Nondestructive evaluation (NDE) technique method using a resonance frequency mode was carried out for woodceramics produced at different carbonizing temperatures (600℃, 800℃, 1000℃, 1200℃, 1500℃) at the phenol resin impregnation rate of 70%, for three kinds of species (Pinus densifora, Pinus koraiensis, Larix leptolepis), respectively. There was a poor relationship between density and static bending MOR. However, close correlations were found between dynamic MOEd and static bending MOR, and between static MOEs and MOR. Especially, the correlation coefficient was highest between MOEd and static bending MOR. Therefore, the MOEd using the resonance frequency mode is useful as a NDE method for predicting the MOR of woodceramics produced at different carbonizing temperatures.
This study was carried out to use carbonized medium density fiberboard (MDF) for the replacement of sound absorbing material. Carbonization treatment was performed to improve sound absorption property for MDF at carbonizing temperatures of $500^{\circ}C$, $700^{\circ}C$, $900^{\circ}C$ and $1100^{\circ}C$. As the carbonization temperature increased, the results of the observation by scanning electron microscope (SEM) demonstrated that the fibers exhibited a more compressed morphology within the surface section of the MDF than those within the middle section of MDF. As the carbonizing temperature increased, the cavity increased. The sound absorption coefficient increased between the temperatures of $500^{\circ}C$ and $900^{\circ}C$, but decreased at a temperature of $1100^{\circ}C$. The sound absorption properties of the carbonized MDF and the non-carbonized MDF were compared. The maximum sound absorption coefficient of the carbonized MDF was 12.38%. This was almost double of the value of the non-carbonized MDF.
This paper reports the mechanical properties of bending, compression and hardness of woodceramics manufactured at different carbonizing temperatures (600℃, 800℃, 1000℃, 1200℃ and 1500℃) in a vacuum sintering furnace using sawdust boards of Pinus densiflora, Pinus koraiensis and Larix kaemferi. The highest values of bending MOR (MORb) were 104 kgf/cm2 (1200℃), 91 kgf/cm2 (1500℃) and 86 kgf/cm2 (1500℃), the highest values of compression strength were 152 kgf/cm2(1200℃)), 160 kgf/cm2(1000℃) and 189 kgf/cm2(1000℃), the highest values of hardness were 2.00 kgf/mm2(800℃), 2.01 kgf/mm2 (1200℃) and 2.28 kgf/mm2 (1000℃) in P. densifora, L. kaemferi and P. koraiensis, respectively. The carbonizing temperature of 600℃ was not proper to the mechanical properties for three kinds of sawdust boards and the highest values of mechanical properties were different from the kinds of mechanical properties and species of sawdust boards. Therefore, it is necessary to manufacture woodceramics at a proper temperature for particular species of sawdust boards to obtain good mechanical properties.
This study investigated electrical properties and far-infrared ray emission according to the carbonizing temperature and phenol-formaldehyde (PF) resin impregnation ratio of ceramics manufactured using sawdust and rice husk. The far-infrared ray emission values and emission energy values decreased as the carbonizing temperature increased. The far-infrared ray emission values of the ceramics manufactured using a carbonizing process at $600^{\circ}C$ and a board with a PF resin impregnation ratio of 60 percent was 0.930; the emission energy presented the highest value of $4.32{\times}10w/m^2$. The electric resistance decreased as the carbonizing temperature increased. For the increase in the carbonizing temperature above $1200^{\circ}C$, ceramics was very close to a conductor due to the small resistance. The power consumption increased by the decrease of electric resistance and increase of the electric current in the case of a higher resin impregnation ratio.
The change in surface temperature of woodceramics, made from thinned logs of Pinus densiflora, were investigated, by the impregnation ratio and carbonizing temperature. As the surface temperature of silicon rubber heater was going up, that of woodceramics also increase rapidly. In case of heaters surface temperature at 70℃, the surface temperature of woodceramics was 53.9℃ when a sample was the impregnation ratio of 80%, while it was 54.2℃ when a sample was at 1,000℃ in carbonizing temperature, showing the highest. Also, it was found that woodceramics maintained heat for a long time because the descending velocity of their surface temperature was lower than that of the heater.
