  • OFDM 방식을 다중 반송파 변조방식(Multi-Carrier Modulation)의 일종으로 다수의 부반송파를 이용하여 전송신호를 병렬로 전송하는 방식이다. OFDM 시스템에서는 심볼간의 간섭을 줄이기 위해 보호구간을 삽입하여 송신한다. 이 보호구간은 유효 데이터 구간의 일부분을 복사하여 신호의 앞부분에 첨가하는 것으로 복조에 사용되지 않는 여분의 신호이다. 수신된 OFDM 신호를 복조하기 위해 FFT를 사용하는데 FFT의 입력에는 보호구간을 제외한 유효 데이터 부분만을 이용해야 한다. 이 때 보호구간 제거를 위해 사용되는 것이 FFT 윈도우이다. 이 논문에서는 반송파 주파수 옵셋의 영향을 받지 않는 대략적인 FFT 윈도우 위치 복원에 대한 알고리즘을 제안하고 AWGN과 20개의 다중경로 채널 환경에서 컴퓨터 모의 수행으로 성능을 평가하였다.

  • A new coding algorithm which has spectrum notches at the DC and Nyquist Frequency for maximizing the effect of the in-band pilot insertion in order to make the symbol timing or carrier recovery easy is proposed. It is shown that this algorithm uses one encoder and gives the similar spectrum characteristics to that of the existing OF00 code which uses two encoder. In this paper, the proposed new coding algorithm is explained andits spectrum characteristics is compared with the of OF00 code using computer simulation.

  • In this paper, present status of super high-efficiency tandem solar cells has been reviewed and key issues for realizing super high-efficiency have also been discussed. In addition, the terretrial R&D activities of tandem cells, in the New Sunshine Program of MITI(Ministry of International Trade and Industry) and NEDO(New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization) in Japan are reviewed briefly. The mechanical stacked 3-junction cells of monolithically grown InGaP/GaAs 2-junction cells and InGaAs cells have reached the highest efficiency achieved in Japan of 33.3% at 1-sun AM1.5. This paper also reports high-efficiency InGaP/GaAs 2-junction solar cells with a world-record efficiency of 26.9% at AM0, 28$^{\circ}C$ and radiation damage recovery phenomena of the tandem cell performance due to minority-carrier injection under light illumination or forward bias, which causes defect annealing in InGaP top cells. Future prospects for realizing super-high efficiency and low-cost tandem solar cells are also described.

  • This paper presents the design and implementation of a baseband Modem using DSP that supports a wireless LAN. It is implemented with DSP and D/A and A/D Converters in baseband and tested without using IF and RF modules. In this paper, we have used the matched filler and DLL(delay lock loop) for synchronization. And the matched filter and the carrier recovery are directly connected. Therefore, the proposed architecture is very simple and the operation of DSP becomes fast.

  • In this paper, we propose a frequency synchronization algorithm for S-DMT cable modem, which is practicable to the next-generation high capacity upstream physical layer in HFC networks. Analyzing several viable frequency synchronization algorithms of multicarrier systems, we proposed an algorithm using predetermined training sequence of repeated pattern in preamble field and residual frequency offset compensation with pilot signals. We verified that the simulation results of the proposed algorithm in AWGN showed good performance and suitability to the S-DMT upstream cable modem for fast frequency synchronization.

  • This study evaluates the performance of an optical receiver for binary phase shift keying (BPSK) signals in the presence of short noise originating from the photo diode and phase noise of the optical source. The case of using I.O. hybrid compare with the fiber optic hybrid to mix received optical signal and laser local oscillator signal. The impact of these noise is minimized if loop natural frequency and power split ratio between data and carrier recovery branch are choosen optimally. Then it is obtained that required laser linewidt to achieve a BER of 10**-9. The results are the same except theat in case of using the fiber optic hybrid the required optical power is twice as much as the I.O. hybrid.

