탄소평형법을 적용한 천연가스 자동차의 연비 산출 방법 고찰 (A Study on Fuel Economy Determination of Natural Gas Vehicle Using Carbon Balance Method)

  • 본 연구는 천연가스를 기반으로 하는 가스연료 자동차의 연비산출방법에 대해 미국과 유럽의 기준을 조사하고 적합성을 분석하여 국내에 적합한 자동차 연비 산출방법을 도출하는데 목적이 있다. 탄소평형법으로 유도되는 연료소비율 산출은 연료의 탄소중량비와 자동차 배출가스중 탄소성분의 평형 관계식에 의해 유도된다. 미국기준은 시험가스 조성의 제한이 없지만 유럽 기준은 기준 시험가스(G20, G23)를 사용하여야 한다. 국내 도시가스를 사용하는 NGV의 경우 유럽기준을 적용하면 시험가스의 차이로 연비가 약 12% 불리하게 나오는 것으로 확인되었다. 또한, 연비 산출시 필요한 연료물성을 발열량으로부터 결정하는 방법을 소개하고 이러한 방법을 기반으로 국내 천연가스 자동차 연비 산출방법을 제시하였다.

  • Carbon nannofiber reinforced Cu matrix composite has potential applications for electrically conducting materials having high strength and electrical conductivity. In this study, we have developed fabrication technology of the nanocomposites using a liquid pressing process. The process is to use the low pressure for infiltration of Cu melt into carbon nanofiber mat as the Cu melt is pressurized directly. The minimum pressure required for infiltration was calculated from force balance equation, permeability measurement and compaction behavior of carbon nanofiber. Also, the melting temperature and the holding time have been optimized.

지구규모의 탄소 순환 및 물질수지 연구 (Global Carbon Cycle and Budget Study)

  • A global carbon cycle model (GCCM), that incorporates interaction among the terrestrial biosphere, ocean, and atmosphere, was developed to study the carbon cycling aid global carbon budget, especially due to anthropogenic $CO_2$ emission. The model that is based on C, 13C and 14C mass balance, was calibrated with the observed $CO_2$ concentration, $\delta$13C and $\Delta$14C in the atmosphere, Δ14C in the soil, and $\Delta$14C in the ocean. Also, GCCM was constrained by the literature values of oceanic carbon uptake and CO, emissions from deforestation. Inputs (forcing functions in the model) were the C, 13C and 14C as $CO_2$ emissions from fossil fuel use, and 14C injection into the stratosphere by bomb-tests. The simulated annual carbon budget of 1980s due to anthropoRenic $CO_2$ shows that the global sources were 5.43 Gt-C/yr from fossil fuel use and 0.91 Gt-C/yr from deforestation, and the sinks were 3.29 Gt-C/yr in the atmosphere, 0.90 Gt-C/yr in the terrestrial biosphere and 2.15 Gt-C/yr in the ocean. The terrestrial biosphere is currently at zero net exchange with the atmosphere, but carbon is lost cia organic carbon runoff to the ocean. The model could be utilized for a variety of studies in $CO_2$ policy and management, climate modeling, $CO_2$ impacts, and crop models.

Applying methane and carbon flow balances for determination of first-order landfill gas model parameters

  • Landfill gas (LFG) emissions from a given amount of landfill waste depend on the carbon flows in the waste. The objective of this study was to more accurately estimate the first-order decay parameters through methane (CH4) and carbon flow balances based on the analysis of a full-scale landfill with long-term data and detailed field records on LFG and leachate. The carbon storage factor for the case-study landfill was 0.055 g-degradable organic carbon (DOC) stored per g-wet waste and the amounts of DOC lost with the leachate were less than 1.3%. The appropriate CH4 generation rate constant (k) for bulk waste was 0.24 y-1. The the CH4 generation potential (L0) values ranged 33.7-46.7 m3-CH4 Mg-1, based on the fraction of DOC that can decompose (DOCf) value of 0.40. Results show that CH4 and carbon flow balance methods can be used to estimate model parameters appropriately and to predict long-term carbon emissions from landfills.

  • 반폐쇄성 기수호인 Obuchi호에서 수질과 생물학적 mass balance를 평가하기 위해 생태계 모델을 개발하고 적용하였다. 2001년 1월부터 2002년 12월까지 관찰된 조석의 차이, 강으로부터의 유입수 및 기상 변수들에 대한 시계열 자료들을 hydrodynamic 모델의 변수들로 접목시켰다. 수질과 생물생체량 balance는 생태계 모델에 의해 평가되었으며, 모의된 수질 값은 관찰 값과 일치하였다. 호수에서 모델에 의해 계산된 POC와 식물플랑크톤, 동물플랑크톤의 carbon 함량은 각각 7,200 kg, 1,500 kg, 22 kg으로 나타났으며, 이는 관찰 값 POC (5,900 kg), 식물플랑크톤 (3,800 kg)밍, 동물플랑크톤 (150 kg)과 어느 정도 비교할 수 있었다.

