While high-definition precipitation maps with a 270 m spatial resolution are available for South Korea, there is little information on geospatial availability of precipitation water for the famine - plagued North Korea. The restricted data access and sparse observations prohibit application of the widely used PRISM (Parameter-elevation Regressions on Independent Slopes Model) to North Korea for fine-resolution mapping of precipitation. A hybrid method which complements the PRISM grid with a sub-grid scale elevation function is suggested to estimate precipitation for remote areas with little data such as North Korea. The fine scale elevation - precipitation regressions for four sloping aspects were derived from 546 observation points in South Korea. A 'virtual' elevation surface at a 270 m grid spacing was generated by inverse distance weighed averaging of the station elevations of 78 KMA (Korea Meteorological Administration) synoptic stations. A 'real' elevation surface made up from both 78 synoptic and 468 automated weather stations (AWS) was also generated and subtracted from the virtual surface to get elevation difference at each point. The same procedure was done for monthly precipitation to get the precipitation difference at each point. A regression analysis was applied to derive the aspect - specific coefficient of precipitation change with a unit increase in elevation. The elevation difference between 'virtual' and 'real' surface was calculated for each 270m grid points across North Korea and the regression coefficients were applied to obtain the precipitation corrections for the PRISM grid. The correction terms are now added to the PRISM generated low resolution (~2.4 km) precipitation map to produce the 270 m high resolution map compatible with those available for South Korea. According to the final product, the spatial average precipitation for entire territory of North Korea is 1,196 mm for a climatological normal year (1971-2000) with standard deviation of 298 mm.

Fish pathogens cause not only economic damages to fish farming but also infectious pathogens known as a zoonotic agent. Since the continued use of antibiotics to control fish pathogens entails side effects, materials of natural origin need to be developed. The purpose of this study is to discover coniferous essential oils with excellent antibacterial effects in order to develop antibiotic alternatives. We have extracted essential oils using hydro-distillation from the leaves of Abies holophylla, Pinus thunbergii, Pinus parviflora, Tsuga sieboldii, and Pinus rigitaeda, which are all Pinaceae family. And, we have evaluated antibacterial activity with the extracted essential oils against Edwardsiella tarda, Photobacterium damselae, Streptococcus parauberis, and Lactococcus garvieae, which are fish pathogens. As a result, the essential oils from A. holophylla and P. thunbergii showed the selectively strong antibacterial activity against E. tarda and P. damselae, which are gram-negative bacteria. From GC-MS analysis, it was identified that main component of A. holophylla essential oils are (-)-bornyl acetate (29.45%), D-limonene (20.47%), and camphene (11.73%), and that of P. thunbergii essential oils is α-pinene (59.81%). In addition, we found three compounds: neryl acetate, (-)-borneol, and (-)-carveol, which are oxygenated monoterpenes. These exist in a very small amount but exhibit the same efficacy as essential oil. Therefore, we expect that A. holophylla and P. thunbergii essential oils having excellent growth inhibitory effect against gram-negative fish pathogens can be used as biological products such as feed additives and fishery products.
CdS-QD particles are a nano-sized semiconducting crystal that emits light. Their optical properties show great potential in many areas of applications such as disease-diagnostic reagents, optical technologies, media industries and solar cells. The wavelength of emitting light depends on the particle size and thus the quality control of CdS-QD particle requires accurate determination of the size distribution. In this study, CdS-QD particles were synthesized by a simple ${\gamma}$-ray irradiation method. As a particle stabilizer polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) were added. In order to determine the size and size distribution of the CdS-QD particles, sedimentation field-flow fractionation (SdFFF) was employed. Effects of carious parameters including the the flow rate, external field strength, and field programming conditions were investigated to optimize SdFFF for analysis of CdS-QD particles. The Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis show the primary single particle size was ~4 nm, TEM images indicate that the primarty particles were aggregated to form secondary particles having the mean size of about 159 nm. As the concentration of the stabilizer increases, the particle size tends to decrease. Mean size determined by SdFFF, TEM, and dynamic light scattering (DLS) were 126, 159, and 152 nm, respectively. Results showed SdFFF may become a useful tool for determination of the size and its distribution of various types of inorganic particles.
Construction era of Pungnabtoseong earthen wall is one of the most popular controversial issues in Korean archaeological research. For the evaluation of construction era, OSL dating was carried out using seven pottery pieces collected in each construction stage. From TL/OSL characteristics, and the results of absolute zeroing test and recovery test, it was proved that the pottery samples were completely bleached. The reliable paleodose was evaluated by using the SAR method with preheat at $220^{\circ}C$, and the pottery OSL age was determined from the ratio of paleodose to annual dose rate. Considering the resultant OSL ages, archaeological context and the related 14C ages, the first construction era was determined as $294{\pm}52$ yrs AD ($1{\sigma}$ SE). Also we found that the enlargement of construction stage III was $328{\pm}30$ yrs AD ($1{\sigma}$ SE) and final construction was finished within $400{\pm}76$ yrs AD ($1{\sigma}$ SE). Therefore, it is suggested that the construction of Pungnabtoseong earthen wall was firstly started in the late $3^{rd}$ century AD and several enlargements and repairs had been carried out, before the transfer of the capital of Baekje dynasty to Woongjin (Gongju) at 475 AD.
This test was performed to evaluate the skin irritation and sensitization of Creocomplex, disinfectant, Containing 10% 4-chloro-m-cresol, 10% didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride, and 10% glutaraldehyde. In primary skin irritation test, rabbits were dermally treated with Creocomplex for 24 hrs. The disinfectant did not induce any adverse reactions such as erythema and edema on intact skin sites, but on abraded skin sites, some rabbits showed very slight erythema and edema 24hr after topical application. So, the disinfectant was classified as a practically non-irrifating material based on the score 0.13 of primary irritation index. In the skin sensitization test, guinea pigs were sensitized with intradermal injection of 0.1ml Creocomplex for 24 hr. After 1 week, Creocomplex was treated on the site of injection, and challenged 2 weeks later. Creocomplex did not induce any allergic reactions. Therefore, 10% Creocomplex was graded as a weak material from 0 in both sensitization score· and rate. From results of the present study, it is suggested that 10% Creocomplex does not cause contact irritation and sensitization.

