This study examined the awareness and use of cloud computing services by librarians in selected universities in Edo State. A descriptive survey research design was employed and the instrument used was questionnaire. The population of the study was 132 professional and Para-professional librarians. The total enumeration technique was used to select the entire population because the size was manageable. Simple percentage, frequency count, and mean were used to analyze the data collected. From the analysis of data gathered, it was found that the librarians are aware of the use of OCLC, world cat, and Google docs to a very high extent. It was found that the librarians used cloud computing services and technologies for collection development functions and cataloging. Based on the findings it was recommended that management of the libraries should support librarians by providing adequate funding to the library in order to support the acquisition and maintenance of infrastructure for cloud computing.

이 연구의 목적은 우리 나라의 대표적인 학술정보시스템인 KERIS가 구축해 놓은 종합목록 DB의 품질을 체계적으로 검증하고, 품질을 개선하기 위한 이론적 실천적 방안을 제시하는데 있다. 이를 위해, 종합목록 DB의 품질을 체계적이고 지속적으로 평가하기 위한 ‘모델’을 개발하였으며, 개발한 ‘모델’에 근거하여 KERIS 종합목록 DB의 품질을 종합적으로 검증하였다. 특히, 종합목록 DB의 품질을 열악하게 만드는 요인을 다양한 측면에서 분석하였으며, 향후 종합목록 DB의 품질을 개선하기 위한 경영 전략과 실무 방안을 제시하였다.

이용자 서비스 강화와 효율적인 정보관리를 위해 각 정보센터들이 구축하고 있는 정보센터 자동화시스템의 개발이 최근 멀티미디어와 네트워크 기술의 발달과 더불어 통합화 경향을 보이고 있다. 즉 과거 소장정보만을 제공하던 것에서 CD-ROM 등 소장 외부 데이터베이스외에도 인터넷과 PC통신망과 같은 외부 온라인 데이터베이스도 하나의 시스템에 통합하는 것이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 국내외 사례연구를 통해 통합화 경향을 확인하고 통합할 정보와 비용의 측면에서 그 통합방안을 제시하였다. 또한 포스코의 그룹차원 정보관리시스템인 MIPOS 정보자료시스템을 국내의 대표적인 통합화 사례로서 제시하였다.

이 연구의 목적은 우리 도서관이 생산해 내고 있는 목록의 가치를 '유용성'의 관점에서 논의하는데 있다. 특히, 도서관 이용자의 관점에서 도서관목록이 그들의 정보요구를 충족시키는데 얼마나 유용하게 활용되고 있는지에 대해 실증적으로 분석해 보고자 하였다. 이를 위해, 목록이용자들의 견해를 중시하면서 도서관목록의 유용성을 측정해 낼 수 있는 체계적인 기준을 도출하였다. 그리고 이러한 기준에 근거하여 현 단계 도서관목록의 유용성을 직접 측정하였다. 유용성에 대한 측정 결과는 구체적인 사례와 함께 제시하였으며, 유용성을 저하시키는 요인을 상세하게 설명하였다.

The necessity of computerizing the Central National Library of Korea has been widely recognized. The purpose of this research is to develop Korean Machine Readable Cataloging system as a first step toward an integrated library system and suggests the ways of utilizing the MARC file in Korean libraries as well as in the Central National Library. In this paper the following studies are included: 1. An analysis of the functions and current procedures of the Central National Library 2. Development of a standard record format for KOR MARC 3. Production and utilization of KOR MARC files 4. Identification of problems in developing KOR MARC system In conclusion, the following recommendations are made: 1. Standardization of the internal code and input/output equipments should be proceded for hangul and chinese data processing. 2. The libraries planning or having accomplished computerization process should be cooperative in standardizing and distributing bibliographic data bases including KOR MARC tapes. 3. Training of competent librarians and strong support from the government are required for a successful implementation of the Library's computerization project.

본 연구는 내용분석과 네트워크 분석을 사용하여 국내 정보조직분야 지식구조를 조사하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 2000년부터 최근까지 정보조직분야 논문을 바탕으로 저자키워드, 초록, 저자, 저자소속기관을 추출하여 용어의 빈도를 측정하는 것은 물론 용어 간 연관관계를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 네트워크상에서 각 노드의 연결중심성, 근접중심성, 위세중심성을 산출하였다. 그 결과 정보조직 연구주제어는 좁고 복잡한 네트워크를 형성하고 있으며 주제어 사이에 직접적인 연결이 많이 이루어지고 있음을 알 수 있다. 목록과 분류는 여전히 정보조직의 중심축을 담당하고 있는 반면, 메타데이터, 온톨로지가 새로운 연구 분야로 부상하였다. 반면에 저자소속기관 및 저자는 넓은 네트워크를 형성하고 있었으며 협력이 활발하지 않았다.

