Parameter Identification of Robot Hand Tracking Model Using Optimization (최적화 기법을 이용한 로봇핸드 트래킹 모델의 파라미터 추정)

  • In this paper, we present a position-based robot hand tracking scheme where a pan-tilt camera is controlled such that a robot hand is always shown in the center of an image frame. We calculate the rotation angles of a pan-tilt camera by transforming the coordinate systems. In order to identify the model parameters, we applied two optimization techniques: a nonlinear least square optimizer and a particle swarm optimizer. From the simulation results, it is shown that the considered parameter identification problem is characterized by a highly multimodal landscape; thus, a global optimization technique such as a particle swarm optimization could be a promising tool to identify the model parameters of a robot hand tracking system, whereas the nonlinear least square optimizer often failed to find an optimal solution even when the initial candidate solutions were selected close to the true optimum.

  • This paper presents a fast full search algorithm for motion estimation applicable to multiple reference images. The proposed method is an extended version of the rate constrained successive elimination algorithm (RSEA) for multiple reference frame applications. We will show that motion estimation for the reference images temporally preceding the first reference image can be less intensive in computation compared with that for the first reference image. for computational reduction, we will drive a new condition to lead the smaller number of candidate blocks for the best matched block. Simulation results explain that our method reduces computation complexity although it has the same quality as RSEA.

CNN based Sound Event Detection Method using NMF Preprocessing in Background Noise Environment

  • Sound event detection in real-world environments suffers from the interference of non-stationary and time-varying noise. This paper presents an adaptive noise reduction method for sound event detection based on non-negative matrix factorization (NMF). In this paper, we proposed a deep learning model that integrates Convolution Neural Network (CNN) with Non-Negative Matrix Factorization (NMF). To improve the separation quality of the NMF, it includes noise update technique that learns and adapts the characteristics of the current noise in real time. The noise update technique analyzes the sparsity and activity of the noise bias at the present time and decides the update training based on the noise candidate group obtained every frame in the previous noise reduction stage. Noise bias ranks selected as candidates for update training are updated in real time with discrimination NMF training. This NMF was applied to CNN and Hidden Markov Model(HMM) to achieve improvement for performance of sound event detection. Since CNN has a more obvious performance improvement effect, it can be widely used in sound source based CNN algorithm.

Particle Filtering based Object Tracking Method using Feedback and Tracking Box Correction (피드백과 박스 보정을 이용한 Particle Filtering 객체추적 방법론)

  • The object tracking method using particle filtering has been proved successful since it is based on the Monte Carlo simulation to estimate the posterior distribution of the state vector that is nonlinear and non-Gaussian in the real-world situation. In this paper, we present two nobel methods that can improve the performance of the object tracking algorithm based on the particle filtering. First one is the feedback method that replace the low-weighted tracking sample by the estimated state vector in the previous frame. The second one is an tracking box correction method to find an confidence interval of back projection probability on the estimated candidate object area. An sample propagation equation is also presented, which is obtained by experiments. We designed well-organized test data set which reflects various challenging circumstances, and, by using it, experimental results proved that the proposed methods improves the traditional particle filter based object tracking method.

  • The structural optimization have been carried out in the continuous design space or in the discrete design space. Methods fur discrete variables such as genetic algorithms , are extremely expensive in computational cost. In this research, an iterative optimization algorithm using orthogonal arrays is developed for design in discrete space. An orthogonal array is selected on a discrete des inn space and levels are selected from candidate values. Matrix experiments with the orthogonal array are conducted. New results of matrix experiments are obtained with penalty functions leer constraints. A new design is determined from analysis of means(ANOM). An orthogonal array is defined around the new values and matrix experiments are conducted. The final optimum design is found from iterative process. The suggested algorithm has been applied to various problems such as truss and frame type structures. The results are compared with those from a genetic algorithm and discussed.

