탄소나노튜브/V2O5 나노선 헤테로 구동소자 특성연구 (MWCNTs/V2O5 Nanowire Hetero-junction Actuator Devices)

  • Hetero-junction sheet actuator composed of carbon nanotubes and $V_{2}O_5$ nanowires were demonstrated in a bimetal configuration. The successive filtration of $V_{2}O_5$ nanowire solution followed by carbon nanotube dispersed water solution in the same way produced a dark-gray colored sheet. A significant actuation was observed in sodium chloride electrolyte solution with a bending direction to the carbon nanotube side at the positive bias voltage against the copper counter-electrode. As the frequency of the applied voltage increased, the amplitudes decreased, indicating a rather slow response of the hetero-film actuator in the electrolyte solution. The hybrid structure enabled an easy fabrication of the film actuator with the enhanced efficiencies.

  • This paper is dedicated to nonlinear static and free vibration analysis of Uniform Distributed Carbon Nanotube Reinforced Composite (UD-CNTRC) structures under in-plane loading. The authors have suggested an efficient six-node triangular element. Mixed Interpolation of Tensorial Components (MITC) approach is employed to alleviate the membrane locking phenomena. Moreover, the behavior of the well-known LST element is considerably improved by applying an additional linear interpolation on the strain fields. Based on the rule of mixture, the properties of CNTRC are obtained. In this study, only the uniform distributed CNTs are employed through the thickness direction of element. To achieve the natural frequencies and shape modes, the eigenvalue problem is also solved. Using Total Lagrangian Principles, large amplitude free vibration is considered based on the first normalized mode shape of structure. Different well-known plane problem benchmarks and some proposed ones are studied to validate the accuracy and capability of authors' formulations. In addition, the effects of length to the height ratio of beam, CNT's characteristics, support conditions and normalized amplitude parameter on the linear and nonlinear vibration parameters are investigated.

  • Growth mechanism of carbon nanotubes(CNTs) synthesized by chemical vapor deposition is abided by two growth modes. These growth modes are classified by the position of activated catalytic metal particle in the CNTs. Growth mode can be also affected by interaction between substrate and catalytic metal and induced energy such as thermal and plasma. We studied the reaction of catalytic metal to the substrate and growth mode of CNTs. Various substrates such as Si(100), graphite plate, coming glass, sapphire and AAO membrane are used to study the relation between catalytic metal and substrate in the synthesis of CNTs. For catalytic metal, thin film was deposited on various substrate via sputtering technique with a thickness of ∼20nm and magnetic fluids with none-sized particles were dispersed on AAO membrane. After laying process on AAO membrane, it was dried at 80$^{\circ}C$ for 8 hour. Synthesizing of CNTs was carried out at 900$^{\circ}C$ in NH3/C2H2 mixture gases flow for 10minutes.

  • 화학기상증착법과 Ni 나노입자 배열을 이용한 탄소나노튜브의 최적 성장 조건을 연구했다. Ni 입자의 크기를 변화시키는 방법으로 탄소나노튜브의 직경을 20 nm 이하까지 제어할 수 있었다. 개별 Ni 입자의 크기와 위치는 기존의 식각법 등을 이용하여 웨이퍼 수준의 대면적에서 연속적으로 제어가 가능하였다. 성장온도, 탄소원, 희석가스 등의 비율을 최적화 함으로써 $SiO_2/Si$ 웨이퍼의 넓은 면적에서 각 Ni 입자로부터 단 한 개씩의 탄소나노튜브가 100% 확률로 성장 가능하다는 것을 보였다. 탄소나노튜브의 위치, 직경, 벽두께 등의 특성들은 성장조건을 조정하여 제어가능하다는 것을 보였다.