While economic crises are happening internationally due to the global financial crisis and the long-term recession of the domestic economy, South Korea is also experiencing an aging society with the retirement of the baby-boomers and a low birth-rate. The rapid retirement of baby-boomers, which is one of the essential parts of the Korean economy, is ongoing. Consequently, the number of seniors showing interest in entrepreneurship, as a way to avoid the economic threat, is increasing. Therefore, this study examined the correlation between two factors and its success, which can be stated as the influence of decision making in entrepreneurship and the influence of promotion policies to entrepreneurship. A survey was taken from 393 people, who received academic and managerial assistance from the Senior-Founded Support Center of Small Business Market Corporation and Adults Incubators of Seoul-Business Agency. and 'Hypothesis 1-1' and 'Hypothesis 2-2' were selected, because a positive effect was derived at each verification process. As a result, under the decision making types of entrepreneurship, only a reasonable type showed a positive effect at both the financial outcome and non-financial outcome of success, and the intuitive type was affected positively by the non-financial outcome. In addition, under the entrepreneur supporting business, among financial support, managerial support and educational support only managerial support had a positive effect.
The purpose of this research study is to analyze the influence on the necessity of establishment of eco-friendly hospital by evaluating hospital employees' awareness and their satisfaction level of working environment. Questionnaire investigation was conducted in April 2014 throughout five different medium-size hospitals in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Chungcheongbuk provinces. 213 sets of survey were used to conduct Frequency Analysis, T-test, Dispersion Analysis(ANOVA) and Structural Equation Modeling Analysis. The research concluded that employees with higher level of education, working position and longer term of working experience were more aware about Eco-friendly hospital. In addition, male, doctor, and employees with higher level of education and working position were more satisfied with their working environment. And male, employees with higher level of education and working position were more aware about necessity of establishment of eco-friendly hospital. According to the Structural Equation Modeling Analysis, the awareness of Eco-friendly hospital and the satisfaction level of working environment were the varying factors that influence the necessity of establishment of Eco-friendly hospital. Therefore, it is crucial for hospitals that are preparing for establishing Eco-friendly hospital to raise employees' level of understanding of Eco-friendly hospital and their working environment satisfaction level.

Spectral solar irradiances were observed using a visible and UV Multi-Filter Rotating Shadowband Radiometer on the rooftop of the Science Building at Yonsei University, Seoul ($37.57^{\circ}N$, $126.98^{\circ}E$, 86 m) during one year period in 2006. 1-min measurements of global(total) and diffuse solar irradiances over the solar zenith angle (SZA) ranges from $20^{\circ}$ to $70^{\circ}$ were used to examine the effects of clouds and total optical depth (TOD) on enhancing four solar irradiance components (broadband 395-955 nm, UV channel 304.5 nm, visible channel 495.2 nm, and infrared channel 869.2 nm) together with the sky camera images for the assessment of cloud conditions at the time of each measurement. The obtained clear-sky irradiance measurements were used for empirical model of clear-sky irradiance with the cosine of the solar zenith angle (SZA) as an independent variable. These developed models produce continuous estimates of global and diffuse solar irradiances for clear sky. Then, the clear-sky irradiances are used to estimate the effects of clouds and TOD on the enhancement of surface solar irradiance as a difference between the measured and the estimated clear-sky values. It was found that the enhancements occur at TODs less than 1.0 (i.e. transmissivity greater than 37%) when solar disk was not obscured or obscured by optically thin clouds. Although the TOD is less than 1.0, the probability of the occurrence for the enhancements shows 50~65% depending on four different solar radiation components with the low UV irradiance. The cumulus types such as stratoculmus and altoculumus were found to produce localized enhancement of broadband global solar irradiance of up to 36.0% at TOD of 0.43 under overcast skies (cloud cover 90%) when direct solar beam was unobstructed through the broken clouds. However, those same type clouds were found to attenuate up to 80% of the incoming global solar irradiance at TOD of about 7.0. The maximum global UV enhancement was only 3.8% which is much lower than those of other three solar components because of the light scattering efficiency of cloud drops. It was shown that the most of the enhancements occurred under cloud cover from 40 to 90%. The broadband global enhancement greater than 20% occurred for SZAs ranging from 28 to $62^{\circ}$. The broadband diffuse irradiance has been increased up to 467.8% (TOD 0.34) by clouds. In the case of channel 869.0 nm, the maximum diffuse enhancement was 609.5%. Thus, it is required to measure irradiance for various cloud conditions in order to obtain climatological values, to trace the differences among cloud types, and to eventually estimate the influence on solar irradiance by cloud characteristics.
