  • This paper describes the path planning method in an unknown environment for an autonomous mobile robot equipped with CCD(Charge-Coupled Device) camera. The mobile robot moves along the guideline. The CCD camera is used for the detection of the existence of a guideline. The wavelet transform is used to find the edge of guideline. It is possible for us to do image processing more easily and rapidly by using wavelet transform. We make a fuzzy control rule using image data as an input then determined the position and the navigation of the mobile robot. The center value of guideline is the input of fuzzy logic controller and the steering angle of the mobile robot is the fuzzy controller output. Some actual experiments show that the mobile robot effectively moves to target position by means of the applied fuzzy control.

  • 4S-Van is being developed in order to provide the spatial data rapidly and accurately. 4S-Van technique is a system for spatial data construction that is heart of 4S technique. Architecture of 4S-Van system consists of hardware integration part and post-processing part. Hardware part has GPS, INS, color CCD, camera, B/W CCD camera, infrared rays camera, and laser. Software part has GPS/INS integration algorithm, coordinate conversion, lens correction, camera orientation correction, and three dimension position production. In this paper, we suggest that adequate 4S-Van design is needed according to application environment from various test results.

  • Round-cornering machines are mainly used for cornering of stiffners for ship buildings. In the present time they have been operated manually by operators. so they are need to be operated automatically without regard to any shapes of stiffners. We developed the automatic round cornering system which consists of CCd Camera, PC and laser diode to detect automatically the edge of stiffners to be processed

  • The characteristics of the BOES (Bohyunsan Observatory Echelle Spectrograph) CCD camera is presented. In order to get optimum gain and readout noise of the CCD, we examine the variation of the gain and readout noise by changing the value of output drain voltage of the CCD and measuring the gain using transfer curve, which is defined as the plot of variance versus mean exposure level of a homogeneous light onto the CCD surface. The gain and readout noises are optimised to be 0.5e$^-$/ADU and 3e$^-$, which is good for highest signal-to-noise ratio and contrast for the low light level characteristics of the BOES. We also measure the dark count of the CCD by getting five dark images with 3600 seconds exposure time. The mean dark count from median stacked dark images is essentially zero. A table of positions of defected pixels is also presented.

  • Purpose: This study is to design a triplet optical system for CCTV camera lens. Methods: It was a telescopic lens with $5^{\circ}$ field angle, 56 mm focal length, 20 mm diameter, and 2/3 inches sized CCD array detector. Results: The performance of the subject optical system was evaluated by applying ray fan, spot diagram, and diffraction optical MTF. The wavelength was achromatized at Fraunhofer C, d and F-line, and both MTF and tangential & sagittal MTF shows more than 70% at spatial frequency of 50 linepairs/mm. Conclusions: The marketable triplet optical system for CCTV camera was designed and its utility was considered.

  • The paper proposes a hierarchical fault detection method for the high voltage equipment using a microphone array which detects the location of fault and the thermal imaging and CCD cameras which verifies the fault and stores the image, respectively. There are partial arc discharges on the faulty insulators, which generates a specific pattern of sound. Detecting the signal using the microphone array, the location of the faulty insulator can be estimated. The 6th band-pass filter was applied to remove noise signal from wind or external influence. When the mobile robot carries the thermal and CCD cameras to the possible place of the fault insulator, the fault insulators or power transmission wires can be detected by the thermal images, which are caused by the aging or natural erosion. Finally, the CCD camera captures the image of the fault insulator for the record. The detection scheme of fault location using the microphone array and the thermal images have been proved to be effective through the real experiments. As a result of this research, it becomes possible to use a mobile robot with the integrated sensors to detect the fault insulators instead of a human being.

  • The objective of this paper is to provide an automatic color image testing system capable of synthetically testing a color element like a color tone and a luminance for a color image displayed on the screen, using a CCD camera and a microprocess. The system consists of a CCD camera, a line conveyor, a camera driving part, a remocon, a remote sensing part, a display and a PC including a color vision board and a CPU board. By applying the system to a process, reliability for a testing result can be improved and the absolute criterion to judge a part can be made.

  • A FOV (field-of-view) of the HV-MSC (high voltage multi-scan CCD, $1024{\times}1024$ pixels) camera mounted in the post-column HV-GIF (high voltage gatan image filter) has been drastically enlarged by the projection lens current adjustment. An imaging area of the HV-MSC camera obtained at the lowest magnification (2,000x) is $112{\mu}m^2$ which corresponds to the recording area of the film at the magnification of 8,800x, while the achievable recording area is only $0.43{\mu}m^2$ at the same magnification without this technique. Ignoring the image distortion of less than 5%, we have designed an on-site reference graph to estimate projection lens currents for microscope magnifications above 8,800x, where the recording area on the HVMSC is same as that on the film.