  • 탄소나노튜브는 우수한 기계적 특성, 전기적 및 자기적 성질 뿐만 아니라 나노 크기의 직경 및 높은 종횡비를 나타낸다. 이는 고강도 고분자 복합체의 이상적인 보강제로 사용할 수 있다. 기능성이 부과된 탄소나노튜브는 기능성 재료 및 복합재료의 제조와 같은 분야에서 아주 유력한 재료로 믿어진다. 탄소나노튜브-고분자 복합체는 탄소나노튜브의 우수한 기능성과 고분자의 우수한 가공성을 가질 것으로 기대된다. 그러나, 탄소나노튜브는 보통 반 델 바알스 작용에 의한 안정화된 번들을 형성하기 때문에 고분자 기지에 배열이나 분산이 상당히 어렵다. 탄소나노튜브 강화복합체의 제조에서 가장 큰 이슈는 고분자내에 탄소나노튜브의 효과적인 분산이며, 기지내에 탄소나노튜브의 배열과 양의 조절이다. 고분자 기지내에 탄소나노튜브의 분산은 용액혼합, 벌크 혼합, 용융혼합, 즉시 고분자화 반응 및 탄소나노튜브의 화학적 기능화 등과 같은 몇 가지 방법이 있다. 본 논평에서는 이들 방법과 고성능 탄소나노튜브-고분자 복합체의 제조에 대하여 서술하고자 한다.

Nanocomposite-Based Energy Converters for Long-Range Focused Ultrasound Treatment

  • A nanostructure composite is a highly suitable substance for photoacoustic ultrasound generation. This allows an input laser beam (typically, nanosecond pulse duration) to be efficiently converted to an ultrasonic output with tens-of-MHz frequency. This type of energy converter has been demonstrated by using a carbon nanotube (CNT)-polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) composite film that exhibit high optical absorption, rapid heat transition, and mechanical durability, all of which are necessary properties for high-amplitude ultrasound generation. In order to develop the CNT-PDMS composite film, a high-temperature chemical vapor deposition (HTCVD) method has been commonly used so far to grow CNT and then produce a CNT-PDMS composite structure. Here, instead of the complex HTCVD, we use a mixed solution of hydrophobic multi-walled CNT and dimethylformamid (DMF) and fabricate a solution-processed CNT-PDMS composite film over a spherically concave substrate, i.e. a focal energy converter. As the solution process can be applied over a large area, we could easily fabricate the focal transmitter that focuses the photoacoustic output at the moment of generation from the CNT-PDMS composite layer. With this method, we developed photoacoustic energy converters with a large diameter (>25 mm) and a long focal length (several cm). The lens performance was characterized in terms of output pressure amplitude for an incident pulsed laser energy and focal spot dimension in both lateral and axial. Due to the long focal length, we expect that the new lens can be applied for long-range ultrasonic treatment, e.g. biomedical therapy.

Photodegradation of MB on Fe/CNT-TiO2 Composite Photocatalysts Under Visible Light

  • The composite photocatalysts of a Fe-modified carbon nanotube (CNT)-$TiO_2$ were synthesized by a two-step sol-gel method at high temperature. Its chemical composition and surface properties were investigated by BET surface area, scanning electron microscope (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy. The results showed that the BET surface area was improved by modification of Fe, which was related to the adsorption capacity for each composite. Interesting thin layer aggregates of nanosized $TiO_2$ were observed from TEM images, probably stabilized by the presence of CNT, and the surface and structural characterization of the samples was carried out. The XRD results showed that the Fe/CNT-$TiO_2$ composites contained a mix of anatase and rutile forms of $TiO_2$ particles when the precursor is $TiOSO_4{\cdot}xH_2O$ (TOS). An excellent photocatalytic activity of Fe/CNT-$TiO_2$ was obtained for the degradation of methylene blue (MB) under visible light irradiation. It was considered that Fe cation could be doped into the matrix of $TiO_2$, which could hinder the recombination rate of the excited electrons/holes. The photocatalytic activity of the composites was also found to depend on the presence of CNT. The synergistic effects among the Fe, CNT and $TiO_2$ components were responsible for improving the visible light photocatalytic activity.

