New UWB BPF with Steep Selectivity Based on T-Resonator and Capacitively Coupled λ/4 and λ/2 Line Sections

  • In this paper, two new circuit structures for European and U.S. ultra-wide band(UWB) bandpass filters(BPFs) with sharp roll-off characteristics are introduced. We show first that the ultra-wide bandpass property is obtained from a $\lambda$/4 open T resonator with a capacitively coupled $\lambda$/4 short-circuited line, which provides two attenuation poles at lower and upper cutoff frequencies. Then, two identical capacitively coupled input/output lines, which can be $\lambda$/4-length open ends or $\lambda$/2-length short ends, with the T-resonator, are adopted to suppress lower and higher frequency components outside of the pass band. There is coupling between the input and output lines providing two additional transmission zeros in the lower and upper transition bands of the filter. Since the coupling between the T-resonator with the $\lambda$/4 short-circuited line and the input/output lines limits the bandwidth of the filter to the European UWB band, both the $\lambda$/4 short-circuited line and the input/output lines are inserted between the two stacked T-resonators for the U.S. UWB band. The filter structures are simulated with ADS and HFSS and realized with low-temperature co-fired ceramic(LTCC) green tape which has the dielectric constant of 7.8. Measurement results agree well with HFSS simulation results.

Wideband Bandstop Filter Based on Capacitively Coupled λ/4 Short-Circuited Lines

  • A new wideband bandstop filter(BSF) with a sharp roll-off characteristic is introduced in a stripline structure in this paper. The BSF consists of two sections: the first is two capacitively coupled $\lambda/4$ short-circuited lines with opposite ground positions, while the second is a capacitively coupled $\lambda/4$ short-circuited line. The BSF provides three transmission zeros within the stopband and better than 22 dB rejection over the whole wireless local area network (WLAN) band from 5.15 to 5.825 GHz. The BSF, cascaded to an U.S. ultra-wideband(UWB: 3.1~10.6 GHz) band-pass filter(BPF), is simulated with HFSS and realized with low-temperature co-fired ceramic(LTCC) green tape with a dielectric constant of 7.8. The measurement results agree well with the HFSS simulation results. The size of the UWB BPF including the BSF is $3{\times}6.3\times0.45\;mm^3$.

  • Coupling with a ring of capacitors introduces in-phase coupling current in multi-stage LC oscillators, increasing coupling strength and phase spacing accuracy. Capacitive coupling is effective at high-frequency applications because it increases coupling strength with the operating frequency. However, capacitive loading from the ring lowers operating frequency and reduces the tuning range. Mathematical expressions of phase noise and phase spacing accuracy with capacitive coupling are examined here, and transistor-level simulations confirm the effectiveness of the capacitive coupling.

  • 전자충격반응을 고려한 three moment 플라즈마 모델과 전기적 중성성분의 반응을 고려한 유체 유동 모델을 결합하여 용량결합형 산소플라즈마에 대한 2차원적 전산모사 연구를 수행하였다. 전자의 에너지에 의하여 좌우되는 전자충격반응에 대한 반응속도는 전자와 $O_2$ 및 O 사이의 전자충돌단면적으로부터 계산되었다. 플라즈마 모델과 유체 유동 모델을 결합하고 상세한 반응메커니즘을 포함시킴으로써 전하를 띠는 전자와 이온($O_2{^+}$, $O^+$, $O_2{^-}$, and $O^-$) 그리고 기저상태의 산소($O_2$ and O)뿐만 아니라 $O_2(a^1{\Delta}_g)$, $O_2(b^1{{\Sigma}_g}^+)$, $O(^1D)$, $O(^1S)$ 등과 같이 산소플라즈마 특성에 중요한 역할을 하는 준안정상태 성분들의 시공간적 분포를 예측할 수 있었다. 또한 산소플라즈마의 전산모사로부터 sheath 경계에 이중층이 존재함을 확인할 수 있었다.

비접지식 전기비저항 탐사 - 적용성과 한계 (Capacitively-coupled Resistivity Method - Applicability and Limitation)

  • 비접지식 전기비저항 탐사는 땅에 접지전극을 설치하기 어려운 곳에서 전기비저항 탐사를 수행할 수 있는 방법으로 국내에서도 관심이 높아지고 있는 방법이다. 이 방법의 기본원리는 땅과 송수신 안테나의 용량결합(capacitive coupling)에 의하여 지하로 전류를 주입하고 이에 의한 전위차를 측정하여 자료를 획득하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 쌍극자 및 단극 형태의 송수신 안테나를 일렬로 배치하는 방사 배열(radial array)에 대한 기하학적 상수를 유도하였다. 또한, 기존의 접지식 전기비저항 해석 알고리듬을 이용하여 비접지식 전기비저항 자료를 해석하기 위한 자료 전처리 및 변환 과정을 제시하였다. 즉, 획득된 탐사 자료를 기하학적 상수를 이용하여 일단 겉보기 비저항으로 변환한 후 쌍극자 배열이나 변형된 쌍극자 배열 자료로 보간 혹은 재샘플링함으로써 기존의 접지식 전기비저항 역산 알고리듬을 이용하여 해석하였는데, 동일 측선에서 수행한 접지식 및 비접지식 탐사 자료와 비교하여 그 타당성을 검증하였다. 비접지식 전기비저항 탐사법은 전류를 많이 주입할 수 없는 기기 상의 단점을 갖고 있음을 알 수 있었는데, 특히 전기비저항이 낮은 곳이나, 전기적 잡음이 심한 곳, 그리고 송수신 안테나의 접촉이 좋지 않은 지역에 적용함에 있어 세심한 주의가 요구된다. 그러나, 송수신 안테나를 일렬로 배열하여 견인함으로써 연속적으로 탐사 자료를 획득할 수 있고 전극 설치가 불가능한 지역에서 전기비저항 탐사를 수행할 수 있으므로, 신속하게 지하 천부에 대한 전기비저항 분포를 알고자 할 때 유용하게 쓰일 것으로 생각된다.

