  • What are the critical factors in deciding future career to the gifted and talented students? The present study started with this question, and was to develop a career decision-making scale for scientifically gifted undergraduates. For this, literatures related to the scientifically gifted/talent and scientists' career decision-making were reviewed and examined in depth. Based on the review of the related literature, the developed scale of career decision-making was comprised of 26 items in 6 factors, such as individual aptitude & self-realization, economic aspect, work & leisure, familial influence, parents/teachers' recommendation, and experience of science activity during the school days. For the preliminary exploratory factor analysis, 153 undergraduate students who were majoring in natural sciences and engineer participated in the study. For the confirmatory factor analysis, 264 undergraduates who were awarded the presidential scholarships and 93 undergraduates who completed a university-affiliated gifted education center participated. The results of the study are as follows. The fit of measurement model was found to be $x^{2}$=645.157 (df=279, p=.00), TLI=.924, CFI= .935, RMSEA=.061, indicating most of fit indexes were acceptable. Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ in each sub-factor was quite high, .82 for individual aptitude & self-realization, .94 for economic aspect, .84 for work and leisure, .88 for familial influence, .79 for patents/ teachers' recommendation, and .79 for experience of science activity during the school days. The results of the study were discussed whether the developed scale could be used as a valid and reliable tool for measuring career decision-making factors of the scientifically gifted undergraduates in our country.

  • This study was carried out as a preliminary study to analyze the effect of parenting attitudes on the career decision-making types of middle school students. We analyzed the mediating effect of self-efficacy to develop a program that can be implemented jointly at home and at school to help middle school students who are facing the Free Semester System in 2016 to form an ideal career decision-making type. To that end, a survey was conducted with 345 students attending a middle school located in Northern Seoul, and the 335 valid questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS v22. In the sociodemographic analysis, there was no difference in parenting attitudes between groups in terms of religion and family income. The democratic attitude of parents had the greatest impact on the rational career decision-making type, while the permissive attitude had a partial effect. The authoritarian attitude had no effect. Self-efficacy had a mediating effect in only the relationship between democratic parenting attitude and the rational career decision-making type. These findings imply that to help middle school students form a rational career decision-making type, intervention in variables other than self-efficacy is necessary in addition to parent education.

The subjects of the study were 195 nursing students located in G city, data were collected from April to October 2019. The data analysis used the SPSS 24.0 program and descriptive statistics, correlation, and multiple regression analysis were conducted. As a result of the study, the father's parenting attitude was 41.84±7.55 points, the mother's parenting attitude was 42.97±8.74 points, grit was 103.43±12.74 points, and career decision-making self-efficacy was 76.99±10 points. Career decision-making self-efficacy was a significant negative correlation with the father's parenting attitude (r=-.228, p<.001), Mother's parenting attitude (r=-.257, p<.001). However, There was a significant positive correlation with grit(r=.584, p<001). The major factors that affect the career decision-making self-efficacy were grit(β=.553, p<.001), and It's explanatory power was 35.2%. Therefore, in order to improve the career decision-making self-efficacy of nursing students, guidance and education using a strategy to increase grit is necessary.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine whether job-seeking stress, career decision-making self-efficacy, self-esteem, and academic achievement had an influence on nursing students' happiness. Methods: The participants were 147 nursing students in D city. Data were collected with a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed with SPSS/WIN 19.0 using ANOVA, t-test, Pearson correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: Factors that had an influence on happiness included major satisfaction(highly unsatisfied ${\beta}=-.251$, p=.001), average monthly family income(between four and six million won ${\beta}=.222$, p=.002), career decision-making self-efficacy(${\beta}=.198$, p=.010), major satisfaction(satisfied ${\beta}=.196$, p=.006), and subjective health(unhealthy ${\beta}=-.167$, p=.020). These factors explained 33.5% of the variance in student happiness. Conclusion: The results of this study reveal that career decision-making self-efficacy, self-esteem, major satisfaction, and job-seeking stress were important intrinsic factors in the happiness of nursing students. Thus, it is necessary to help these students attain more self-efficacy, self-esteem, and major satisfaction rather than focusing on academic achievement in order to increase their happiness.

A convenience sample of 230 nursing student was selected from S city, between 20 October and 10 November 2017. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression analysis with the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Factors that influenced career maturity included gender(t=2.117, p=.035), age(t=-2.572, p=.011), grade(F=4.716, p=.010), education at the time of admission(t=-2.695, p=.008) and perceived academic achievement(F=11.127, p<.001). Career maturity showed a positive correlation with career decision-making self-efficacy(r=.585, p<.001) and problem solving ability(r=.407, p <.001), but a negative correlation with job-seeking stress(r=-.424, p<.001). Regression analysis revealed that significant factors influencing career maturity were career decision-making self-efficacy, problem solving ability and job-seeking stress. This regression model explained 42.8% of the variance in the career maturity. Based on these findings, it is necessary to develop and test programs to ensure an improvement in career decision-making self-efficacy, problem solving ability and job-seeking stress among nursing students to increase their career maturity.

The data collected from 231 second-year nursing students were analyzed using SPSS WIN 25.0 to determine descriptive statistics, paired t-test to analyze the effect of calligraphy, and Pearson correlation coefficient to determine the relationship between career decision self-efficacy and self-leadership. After the program, both career decision self-efficacy (t=7.23, p<.001) and self-leadership (t=6.81, p<.001) improved. The analysis of career decision self-efficacy and self-leadership after the program showed a strong correlation (r=.849, p<.001). The results of this study are significant in that they validate the effectiveness of a calligraphy program in promoting self-leadership and career decision-making self-efficacy among nursing students who do not have clear career goals. Students' overall satisfaction with the calligraphy program was 4/5 points, and they most highly evaluated the smooth interaction between fellow students through the program. At a time when the importance of cultural arts education is gradually increasing in social and educational fields around the world, calligraphy has the advantage of laying the foundation for the promotion of basic arts for the revitalization of cultural arts, so educational support is needed not only in terms of improving the quality of life and pursuing self-actualization of individuals with emotional expression and creative problem-solving skills, but also at the social level.

Next, the significance of the regression model, considering the specific factors of career barriers in relation to employment confidence, was established as p<.001. Variables such as a lack of interest, limited access to job information, and lack of self-clarity had a negative (-) effect on the level of employment confidence, with a significance level of 0.05.
