  • This study was conducted to compare and analyze the management status of internet homepage of catering companies in Korea for improving internet marketing. An evaluation tool with 6 categories consisting of contents, information update, user's convenience, design, provision of related information, and accessibility was developed and used for the analysis of 6 major catering companies. A five-point likert scale (1=very badly organized, 5=very well organized) was used for evaluating above six categories. The overall mean score for six categories was 2.91 out of 5, showing below the average. The categories received less than 3 points were information update (2.16), user's convenience (2.33), and provision of related information (2.83). The scores for design was the highest (3.66), followed by accessibility (3.33), and contents (3.16). These results suggest that the internet homepaee of the catering companies should be improved especially in the provision of enough information and its update in order to promote their internet marketing.

  • The purpose of this study was to give early childhood educators information for differentiating internet information services related to early childhood education, and for making more positive educational effect with web information services. The main questions were there were and differences in the levels of information characteristics and the information contents according to the categories of those sites. The subjects were 47 internet sites frequently used by teachers and trained assistants rated them with rating scale. One way ANOVA and t-test were used for data analysis. The results showed that the levels of information characteristics dimensions had differences among the categories of sites. In addition to that the content quality of Portal sites were higher than those of other categories for children users, those of Portal sites and Daum Cafes were higher than corresponding quality of other sites for teachers.

  • A total of 77 cases was identified to have human errors from a total of 255 trips occurred from 1978 to 1992 in Korean NPPs. The cases were analyzed to investigate how many human errors occurred on which work conditions to find out the areas of high priority for human error reduction. For the analysis of the 77 trip cases due to human errors, classifications were made for the following four categories ; plant systems, work situation, job types, and error types. Erroneous tasks critically influencing the plant trips were carefully identified and analyzed according to the classifications. Based on the results for the individual cases, the cases were counted for the classification items in each of the four categories, then also for the group of categories to investigate the relationships among the categories in aspects of human error occurrences. As results, the plant systems, work situations, and job types, and error types that are dominant in human errors related to the trips ore identified.

  • A total of 77 unanticipated trip cases induced by human errors in Korean nuclear power plants were collected from the nuclear power plant trip event reports and analyzed to investigate the areas of high priority for human error reduction. Prior to this analysis, a classification system was made on the four task-related categories including plant systems, work situations, task types, and error types. The erroneous actions affecting the unanticipated plant trips were indentified by reviewing carefully the description of trip events. Then, the events with erroneous action were analyzed by using the classification system. Based on the results for the individual cases, human error occurrences were counted for each of the four categories, also for the selected pairs of categories, to find out the relationships between the two categories in aspects of human errors. As a result, the plant systems, work situations, and task types, and error types which are dominant in human error occurrences were identified.

  • Purpose: This paper reviews the papers on TQM issues which are published in the Journal of the Korean Society for Quality Management (KSQM) since 1965. The literature review is purposed to survey a variety of TQM issues for several categories. Methods: We divide all of TQM issues into 6 categories: ISO system, quality assurance, quality management theory, empirical study on quality management, quality awards, and quality management etc. Results: Dividing all of papers on TQM published in KSQM for 50 years into 6 categories, we provide a chronological roadmap for individual categories, and summarize the contents and contributions of surveyed papers. Conclusion: The review paper is expected to provide future direction to improve TQM theories and applications in manufacturing and service industries.

  • Product involvement is an important factor in consumer evaluation of co-branding. However, academic discussions over this factor have largely been neglected. This paper bridges this gap and investigates how product involvement moderates the strength of the reciprocal effect on each brand partner. We validate two theory-driven propositions by using a theoretical modeling approach. Proposition 1 explains that the negative reciprocal effect on partnering brands is stronger in the scenario of higher-involved categories than in lower-involved categories. Proposition 2 argues that the positive reciprocal effect on partnering brands can be more significant in the case of lower-involved categories than in higher-involved categories. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first to explore the influence of product involvement on reciprocal effects in the scenario of a moderately-incongruent co-branding alliance.

  • Information on newspaper articles were categorized into different topics, and each categories within different topics were developed into a faceted taxonomies model which was combined with fundamental facets. After suggesting the plan to construct such a model, the research of actual faceted taxonomies were conducted. Faceted taxonomies divide information on news articles into different topics(such as politics, economies and others) and combine fundamental facets with categories(for example, politics can be sub-classified into general politics, administration, legal system, and others) and sub-categories. Each sub-categories can be further subdivided. In taxanomies, categories can have hierarchical relationships. Categories-Facets, for example, can be utilized to combine "arts" with "people", "action", "event", "time", "place" and others. And Sub-category of the classification of "arts" such as "art," "music," "dance" form hierarchical relationships with "arts" and, in turn, can be used for browsing and further inferences. Furthermore, combining category and facets results in hierarchical structure in order of fundamental facets. As for the pilot vocabulary construction, faceted taxonomies of 145 words from news paper articles on the topic of "arts" were constructed using all construction elements covered in this study.

  • This study aims to analyze features of topics about AI(Artificial Intelligence) which is gaining a massive attention these days. Newspaper articles published from 2016 to June, 2017 were selected to analyze key subjects. The reason why the period was selected is people started to get attention on AI since 2016 as AlphaGo came out and gave a shock. The number of coded main message was 1,210 in 525 newspaper articles in total. The messages were categorized as three subject categories: the seven major categories, 62 middle categories. and minor categories. The seven major categories contains issues such as AI research, AI application, AI business, AI era, AI argument, AlphaGo, and other topics. The first features of issues about AI found in the major subject categories is that they are various and complicate. Second, it is important that social and policy-level issues related AI, such as job losses, misuse, and error should be dealt with to utilize AI safely. Last, issues related the role of human and revolution of education system in the AI era were shown as subjects which are important but hard to discuss.

  • In Total Water Pollutant Load Management System of Korea, unit load approach based on land register data is currently used for the estimation of non-point pollutant load. However, a problem raised that land register data could not always reflect the actual land surface coverages which determine runoff characteristics of non-point pollution sources. As a way to overcome this, we tried to establish quantitative relationships between the aerial images (0.4m resolution) which reflect actual land surface coverages and the land registration maps according to the 19 major designated land-use categories in Kyeongan watershed. Analyses showed different relationships according to the land-use categories. Only a few land-use categories including forestry, road and river showed essentially identical and some categories such as orchard, parking lot and sport utility site showed no relationships at all between image data and land register data. Except for the two cases, all the other categories showed statistically significant linear relationships between image data and land register data. The analyses indicate that using high resolution aerial maps is a better way to estimate non-point pollutant load. If the aerial maps are not available, application of the linear relationships as conversion factors of land register data to image data could be an possible option to estimate non-point pollutant loads for the specific land-use categories in Kyeongan watershed.
