stress at gear by modelling differential gear and using FEM. When gear is driven under power, high equivalent stress of 1596.2MPa is occurred at the stationary shaft. Maximum equivalent stress of 1596.2MPa is also occurred at the bottom and root of tooth and its fatigue life becomes 12.4 as the shortest cycle. As much as it becomes away from the center of gear, the maximum deformation becomes occurred. As exact power is delivered with the precise design of gear, the loss of power energy can be decreased.

  • Ion mobility mass spectrometry (IM-MS) combines the advantages of ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) and MS for effective gas-phase ion analysis. Separation of ions based on their mobilities prior to MS can be performed without a great loss in other analytical figures of merit, and the extra dimension of analysis offered by IM can be beneficial for isomer and complex sample analyses. In this review, basic principles of IMS and IM-MS are described in addition to an introduction to various IMS techniques and commercial IM-MS instruments. The nature of collision cross-section (${\Omega}_D$), an important parameter determining the transport properties of ions in IMS, is also explained in detail.

  • Food production is a major role of agriculture. It has been projected that the world population continues to increase by the middle of the 21st century, and the population growth results in raising a serious problem of food shortage. Thus we have to increase food as possible. A considerable amount of crops have been abandoned due to short-life after postharvest. Ethylene is a factor responsible for the postharvest loss in crops, especially horticultural crops. If we can reduce ethylene production or sensitivity by genetic engineering, we can develop, so called,“long-life crop”conferring long postharvest lives. During last two decades, intensive research for molecular dissection of ethylene biosynthesis has been carried out, and the researchers have succeeded in engineering ethylene productivity in some crops. On the other hand, after the successful isolation of Arabidopsis ethylene receptor gene ETR1, the homolog genes have been isolated in various plant species. Currently the characterization of these genes and alteration of ethylene sensitivity using the genes are in progress. This review summarizes current progress in the analysis of these genes, and discusses genetic engineering of ethylene sensitivity using these genes.

  • The incidence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), especially Crohn disease, in children is remarkably increasing in Korea. Therefore, it is necessary for pediatrician to be aware of the initial presentation of Crohn disease and ulcerative colitis. Laboratory tests, radiologic studies, and endoscopic procedures are helpful in differentiating between them. At the time of presentation, most of children with IBD have abdominal pain, diarrhea, hematochezia and/or weight loss. However, atypical presentation of these diseases may contribute to a delay in diagnosis.

  • This paper presents a reverse engineering method for compound surfaces using vision system. A CNC machining center is used as a measuring station, which is equipped with slit beam generator and vision probe. Since obtained data using slit beam or laser scanner may have much data loss along the edge of compound surfaces, an algorithm is presented in this study to recover missing geometric data at such region. First, b-spline interpolation is applied to extract edge information of the surface, and as a next step, b-spline approximation is applied to recover the missing geometric data. Finally, b-spline skinning method is applied to regenerate the surface information. Appropriate simulation and experimental works are preformed to very the effectiveness of the proposed methods.
