  • PID controllers, which have been widely used in industry, have a simple structure and robustness to modeling error. But it is difficult to have uniformly good control performance in system parameters variation or different velocity command. In this paper, we propose a nonlinear adaptive PR controller based on an Immune feedback mechanism and a gradient descent teaming. This algorithm has a simple structure and robustness to system parameters variation. To verify performances of the proposed nonlinear adaptive PID controller, the speed control of nonlinear DC motor Is peformed. The simulation results show that the proposed control systems are effective in tracking a command velocity under system parameters variation

  • Deploying small cells is a reliable and influential solution to handle the skyrocketing traffic increase in the cellular network, and the small cell technology is evolving to ultra-dense network (UDN). In this paper we propose a small cell on/off algorithm with a simple but essential framework composed of access point (AP), user equipment (UE), and small cell controller (SCC). We propose Device-Assisted Networking for Cellular grEening (DANCE) algorithms that save the energy consumption by tying to minimize the number of turned-on APs while maintaining the network throughput. In doing so, SCC firstly gathers the feedback messages from UEs and then makes a decision including a set of turned-on APs and user association. DANCE algorithm has several variations depending on the number of bits of the UE's feedback message (1 bit vs. N bit), and is divided into AP-first, UE-first, or Proximity ON according to the criteria of selecting the turned-on APs. We perform extensive simulations under the realistic UDN environment, and the results confirm that the proposed algorithms, compared to the baseline, can significantly enhance the energy efficiency, e.g., more than a factor of 10.

  • In terms of the vehicle efficiency, a fuel cell hybrid system has advantages compared to a conventional internal combustion engine and a fuel cell alone-powered system. The efficiency of the fuel cell hybrid vehicle mainly depends on the maximum power of the fuel cell and therefore it is important to decide the design value of the fuel cell maximum power. In this paper, to estimate the performance of the fuel cell hybrid mini-bus in the design phase the simulator based on the models for the fuel cell stack, the electric battery, the fuel cell balance of plant, the controller, and the vehicle itself is proposed. Additionally, the hybrid mini-bus efficiencies with several different fuel cell powers are simulated for a city driving schedule and are compared on another. Consequently, the proposed simulation scheme is useful to determine the best design value of the fuel cell hybrid vehicles.

  • A microfabricated cell chip was developed to evaluate drug effect on mouse B16-F1 melanoma cell line. The cell chip system consists of 8-well culture cartridge incorporated with interdigitated array gold electrodes on each well, lock-in amplifier, 8-well cell scanner and computer as a system controller. Impedance of an electrode is increased according to adherent cell growth on the electrode surface. In order to verify investigated. The change of impedance was measured differentially between a control electrode containing only media and cell-cultured sample electrodes with time.

  • In this research, we propose a flexible conveying system (FCS) which consists of multiple arrays of cells. Each cell is a wheel driven by a two degree-of-freedom mechanism. The direction and velocity of cell are controlled based on the concept of hybrid control under a distributed network. Each cell has its own controller under a subsumption architecture for low-level control. A cell communicates with its four neighboring cells to manipulate n targeted object towards its desired position. The high-level control assigns a desired position and direction of the object to each cell. The path of each object is generated by many supporting cells. Moreover, the FCS can handle multiple objects simultaneously. To study the flexible conveying system, a GUI-based simulator of flexible conveying system is constructed. The simulated results show that the system can handle multiple objects independently and simultaneously under the proposed hybrid control architecture.

  • The computerized automation of modern manufacturing system is tremendously important for the cost reduction. Recently, the automation is being realized by Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) concept and the unmanned factory is the final goal of the automation. The automation of the low level of factory is the most crucial and difficult aspect in total CIM environment since various machines are involved. A cell is defined as a manufacturing group of closely related machineries in the entire factory hierarchy, The management scheme for a cell controller is defined from the software viewpoint. The domain of a cell is designed with tasks(processes) in a multiple-task operating system. The operation of the cell is established by defining schemes for overall control of the cell domain, databases, job scheduling, communications within the domain, user-interface and communications with outside machines. Although the software is developed in a specific operating system and WINDOW facilities, the operating strategies can be applied globally.

  • This paper developed an operating software for the manufacturing cell of a model plant. The model plant, which was manufactured by Fishertechnik, consists of an assembly cell, a machining cell, and supplementary material handling equipments. Each I/O module of the model plant communicates with the INTERBUS controller devices via High-level Language Interface(HLI). The machining center has two machining cells, which consists of 4 machines respectively, two 3-axis portal transporters, and a rail guided vehicle(RGV). The Petri-Net was used to investigate the dynamics of each machining cell, e.g., the relation of material handling equipments and machines. The operating software was analyzed and designed by Object Oriented Technique. The software was implemented using Delphi 3.0 under Windows 95/NT operating system.

  • In this paper, stack voltage monitoring module is developed which monitor cell voltage of the fuel cell stack and transfer it to the main controller for monitoring fault and stopping drive when the trouble is happened in the fuel cell stack. Especially, the circuit, for monitoring each cell voltage of several hundreds cells in stack, is designed and analyzed. The connector is also developed for making wire harness simple and low cost because wire harness is complicated when the cells are connect each monitoring circuit.

  • The proposed immune algorithm has an uncomplicated structure and memory-cell mechanism as the optimization algorithm which imitates the principle of humoral immune response. We use the proposed algorithm to solve parameter optimization problems. Up to now, the applications of immune algorithm have been optimization problems with non-varying system parameters. Therefore the usefulness of memory-cell mechanism in immune algorithm is without. This paper proposes the immune algorithm using a memory-cell mechanism which can be the application of system with nonlinear varying parameters. To verified performance of the proposed immune algorithm, the speed control of nonlinear DC motor are performed. The results of Computer simulations represent that the proposed immune algorithm shows a fast convergence speed and a good control performances under the varying system parameters.

  • In this paper, we developed the dynamic model of a fuel cell system suitable for controller design and system operation. The transient phenomena captured in the model include the flow characteristics and inertia dynamics of the compressor, the intake manifold filling dynamics, oxygen partial pressures and membrane humidity on the fuel cell voltage. In the simulations, we paid attention to the transient behavior of stack voltage and compressor pressure, stoichiometric ratio. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the model capability. For load current following, stack voltage dynamic characteristics are plotted to understand the Electro-chemistry involved with the fuel cell system. Compressor pressure and stoichiometric ratio are strongly coupled, and independent parameters may interfere with each other, dynamic response, undershoot and overshoot.
