  • The authors report a unique case of unilateral Moyamoya disease with a rare combination of arteriovenous malformation (AVM) who presented with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). A 50-year-old man suffered from sudden onset of mental deterioration and right hemiparesis. Brain computed tomography (CT) showed intracerebral hemorrhage on left thalamus. Brain CT angiography and cerebral digital subtraction angiography (DSA) revealed AVM combined with unilateral moyamoya disease involving left middle cerebral artery (MCA) and choroid plexus in left lateral ventricle. Intraventricular hemorrhage and hydrocephalus were managed conservatively. A rare case of unilateral Moyamoya disease accompanied by a cerebral arteriovenous malformation is described and discussed with review of pertinent literature.

  • The Kato-Katz (KK) method is a well-known method of fecal examination for helminthiases. Its diagnostic sensitivity was found very high for clonorchiasis. The present study evaluated the correlation of Clonorchis sinensis egg counts by the KK method with those by direct smear and formalin-ether (FE) technique. The egg counts obtained by the KK method (Y) were correlated with the counts by direct smear (X) with the equation of Y = 659.4 + 0.266X ($r^2$ = 0.738), but not with those by the FE method. The present study demonstrated that the KK method and direct smear were useful for both qualitative and quantitative diagnosis of clonorchiasis, especially in the field.

  • This paper describes a formation of the Mo-silicide on Mo tip to compare the emission characteristics of the Mo tip. Cone-shaped Mo tip arrays were fabricated and silicidized by evaporating a 15nm-thick a-Si film on Mo tip arrays and annealing it in inert ambient at the temperature of $1000\;^{\circ}C$ for 60 sec. The $Mo_5Si_3$ phase of Mo-silicide was observed through X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. Although the gate voltage of the Mo-silicide tip increased by 38 V to obtain the current level of 20 nA/tip, the dependence of emission current on vacuum level was improved.

  • We propose an integrate-and-fire neuron circuit and synaptic devices with the floating body MOSFETs. The synaptic devices consist of a floating body MOSFET to imitate biological synaptic characteristics. The synaptic learning is performed by hole accumulation. The synaptic device has short-term and long-term memory in a single silicon device. I&F neuron circuit emulate the biological neuron characteristics such as integration, threshold triggering, output generation, and refractory period, using floating body MOSFET. The neuron circuit sends feedback signal to the synaptic transistor for long-term memory.

  • In this paper, an output feedback controller is proposed for continuous time-invariant linear systems. The proposed controller, LQ-FIR consists of an LQ control gain and an optimal FIR filter. The LQ-FIR controller is derived, and the stability of the closed loop system is proved. The bounds of parameter variations guaranteeing the closed loop stability are obtained, when the LQ-FIR controller is applied to the system with model uncertainties.