Electrochemical Activation of Nitrate Reduction to Nitrogen by Ochrobactrum sp. G3-1 Using a Noncompartmented Electrochemical Bioreactor

  • A denitrification bacterium was isolated from riverbed soil and identified as Ochrobactrum sp., whose specific enzymes for denitrification metabolism were biochemically assayed or confirmed with specific coding genes. The denitrification activity of strain G3-1 was proportional to glucose/nitrate balance, which was consistent with the theoretical balance (0.5). The modified graphite felt cathode with neutral red, which functions as a solid electron mediator, enhanced the electron transfer from electrode to bacterial cell. The porous carbon anode was coated with a ceramic membrane and cellulose acetate film in order to permit the penetration of water molecules from the catholyte to the outside through anode, which functions as an air anode. A non-compartmented electrochemical bioreactor (NCEB) comprised of a solid electron mediator and an air anode was employed for cultivation of G3-1 cells. The intact G3-1 cells were immobilized in the solid electron mediator, by which denitrification activity was greatly increased at the lower glucose/nitrate balance than the theoretical balance (0.5). Metabolic stability of the intact G3-1 cells immobilized in the solid electron mediator was extended to 20 days, even at a glucose/nitrate balance of 0.1.

항공기 브레이크 재료용 탄소/탄소 복합재료의 마찰 및 마모 거동 (Friction and Wear Behavior of Carbon/Carbon Composites for Aircraft Brake Material)

  • Friction and wear behavior of a carbon/carbon composite material for aircraft brake material was experimentally investigated. Friction and wear test setup was designed and built for the experiment. Friction and wear tests were conducted under various sliding conditions. Friction coefficients were measured and processed by a data acquisition system and amount of wear measured by a balance. Stainless steel disk was used as the counterface material. Temperature was also measured by inserting thermocouple 2.5 mm beneath the sliding surface of the carbon/carbon composite specimen. Wear surfaces were observed by SEM, and analyzed by EDAX. The experimental results showed that sliding speed and normal force did not have significant effects on friction coefficient and wear factor of the composite. Temperature increase just below the surface was not large enough to cause any thermal degradation or oxidation which occurred at higher temperature when tested by TGA. Wear film was generated both on the specimen and on the counterface at relatively low sliding speed but cracks, grooves, and wear debris were observed at high sliding speed. Friction coefficient remained almost constant when the sliding speed or normal load was varied. It is believed that the adhesive and abrasive components contributed mainly to the friction coefficient. Wear behavior at low sliding speed was governed by wear film formation and adhesive wear mechanism. At high speed, fiber orientation, ploughing by counterface asperities, and fiber breakage dominated wear of the carbon/carbon composite.

보리-고추와 보리-콩 작부체계에서 이산화탄소수지 평가 (Evaluation of CO2 Balance in the Barley-Red Pepper and Barley-Soybean Cropping System)

  • 온실가스의 농도 증가에 따른 지구온난화로 기후변화 및 환경적 영향이 증가하고 있으며, 다른 산업 분야별 온실가스 저감 노력이 계속 되고 있다. 농경지에서 온실가스 배출 저감 및 탄소 수지 연구를 통하여 농업생산 활동이 온실가스를 배출 이외에도 탄소를 고정 또는 축적 기능이 있다는 것을 밝히고자 하였다. 먼저 작물 작부체계에 따른 탄소 수지를 평가하고자 대기 중 이산화탄소 자동측정 장치를 개발하여 $CO_2$ 함량 변화를 조사하였다. 이를 통해 작물 생태계 내에서 보리-콩 및 보리-고추 작부체계의 생태계 순 생산량이 화학비료를 사용한 NPK 처리구와 돈분 퇴비를 추가한 NPK+돈분 퇴비 처리구를 두고 $CO_2$ 함량을 조사하였다. 보리-콩 작부체계의 NPK 및 NPK+퇴비처리구는 각 $6.3,\;10.6ton\;CO_2\;ha^{-1}$ 그리고 보리-고추작부체계에서는 $12.0,\;13.2ton\;CO_2\;ha^{-1}$이 축적된 것 으로 나타났다. 토양 탄소수지 평가에서는 보리-콩 작부체계에서 토양 유기 탄소 축적은 $0.7ton\;C\;ha^{-1}$, 보리-고추에서 $0.5ton\;C\;ha^{-1}$이 토양 중에 저장하였다. 이로써 농경지가 탄소 저장원 역할을 하는 것으로 해석할 수 있다.

SOFC 시스템용 디젤 자열개질기 운전을 위한 기초 연구 (Experimental study on operation of diesel autothermal reformer for SOFC system)

  • Diesel is an excellent candidate fuel for fuel cell applications due to its high hydrogen density and well-established infrastructure. But, it is hard to guarantee desirable performance of diesel reformer because diesel reforming has several problems such as sulfur poisoning of catalyst and carbon deposition. We have been focusing on diesel autothermal reforming(ATR) for substantial period. It is reported that ATR of diesel has several technical advantages such as relatively high efficiency and fuel conversion compared to steam reforming(SR) and partial oxidation(POX). In this paper, we investigate characteristics of diesel reforming under various ratios of reactants(oxygen to carbon ratio, steam to carbon ratio) for improvement of reforming performances(high reforming efficiency, high fuel conversion, low carbon deposition). We also exhibit calculated heat balance of autothermal reformer at each condition to help thermal management of SOFC system.