Genetic Toxicity Test of Emodin by Ames, Micronucleus, Comet Assays and Microarray Analysis Showing Differential Result

  • Emodin (1,3,8-trihydroxy-6-methylanthraquinone) is a major constituent of rhubarb. Although it has been claimed to have a wild spectrum of therapeutic value, its side effects, especially in human kidney cells have not been well characterized. In this study, we have carried out in vitro genetic toxicity test of emodin and microarray analysis of differentially expressed genes in response to emodin. The result of Ames test showed mutations with emodin treatment in base substitution strain TA1535 both with and without exogenous metabolic activation. Likewise, emodin showed mutations in frame shift TA98 both with and without exogenous metabolic activation. The result of COMET assay in L5178Y cells with emodin treatment showed DNA damage both with and without exogenous metabolic activation. Emodin did not increase micronuclei in CHO cells both with and without exogenous metabolic activation. 150 Genes were selected as differentially expressed genes in response to emodin by microarray analysis and these genes would be candidate biomarkers of genetic toxic action of emodin.

  • Carbamates have excellent insecticidal activities against a broad spectrum of insects. They possess knocking-down, fast-killing, and systemic effects, however, they are toxic to mammals. In this study, we have carried out in vitro genetic toxicity test of methylcarbamate and microarray analysis of differentially expressed genes in response to methylcarbamate.   • Electroplating of Ag and Au on the functional area of lead frames are required for good bonding ability in IC packaging. As the patterns of the lead frame become finer, development of new deposition technology has been required for solving problems associated with process control for uniform thickness on selected area. Sputtering was employed to investigate the adhesion between substrate Alloy42 and Ag film as a new candidate process alternative to conventional electroplating. Coating thickness of Ag film was controlled to 3.5$\mu\textrm{m}$ at room temperature as a reference. The deposition of film was optimized to ensure the adhesion by process parameters of substrate heating temperature at $100~300^{\circ}C$, sputter etching time at -300V for 10~30min, bias voltage of -100~-500V, and existence of Cr interlayer film of $500\AA$. The critical $load L_{c}$ /, defined as the minimum load at which initial damage occurs, was the highest up to 29N at bias voltage of -500V by scratch test. AFM surface image and AES depth profile were investigated to analyze the interface. The effect of bias voltage in sputtering was to improve the surface roughness and remove the oxide on Alloy42.

Performance Evaluation of the Tip-tilt Actuator in Fast Steering Secondary Mirror for Large Telescope (대형 망원경용 FSM(Fast Steering Secondary Mirror)을 위한 팁틸트 액츄에이터의 성능평가)

  • For ground-based telescope application, the performance assessment of tip-tilt actuator is important because the optical quality of telescope depends upon the windshake compensation ability of the fast steering secondary mirror. But it is difficult to measure the performance characteristics of the actuators due to the large size mirror and test facilities including the vacuum support and structural frame. In this paper, the full-scale tip-tilt test bed for the large size secondary mirror with diameter of 1m is built and the several tests are performed including the range, resolution and frequency response function. From the measurement results, it is shown that the tip-tilt actuator can successfully compensate the windshake with frequency of maximum 12 Hz and be a candidate for the Giant Magellan Telescope.

Screening, Characterization, and Cloning of a Solvent-Tolerant Protease from Serratia marcescens MH6

  • solvent-tolerant bacterium strain, MH6, was isolated by hydrophilic organic solvent DMSO enrichment in the medium and identified as Serratia marcescens. The extracellular protease with novel organic-solvent-stable properties from strain MH6 was purified and characterized. The molecular mass of the purified protease was estimated to be 52 kDa on SDS-PAGE. The open reading frame (ORF) of the MH6 protease encoded 504 amino acids with 471 amino acid residues in the mature protease. Based on the inhibitory effects of EDTA and 1,10-phenathroline, the MH6 protease was characterized as a metalloproteinase. The enzyme activity was increased in the presence of $Ni^{2+}$, $Mg^{2+}$, and $Ca^{2+}$. The protease could also be activated by the nonionic surfactants Tween 80 (1.0%) and Triton X-100 (1.0%). The protease showed remarkable solvent stability in the presence of 50% (v/v) solutions of long-chain alkanes and long-chain alcohols. It was also fairly stable in the presence of 25% solutions of hydrophilic organic solvents. Owing to its high stability in solvents and surfactants, the MH6 protease is an ideal candidate for applications in organic catalysis and other related fields.