MWCNT thin film based supercapictor using spray deposition and gel electrolytes

  • In recent years, electrochemical supercapacitors have attracted much attention due to their high power density, long life cycles, and high efficiency. Some supercapacitors using CNTs have been reported, but there are several issues to be resolved for further development of CNT based supercapacitors. One issue is time consuming procedures to prepare CNT films, which may provide poor control of CNT uniformity over the large area of the substrates. Another is new electrolytes replacing the conventional liquid electrolytes in supercapacitors. In this work, We have successfully demonstrated that spray deposition method of multiwalled CNT films using gel electroytes could be promising for CNT-based supercapacitors on ITO substrates. Specific capacitances using gel electrolyte reached up to 1.5 F/g and 9 mF/$cm^2$, and internal resistance was 28 ${\Omega}$. Specific capacitances and internal resistance of supercapacitors with gel electrolyte were better than or comparable to those with liquid electrolytes($KNO_3$, $Na_2SO_4$), indicating that gel electrolytes could replace liquid counterparts in CNT-based supercapacitors. Combined with gel electrolyte, spray deposition method could provide low cost and easily scalable process for high performance supercapacitors using CNT films on ITO for applications in display devices.

탄소나노튜브 밀도를 고려한 CNTFET SRAM 디자인 방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Circuit Design Method of CNTFET SRAM Considering Carbon Nanotube Density)

  • CNTFET은 기존 반도체 소자의 성능을 약 13배 향상시킬 수 있어 큰 관심을 받아 왔지만, CNT를 일정하게 배치시키는 공정의 미성숙으로 인해 상용화에 어려움을 겪어 왔다. 이러한 어려움을 극복하기 위해, 그동안 알려진 CNTFET 공정상 한계를 고려한 회로 디자인 방법이 점점 높은 관심을 받고 있다. SRAM은 마이크로프로세서를 구성하는 주요 요소로서 캐시 메모리 안에 규칙적으로 그리고 반복적으로 배치되어 있어, SRAM 안의 CNT는 다른 회로 블록에 비해 보다 쉽게 그리고 고밀도로 배치될 수 있는 장점이 있다. 이러한 장점을 활용하기 위해, 본 논문에서는 CNT 밀도를 고려한 SRAM 셀의 회로 디자인 방법을 소개하고 그 성능 향상 정도를 HSPICE 시뮬레이션으로 검토하고자 한다. 시뮬레이션 결과, SRAM에 CNTFET을 적용할 경우, gate width를 약 1.7배 줄일 수 있음을 발견하였으며, 동일한 gate width에서 CNT 밀도를 높였을 경우, 읽기 속도 또한 약 2배 정도 향상될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

탄소나노튜브를 이용한 고휘도 X-선원용 전자빔원 개발 (Development of an electron source using carbon nanotube field emittes for a high-brightness X-ray tube)

  • 고휘도 마이크로빔 X-선원에 사용할 고휘도 전자빔원을 탄소나노튜브를 이용하여 설계, 제작하였다. 전자빔원은 탄소나노튜브 팁을 이용한 음극, 전자빔 인출용 그리드, 전자빔 가속용 양극으로 이루어진 삼극관 형태의 구조를 가진다. 설계된 휘도 값을 얻기 위하여 X-선 발생부에서의 전자빔 직경이 5 $\mu$m 이하, 빔전류가 약 30 $\mu$A 이상이 요구된다 이러한 요구조건을 만족시키기 위하여, EGUN Code를 이용하여 전자빔의 궤적 및 공간분포 등을 계산함으로써, 탄소나노튜브 팁 및 전자빔원의 구조 등을 최적화 하였다. 제작된 탄소나노튜브 팁은 직경 200 $\mu$m 의 텅스텐 와이어를 전기화학적으로 에칭하여 그 끝을 뽀족하게 만든 뒤 텅스텐의 끝 부분에 탄소나 노튜브를 화학기상법으로 증착하여 제작하였다. 제작된 탄소나노튜브를 이용하여 전자빔 인출실험을 수행하였다. 개발 중인 탄소나노튜브 팁을 이용한 고휘도 전자빔원의 설계 특성 및 기초 실험결과를 보고한다.