  • In this paper, poly methyl methacrylate thin films were deposited on a ITO glass substrate using a plasma polymerization technique. In order to investigate the influence of the plasma coupling method and plasma conditions on the plasma polymerized poly methyl methacrylate (ppMMA) thin film properties, inductively coupled (ICP) and capacitively coupled plasma (CCP) were used to generate the plasma and the plasma parameters were varied. Molecular structures of the ppMMAs were investigated using a Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. Dielectric constants of the ppMMA thin films were investigated using a impedance analyzer (HP4192A, LF Impedance Analyzer). Current-Voltage (I-V) characteristics of the ppMMA thin films were investigated using a source measurement unit (SMU: Keithley 2400). Relationship between the plasma coupling technique/process parameter and ppMMA thin films properties were investigated.

포장된 지표에서의 전기비저항 탐사 및 사례 연구 (Electrical Resistivity Survey on Paved Surface and Case Studies)

  • 최근 도심지의 발달과 전기비저항 탐사 적용 분야 및 현장의 확대에 따라, 포장된 지표에서 토양이나 지하 구조를 조사하기 위한 탐사의 필요성이 증가하고 있다. 과거에는 포장된 표면에서의 탐사는 포장재를 천공하거나 그 주변의 토양에서의 탐사로 대체하였다. 최근 포장재를 손상하지 않고 포장된 지표에서 탐사하는 방법 및 연구 사례들이 늘어남에 따라, 이 논문에서는 이에 대해 분석하고자 한다. 포장 지표에서의 전기비저항 탐사 방법을 기존의 천공 후 전극 삽입 방법, 평판 접지 전극 사용을 포함한 갈바닉 방법과 용량성 결합 방식으로 나누어 각 방법의 적용 사례를 조사하였다. 이를 통해 각 탐사 방법의 장단점과 탐사 현장의 특성을 고려하여 적절한 탐사 방법을 선택할 수 있음을 시사하였다. 마지막으로, 전기비 저항 탐사의 적용 가능성과 한계를 다양한 사례를 통해 분석하였습니다.

An Orthogonally Polarized Negative Resonance CRLH Patch Antenna

  • A novel fully-printed microstrip antenna with negative first resonance and dual polarization is proposed. The radiator is printed on the 1-layer substrate instead of multilayers. The -1st resonance results from a composite right- and left-handed(CRLH) structure that has a circumferentially interlocked gap capacitively coupling a patch with a shorted-ring. This compact antenna is provided with a dual-polarization capability by creating two orthogonal linear polarizations in one body with coaxial feeds. The design is carried out by doing full-wave EM field simulation which is compared with the measurement of the fabricated antenna prototype. The measured results give the gain of 5 dBi and the efficiency of 78% at the -1st resonance mode as the center frequency of a downlink channel of the bandwidth over 20 MHz with 29 dB polarization isolation for mobile communication.

Signal Transient and Crosstalk Model of Capacitively and Inductively Coupled VLSI Interconnect Lines

  • Analytical compact form models for the signal transients and crosstalk noise of inductive-effect-prominent multi-coupled RLC lines are developed. Capacitive and inductive coupling effects are investigated and formulated in terms of the equivalent transmission line model and transmission line parameters for fundamental modes. The signal transients and crosstalk noise expressions of two coupled lines are derived by using a waveform approximation technique. It is shown that the models have excellent agreement with SPICE simulation.

New UWB 1:2 Power Divider with Flat In-Band Splitting and Bandpass Filtering Functions

  • This paper introduces a new U.S. ultra-wideband(UWB: 3.1~10.6 GHz) 1:2 power divider based on a single section Wilkinson type configuration. The divider provides very flat in-band power splitting, high isolation, low insertion loss, sharp roll-off bandpass filtering, and DC blocking characteristics. The circuit consists of a $\lambda$/4 Y resonator, three capacitively coupled $\lambda$/2 short-circuited lines, and a resistor between the two output ports. The circuit structure was simulated with ADS and HFSS, and realized with low-temperature co-fired ceramic(LTCC) green tape, which has a dielectric constant of 7.8. $|S_{11}|$ better than 10 dB, $|S_{21}|$ and $|S_{31}|$ less than 3.2 dB, with both $|S_{22}|$ and $|S_{32}|$ measured as better than 12 dB for the whole UWB band. Measurement results agree closely with HFSS simulation results. The power divider has a compact size of $4\times9\times0.6mm^3$.
