Objectives: This study was performed to analyze the interventions of Oriental Medicine which had been commonly used for postpartum disease and postpartum care. Methods: We searched research on the interventions for postpartum disease and postpartum care in 4 domestic search engines. After that, we conducted eligibility screening based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: 1. We selected total 50 studies. There were 2 randomized controlled trial (RCT), 5 non-RCT, 35 case reports, 8 case series within the 6~8 weeks after childbirth. 2. Of the 35 case reports, several interventions were used : acupuncture (22), moxibustion (11), cupping therapy (7), pharmacopuncture (5), chuna manipulation (4), herbal medicine (34). The most common symptoms were musculoskeletal symptoms (8), followed by postpartum depression (7). Various prescriptions and acupoints of oriental medicine were used depending on the diseases or symptoms. 3. Of the 8 case series, 382 subjects in 5 case series had taken Saenghwa-tang-gagam. And Acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping therapy (5), pharmacopuncture (1) were used as an intervention. 4. The most commonly used acupoint is 腎兪 (BL23) in the pain including postpartum back pain and 三陰交 (SP6), 關元 (CV4) in the postpartum care. 關元 (CV4) is the most commomly used moxibustion point not only the postpartum disease but also the postpartum care. Conclusions: In clinical studies of oriental medicine related to postpartum disease and postpartum care, pain-related clinical studies that belong to or progress to Sanhupung were the most common (30%), and among them, postpartum low back pain studies were the most common (20%). Based on this, we believe that large-scale clinical studies with high quality using oriental interventions including chuna and pharmacopuncture are needed to establish guidelines for the management of pain treatment including postpartum back pain.
Objective : The purpose of this study is to suggest the evidence of traditional Korean medicine by analyzing the clinical research trends of the Korean Academy of Medical Gi-Gong and to use it as reference data for future clinical studies. Background; In the event of an industrial accident, the appropriate choice of hospital is important for worker health and prognosis. This study investigates whether the choice of hospital by the employer in the case of industrial accidents affects the prognosis of injured employees. Methods; Data from the 2018 Panel Study of Workers' Compensation Insurance in Korea were used in an unmatched case-controlled study. The exposure variable is "hospital selection by an employer," and the outcome variable is 'worker's disability." Odds ratios (ORs) were estimated by modified Poisson regression and adjusted for age, gender, underlying disease, injury severity, and workplace size and stratified by industrial classification. The group at increased risk was analyzed and stratified by age, gender, and area. Results; In the construction industry, hospital selection by the employer was significantly associated with increased risk of disability (adjusted OR 1.26; 95% confidence interval [CI]; 1.20-1.32) and severe disability (adjusted OR 1.38; 95% CI; 1.08-1.76) among the injured. Female and younger workers not living in the Seoul capital area were more at risk of disability and severe disability than those living in the Seoul capital area. Conclusions; Hospital selection by employers affects the prognosis of workers injured in an industrial accident. For protecting workers' health and safety, workplace emergency medical systems should be improved, and the selection of appropriate hospitals to supply treatment should be reviewed.

Three-dimensional (3D) modeling of the liver can be especially useful for both the surgeon and patient to understand the actual location of the tumor and planning the resection plane. Virtual reality (VR) can enhance the understanding of 3D structures and create an environment where the user can focus on contents provided. In the present study, a VR platform was developed using Unreal Engine 4 software (Epic Games, Potomac, MD, USA). Patient's liver based on magnetic resonance image was imported as a 3D model that could distinguish liver parenchyma, vascular structure, and cancer. Preoperative education videos for patients were developed. They could be viewed inside the VR platform. To evaluate the usefulness of VR education program for patients undergoing liver resection for hepatocellular carcinoma, a randomized clinical trial evaluating the knowledge and anxiety of the patient was designed. The case presented in this report was the first experience of performing the VR education program and examining the knowledge and anxiety using questionnaires. When the knowledge score increased, the anxiety score also increased after the education program. Based on findings of this pilot case study, the timing and place where the questionnaire will be answered can be modified for formal initiation of the randomized controlled study to examine the usefulness of VR in patient education.
