This paper identifies the current practice and problems of the performance appraisal system at a typical Korean company. We developed a general framework of performance appraisal system consisted of five subsystems. Along the components of this framework, we reviewed the internal documents and recent appraisal data in the firm, and analyzed the interview and questionnaire survey outcomes collected companywise. Main findings are as follows. The appraisal results are used solely for promotion decisions, and almost never for career development, rewarding, relocation and so on. The appraisal items are not clear in meaning, not comprehensive in scope, and do not adequately reflect characteristics of different jobs. The appraisal is made by superiors only, and needs to be complemented by peer and/or self reviews. The employees are appraised on the basis of subjective judgments of the superiors. The appraisal data are being accumulated, but due to inadequate formation and insufficient programs the database is not being used for the detection and correction of appraisal tendencies and errors. Appraisal results are not fedback to the employees for the constructive information exchange. Accordingly they perceive the effectiveness of the appraisal system as very poor. Finally, the implication of our finding for other companies is briefly discussed.

This study would investigate how reading psychology coaching could affect to male & female youth who lived in youth shelter. The main target of this study is self-growth. The progression of program had held from 17nd July 2016 to 17nd October 2016 and each program has been done for 120 minutes once a week during 12times. In order to verify the effectiveness of the program 'Inferiority Complex Symptom Scales' & 'Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy Scales' were used. In short, this program process mainly affect on self-growth. Therefore, this program effect expected as a developmental reading psychology coaching for youth shelter dwellers.

To meet the needs of the information age, the Korean government has placed a high priority in building the IT -capable workforce. Though a sizable financial resource was committed in implementing the policy, its effectiveness was not examined yet. The policy for the workforce development should be assessed continuously so that any misdirections are detected and redressed. The present study addresses four potential problems that would not allow the government to switch from a quantity-based policy to a quality-based policy. These are ① Korean universities' labor supply chain. ② moral hazard problems. ③ financial capacity of students, ④ horizontal policy orientation. The paper also proposes solutions to the mentioned problems. The government should foster an environment in which provide the concerned parties(universities. private institutions. students. etc,) with incentives to participate actively and promote the market principle of labor supply and demand. Such an ex-ante approach is believed to improve the system's efficiency compared to the extant approach based on ex-post KPI figures. If the four issues are not redressed. the market failure is likely to occur. The government should not make direct involvement in developing manpower, but rather be a linchpin to pull all concerned parties together. By doing so. the government should be able to fill the gap among parties in the system. One government role would be like defining workforce categories and promoting their career paths. Such role will also trigger universities and private institutions to pursue differential strategies along the supply chain of a particular workforce type.
The purpose of this study is to find out what is the functional role of VTS in order to get the people concerned with marine traffic/transportation understand about VTS. VTS could be described as the essential risk management system in both cost effective on cost-benefit analysis and the sea space or time management at port, coastal environment. The important role of the VTS are those functions such as the decision making infrastructure, the passive/active safety measures at sea. VTS could not control/regulate marine traffic as strong as ATC(Air Traffic Control) owing to the marine traffic characters. However, the right and responsibility of VTS finally are belong to the master, pilot and mariners. For the benefit of the electronic technology development, VTS system also cloud be upgraded to communication system from information system. In connection with these system upgrading, the right and responsibility of VTS/staff should be supported by domestic legal system. The followings are presented for VTS to be effective. First, the cooperation and understanding of VTS between the peoples concerned with marine traffic/transportation are essential. Because they are all data supplier and also information consumers. Second, VTS staff/regulator should be selected, educated, trained accordingly as per their career, ability, quality, qualification, certification and etc. Third, the port reliability from VTS users depends on the factors such as economic interests, safety and effectiveness/efficiency of VTS.
There's been few research to study the effects of CAC(Computing Accreditation Committee) evaluation, since start of CAC accreditation 10 years ago. The purpose of this paper is to find what computer engineering graduates perceive the effects of CAC accreditation and to suggest how CAC accreditation process can be improved. The research findings through survey are followings; First, computer engineering graduates' undergraduate education satisfaction is not high enough(3.28). Second, the computer engineering graduates don't recognize CAC accreditation necessary. Third, graduates who work in company chose design courses as the most helpful, while graduates who study in graduate school pursuing further career in master or doctor program chose major subjects. Lastly, graduates from accredited program do not think their completion of accreditation program influence their employment. Strategic approaches to make higher effectiveness of CAC accreditation system are suggested. First, improvement of curriculum and instruction method in CAC accredited program is required to satisfy the needs of students and industry. Second, efforts to inform students of understandings and necessity of accreditation are highly recommended. Third, industrial sector needs to understand CAC accreditation and give graduates from accredited program more incentives. Lastly, government support like Seoul Accord Activation Project should last for a while.
Student success in higher education is largely determined by experiences during the freshman year. We believe freshman succeed when they make progress toward fulfilling their educational and personal goals: 1) developing academic and intellectual competence; 2) establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships; 3) deciding on a career and life-style; 4) maintaining personal health and wellness; and 5) developing an integrated philosophy of life. The study analyzed the factors which influence the students' academic and personal life in the process of education. And is also provided a suggestion to propose directions for the effectiveness of the freshman education
The purposes of this study were to compare performance of HACCP-based sanitary management and sanitation knowledge of employees in some food services (hospitals, elementary school, industry) in Inchon. Therefore, the survey questionnaire consisted of general background, sanitation performance, sanitation knowledge evaluation. The subjects were 370 employees in hospital, elementary school, industrial food service. The statistical analysis of data was completed using SPSS program. The results were summarized as follows: 99.3% of surveyed employees were female. 95.7% of employees were attended sanitation education and 76.8% of them were educated once a month. Employees in school food service showed higher academic career than the other food service employees. The food service employees' performance level was high(4.48). The performance level of school employees was significantly higher compared to other food services(p<0.001). Average score of sanitation knowledge was 16.36/20. The school food service employees' knowledge 17.03 was also higher compared to other food services. There was no significant correlation between sanitary performance and knowledge for total score. But among items of sanitary performance, a personal hygiene and food sanitary was significantly correlated with sanitation knowledge. The results of survey imply that the suitable contents and methods of education and training must be developed. Also, Financial supports to install necessary sanitary facilities are very important in order to raise effectiveness of education.