Nondestructive evaluation (NDE) technique method using a resonance frequency mode was carried out for ceramics made by different carbonizing temperatures (600, 800, 1000, $1200^{\circ}C$) after impregnating the phenol resin with Miscanthus sinensis var. purpurascen particle boards. Dynamic modulus of elasticity increased with increasing carbonizing temperature. There were a close relationship of dynamic modulus of elasticity and static bending modulus of elasticity to modulus of rupture (MOR). However, the result indicated that correlation coefficient was higher in dynamic modulus of elasticity to MOR than that in static modulus of elasticity to MOR. Therefore, the dynamic modulus of elasticity using resonance frequency by free vibration mode is more useful as a nondestructive evaluation method for predicting the MOR of ceramics made by different carbonizing temperature for Miscanthus sinensis var. purpurascens particle boards.
This study has been conducted to develop a new recycling technology of sewage sludge using a carbonization process. The carbonizing yield, the calorific value and EC(electric conductivity) of carbonized sewage sludge had a tendency to be decreased with increase of the carbonizing temperature and time, but pH and the C/N were increased with increase the carbonizing temperature and time. The whole pore volume of carbonized sludge processed in the carbonizing furnace was /g, which was smaller than that in the electric furnace. But, the rates of mesopore and macropore were found to account for 100% therein. Rate of color and organic materials removal for dyeing wastewater were determined 70~97%, 78~83% on cotton yarn, 88~96%, 69~80% on wool wastewater and 77~89%, 77~87% on towel compared with powder activated carbon. Effect of carbonized sludge on chrysanthemum growth was investigated. Plant height and number of leaves was better mixture of carbonized sludge than comparison.
Nondestructive evaluation (NDE) technique method using a resonance frequency mode was carried out for woodceramics made by different carbonizing temperature (600, 800, 1000, $1200^{\circ}C$) for Broussonetia kazinoki Sieb. Dynamic modulus of elasticity increased with increasing carbonizing temperature. There was a close relationship of dynamic modulus of elasticity and static bending modulus of elasticity to MOR. Therefore, the dynamic modulus of elasticity using resonance frequency mode is useful as a nondestructive evaluation method for predicting the MOR of woodceramics made by different carbonizing temperature for B. kazinoki Sieb.
The experimental study has been done for two kinds of pelletized RDFs to Investigate the carbonization effect to the chlorine concentrations, the heating value and the yield of Produced char in variable conditions of the carbonizing temperature and reaction time. One(RDF-1) is made of 100% wasted plastics and the other(RDF-2) is made of 60% wasted paper with 40% wasted plastics. The screw type carbonizer heated Indirectly by oil burner was used for the experiment and RDF feeding rate was 3kg/hr. The carbonizing temperature was 300, 350 400 and $45^{\circ}C$ and the reaction tine was 5, 10 and 15 minutes respectively. As the increase of carbonizing reaction time and temperature, the chlorine reduction rate was increased and oppositely the yield of char was decreased At the temperature of $400^{\circ}C$ and reaction time of 10 minutes the chlorine reduction rate was 60% and the char yield rate was 80% for the RDF-1 and those of RDF-2 were 80% and 75%, respectively. Additional activation experiment to the char produced from RDF-2 was done in the activation reactor by hot steam supply. As the increase of activation time the iodine number was increased. At the activation time of 20 minutes the iodine number was 552mg/g and the yield of activated carbon was 16%.

Experiments on carbonization were conducted using fish offal generated from fish market for the purpose of resource recycling. Elemental composition of fish offal and effect of carbonation temperature on the overall yield were investigated. Carbon and hydrogen contents of fish offal were 51.1% and 7.6%, respectively in view of elemental composition. Particularly, nitrogen and sulfur contents were as high as 9.8% and 1.0%, respectively. These values suggests that odor problem of fish offal can be serious. Comparing elemental composition of fish offal with other waste materials, it is thought that carbon and hydrogen contents are considerably high. These implies that thermal disposal will be the best option for final disposal method of fish offal. As a results of carbonization experiments on Mackerel, Hairtail, Croaker and mixed sample of Mackerel, Hairtail and Croaker, carbonization patterns were quite similar irrespective of fish species. Carbonization yield was varied significantly depending on carbonization temperature at the carbonization time of 5 minutes and 10 minutes. When the carbonization time was maintained longer than 30 minutes, yield variation depending on time variation at each temperature was insignificant. Thus, it can be concluded that effect of carbonization time on overall yield was minor when the carbonization time was maintained longer than 30 minutes. Primary vaporization in carbonization conducted at the temperature of $400^{\circ}C$ was minor. Thus, difference of yield between temperature of $500^{\circ}C$ and $400^{\circ}C$ was appeared greatly. It can be concluded that yield difference depending on carbonization temperature can be neglected if the carbonizing temperature exceed $600^{\circ}C$ and carbonizing time exceed 10 minutes at the same time.