최근 독립출판물에 대한 사회적 관심과 이용자 요구의 증가로 공공도서관을 통한 독립출판물의 장서운영이 확대되고 있다. 그러나 공공도서관에서는 독립출판물의 다양한 형태 사항과 서지정보 제공의 부실 등으로 인하여 장서로 운영하는 데에 어려움을 겪고 있다. 이에 공공도서관에서 독립출판물을 효과적으로 관리를 할 수 있는 방안을 제시하기 위해 공공도서관의 독립출판물 장서 현황 분석과 독립출판물 담당자와의 심층인터뷰를 진행하였다. 그 결과 독립출판물을 효과적으로 관리할 수 있는 방안으로 공공도서관 독립출판물 목록 구축 및 공유를 위한 공동목록시스템 구축, 독립출판물의 다양한 정보를 수집할 수 있는 플랫폼, 독립출판물의 ISBN, ISSN, CIP 발급 지원, 유통시스템의 개선이 필요한 것으로 도출되었다.

Library communities face many problems and limitations in describing alternative format materials based on the traditional MAchine Readable Cataloging (MARC) structure. To address these problems, this research proposes an XML-based descriptive metadata framework that establishes general but fundamental bibliographic aspects of various alternative format materials by providing core elements that are essential in describing these materials. Different from existing bibliographic structures, the proposed metadata framework can represent a fundamental descriptive structure by establishing four upper-level categories, 17 core elements, and 10 sub-elements in a hierarchical structure optimized to alternative format materials. By using this principal descriptive structure, the proposed metadata framework can guide different institutions in the creation of bibliographic records for these materials in a consistent way. It is also expected to address the difficulties in describing alternative format materials in library communities and enhance the information accessibility of individuals with various types of disabilities. In addition, the proposed metadata framework is an alternative approach which functions as a mediator between heterogeneous characteristics of alternative format materials and the existing bibliographic structures in library communities.

Bibliographical Description for Revolutionary Historical Archives is created to describe records at the item level. It defines descriptive elements, punctuations, formats and methods. Descriptive elements are composed of 20 elements, each of which is either mandatory or optional. Mandatory elements are: repositories codes, documents codes, dates, creators, title, classification codes, and subject vocabularies. Abstracts were previously included in card cataloging and are removed in the computerized system. New elements, such as "uncontrolled vocabularies," "name of places," "personal names," "organizational structures" and "meetings," are added to allow keyword search. Considering that subject vocabulary searches are the most important in computerized systems, however, Guidelines for the Subject Indexing for Revolutionary Historical Archives as well as Subject Headings, as a result from the Guidelines, are created. The most extraordinary features in Chinese archival description are said to be the Guidelines for the Classification Indexing for Revolutionary Historical Archives and Materials as well as the Classification Scheme, both of which are created to allow subject search of records content. It is because Chinese practice of records management distinguishes the classification for arrangement from that for retrieval. Chinese archival description is, therefore, composed of bibliographic description rules, subject headings, and the classification scheme for retrieval.

이 연구에서는 공공도서관 사서 185명을 대상으로 CIP에 대한 인식 및 업무활용, CIP의 서비스품질과 만족도, 충성도에 대한 인식을 조사 분석하였다. 조사 결과 공공도서관 사서 중 172명(93.0%)이 CIP를 알고 있었으며, 이 중 98명(57.0%)만이 CIP를 업무에 활용하고 있었다. 리커트 5점 척도를 사용한 설문조사 결과를, CIP를 업무에 활용하고 있는 사서들은 CIP의 서비스품질(3.50) 및 만족도(3.71), 충성도(3.72)에 대하여 비교적 높게 인식하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 서비스품질이 만족도에 미치는 영향과 만족도가 충성도에 미치는 영향을 확인하기 위하여 구조방정식을 이용하여 검증하였다. 분석 결과 데이터품질, 시스템품질, 서비스지원, 교육/홍보의 4가지 차원의 서비스품질 중 데이터 품질만이 만족도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 만족도는 충성도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