Objectives : To research trends of studies on treatments of lumbar herniated intervertebral disc in Korean medicine. Methods : We searched papers using Korean Traditional Knowledge Portal, OASIS, KISS. We used "low back pain", "radiculopathy", "lumbar herniated intervertebral disc" as keyword. Limitations were as follows; Domestic studies, published from 2000 to 2011, mentioning the treatments of lumbar herniated intervertebral disc in Korean medicine. This study researched and classified the papers according to the fields of the treatment and methods of study. Results : The results were obtained as below ; 1. The number of papers published in 2000 was only three, but steadily increased to 15 in 2010 and the total number of papers was 93. 2. When categorized according to the fields of treatment, 93 researches are classified as acupuncture, moxibustion, Chuna therapy, drug, various physical therapies and collaborative Oriental-Western medicine therapy. 3. When categorized according to the methods of study, 70 researches were the simple case report and non-RCT(non-randomized controlled trial) were 11 and RCT(randomized controlled trials) has been reported in 11 researches. 4. General assessment tools were VAS, ODI before, however these days, Physical examination(ROM, SLRT, etc.), Radiologic tests(MRI, X-ray), DITI etc. are used more in order to evaluate objective therapeutic effects. Conclusions : These results indicate that researches on lumbar herniated intervertebral disc in Korean medicine have been investigated by various method and steadily increasing.
Objectives : To prevent stroke, it is very important to reduce risk factors which might cause stroke. However, previous studies that having investigated coffee consumption associated with stroke reported various results. In addition, there were only a few studies based on the Korean population. Therefore, we studied the association of coffee consumption and the possibility of getting stroke among Koreans. Methods : A case-control study was carried out on 207 cases(stroke patients) and 207 controls(non-stroke patients) in a hospital. Information on characteristics, health habits, dietary habits and coffee consumption were obtained through direct interview by using an organized questionnaire; WHR(Waist-Hip Ratio) was determined through physical examination. The coffee consumption was classified by the average frequency of intake, such as less than 1 cup/day, 2-3 cups/day, more than 5 cups/day). Possible confounding effects of age, sex, smoking and alcohol drinking were controlled by multiple logistically regressive analysis. Results : After adjusting age and sex, coffee consumption significantly increased risk factors of stroke(${\leq}$1 cup/day OR=1.018, 95% CI=0.631-1.644; 2-3 cup/day OR=1.782, 95%CI=1.032-3.079;${\geq}$5 cup/day OR=1.210, 95% CI=0.588-2.490). When other factors were controlled, the risk factors of stroke were associated with alcohol drinking, whereas no significant association was observed with coffee consumption. Conclusion : Coffee consumption is not a major risk factor of causing stroke in this study. Prospective and cohort study on the association between coffee consumption and the possibility of getting strokes among the Korean population will be needed in the future.

The aim of this study was to examine pharmacopuncture treatment for lateral epicondylitis, and to contribute to developing a standardized treatment regimen by reviewing trends in clinical trials. Five randomized controlled trials, 1 case-control study, and 8 cohort studies published after 1999, that involved pharmacopuncture for lateral epicondylitis, were selected from Korean and international online databases (n = 8). The type of pharmacopuncture, dose, frequency, efficacy, and adverse events were analyzed. Seven types of pharmacopuncture were used, namely Bee Venom, Illicium henryi Diels, Akebiae Caulis, Angelicae sinensis Diels, Ligusticum chuanxiong Hort, Hominis Placenta, and Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix. Dose, treatment duration, and treatment frequency varied widely. One study assessed the treatment efficacy according to frequency. Nine studies lacked data on adverse events. The quality of 5 randomized controlled trials was low. Although pharmacopuncture treatment appeared to be effective for lateral epicondylitis, it was difficult to standardize the regimen for lateral epicondylitis.
Objectives The purpose of this study is to investigate recent clinical studies on the effect of herbal medicine in molluscum contagiosum in China, and to seek better methods to treat and study for molluscum contagiosum in Korea. Methods We searched the clinical studies from the China Academic Journal (CAJ) in China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) by key words '傳染性軟?', '治療', '中?治療', '中藥' from January 2001 to August 2018. We analyzed the literature in regards to the treatment methods and results. Results Among the 103 searched studies, 9 randomized controlled trials, 2 controlled clinical trials, and 16 case studies were selected and analyzed. In most of the studies, the effectiveness of herbal medicine on molluscum contagiosum was significantly high. The most commonly used herbs for oral administration were Isatidis Radix (板藍根), Coicis Semen (薏苡仁), Cyperi Rhizoma (香附子), Equiseti Herba (木賊), Poria (茯?), Lithospermi Radix (紫草), Isatidis Folium (大靑葉) and Lonicerae Flos (金銀花). The most commonly used herbs for external applications were Isatidis Radix (板藍根), Lonicerae Flos (金銀花), Cyperi Rhizoma (香附子), Equiseti Herba (木賊), Dictamni Radicis Cortex (白鮮皮), Isatidis Folium (大靑葉) and Brucea javanica (鴉膽子).