Purpose: This study aimed to identify the relationships of superior's leadership to supervisory trust and organizational commitment of nurses. Method: Subjects were 386 nurses in 8 general hospitals at G city and Seoul. Data were collected with self-administered questionnaires and analyzed using SAS 8.12 by applying ttest, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and Stepwise multiple regression. Results: Superior's transformational leadership was $3.54{\pm}0.53$ and transactional leadership was $3.40{\pm}0.36$. Supervisory trust was $3.14{\pm}0.46$ and organizational commitment was $3.18{\pm}0.53$. Superior's transformational leadership was positively correlated with transactional leadership, supervisory trust and organizational commitment with each others. The level of supervisory trust and organizational commitment were different significantly by age, educational status, clinical career, position and superior's leadership level. Major factor that affect to supervisory trust and organizational commitment of nurses was transformational leadership, which had an explanation of 45.9% and 29.8%. Conclusions: The more nurses perceived the superior's transformational leadership, the higher nurses perceived supervisory trust and organizational commitment. Therefore, these variables generally screened and other factors should be analyzed. And if specified nursing intervention program which increase superior's transformational leadership will be developed, it may contribute to strengthen the effectiveness of nursing.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify effectiveness of fundamental nursing practices in clinical settings. Method: This study adopted the triangulation method. Using one group pre-post test design, this study identified differences in self efficacy between pre and post clinical practice. The study was also designed to describe the nursing student's experience of clinical practice by using content analysis Results: 1) All students experienced bedmaking, BST check, V/C check, positioning, transferring, assisting with moving and positioning, and ROM. Sixty percent of students experienced giving oral care, and forty percent experienced shampooing patient's hair. 2) While the mean score of self efficacy was 3.88 in the pre-test, it decreased to 3.76 in the post-test. They were statistically different from each other. 3) Seven categories were elicited from the result of content analysis on the nursing student's experience, which were 'ignorant stranger', 'facing the gap between theory and practice', 'resolving the uncertainty of clinical setting', 'getting used to fundamental nursing practice', 'motivated by a desire to study and self-development', 'understanding the nursing profession's job', and 'being helpful for the future career'. Conclusion: Fundamental nursing practice in clinical settings is a useful strategy that improves fundamental nursing skills and motivates student's self-development.
An attempt had been made to obtain current information on induced abortion among currently married women aged 15 to 44. The source of data was 1985 National Fertility and Family Planning Survey conducted by Korea Institute for Population and Health in may 1985. 1. At the time of the survey, 53 percent of currently married women aged 15 to 44 had experienced induced abortion: 25.5 percent of the respondents who had experienced induced abortion only one time and another 27.6 percent more than two times. 2. The proportion of women who had experienced induced abortion seemed to increase according to the advance in age. It seemed that there was no significant difference in the experience rate of induced abortion by academic career, and there was inverse relationship between the experience rate of induced abortion and the age at first marriage. The experience rate if induced abortion by the number of living children was highest among those who had three children as 65.6 percent. 3. To analyze the effect of induced abortion on fertility, this study employed multiple regression analysis as a statistical technique. Instead of index representing fertility level the number of living children served as dependent variable. Independent variables used in analysis included age, age at first marriage, education level, ideal number of children, religion, frequency of induced abortion, total number of pregnancies and participation in labor force. Standardized partial regression coefficient of induced abortion was no less than -0.61. So, it can be concluded that induced abortion offered the great contribution on the birth control. A consistant health education and efficient management of family planning program would be essential for effectiveness of contraceptive practice.