Purification and Comparison of NADH-Cytochrome $b_5$ Reductase from Mitochondrial Outer Membrane of Bovine Heart and Turnip

  • The NADH-cytochrome b5 reductase (NCBR), a mitochondrial external electron carrier, was purified from bovine heart and turnip and their properties were examined. The mitochondrial outer membranes separated were subjected to NCBR isolation through DEAE-Cellulose ion exchange, DEAE-Sephadex gel chromatography, and hydroxyapatite adsorption chromatography. These processes yielded the purification folds of 88 and 42 and the recovery percentages of 0.2%, 5.67% for turnip and bovine heart, respectively. The molecular weight of the NCBR from the two sources was estimated to be 35,000 using SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The Michaelis constant Km and maximum velocity Vmax were determined by measuring the NADH-ferricyanide redox system as well as the NADPH-ferricyanide redox system. The kinetics showed that both NCBRs had higher affinities for NADH than artificial electron-acceptor substrate ferricyanide. Although NADPH had a lower affinity for the enzymes than NADH, this study showed the 2'-phosphate dinucleotide could be used as a substrate.

Unified DC Offset Cancellation and I/Q Regeneration with Carrier Phase Recovery in Five-Port Junction based Direct Receivers (Five-port 접합을 이용한 RF 수신기를 위한 동시 DC 오프셋 제거와 I/Q 신호 재생 알고리즘)

  • This paper presents a novel unified DC offset cancellation and I/Q regeneration for five-port junction based direct receivers. It utilizes the symmetry characteristics of the single-frequency continuous-wave (CW) signal, making it possible that the proposed method can be used regardless of carrier phase offset. The proposed method eliminates the additional DC offset cancellation and reduces the I/Q regeneration parameter estimation time. Since the proposed method employs a single-frequency CW signal independent of the modulation scheme, five-port junction based direct receivers can be used for the demodulation of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing and continuous phase modulation as well as phase shift-keying.

The Variation of Cu Recovery by Electrowinning Conditions and Their Mineralogical Characteristics from Cathodic Deposition-powdered Copper (전기분해 조건에 따른 구리 회수 변화와 음극회수-구리분말에 대한 광물학적 특성)

  • In order to study the mineralogical characteristics of a cathodic deposition-metallic powder, electrowinning experiments were carrier out on different electrolytic solutions at varying electric distances and electric currents. Under the same experimental conditions, Cu recovery was obtained much more effectively using a sodium chloride electrolyte than with a sulfuric acid electrolyte. In XRD analysis, copper ($Cu^0$), chalcanthite and cuprite were identified in the sulfuric acid electrolyte, while copper, nantokite and chalcanthite were observed in the sodium chloride electrolyte. In the sodium chloride electrolyte solution, increasing the electric distance and the electric current increased the Cu recovery rate, anode weight and anodic corrosion. The results of XRD analysis with non-pulverized cathodic deposition-metallic powder showed the average copper crystallite size was increased by increasing the electric current and decreasing the electric distance. It is suggested that the mass transfer was controlled with diffusion on the boundary between the electrode and the electrolytic solution due to the formation of dendrite copper.

Design and Performance Analysis of Multicarrier 16QAM System in Simulcast Fading Channel (동시전송 감쇠 채널에서 다중반송파 16QAM 시스템의 설계 및 성능분석)

  • In this paper, we design the nonoverlapping multicarrier modulation (MCM) system for high rate paging system and evaluate the Performance by computer simulation. In conventional paging system, FSK was usually used, but we select QAM for high bandwidth efficiency. Transmitter structure adopts that of 4-16QAM of the iDEN$\^$TM/ and receiver consists of symbol timing recovery, carrier recovery and automatic gain control. In addition, pilot symbol aided modulation (PSAM) which can overcome the simulcast fading channel is considered and we also propose the optimum pilot symbol pattern. Finally, we show the performance of the overall 4-16QAM system by computer simulation.
