  • It is necessary to apply a non-contact high-speed scanning system that can measure in real time in order to prevent the dropping and deformation of the main parts of railway vehicles during high-speed running. Recently, research on a scanning system that detects the deformation state of main parts from a video image taken using a high-performance camera has been actively pursued. In this study, we researched an analysis algorithm of a high-speed scanning system that uses a high-performance camera to monitor the deformation and drop-out state of the main components of the running units equipment in real time.

  • The distance between objects and a service robot can be measured by stereo vision system, but the two cameras need the same number of image grabber boards. In this paper, an approach to measure the distance is presented by using one camera which moves horizontally via motor position control. Images are captured at two different places where we know, and distance calculation is performed with the images and the camera position data. With a simple algorithm the proposed system requires only one image grabber board and no camera sequence controls are necessary, which resuces the system costs.

  • In this paper, we develop the system which inspects the metal mask using area scan camera and belu type xy-table and introduce its inspection algorithm. Thes whole area of the metal mask is divides into several inspection block and the sixe of a inspection block is decided by FOV(Field of View). To compare with the camera image of each block, the reference image is made by gerber file. The ratation angle of the metal mask is calculated through the linear equation that is substituted two end points of horizontal boundary of a specific hole in a camera image for. To calculate the position error caused by belt type xy-table, hough-transform using the distances among the holes in two images os used. The center of the reference image is moved as much as the calculated position error to be coincide with the camera image ...

  • It is possible to obtain an omnidirectional stereo image via a single camera by using a catadioptric approach with a convex mirror and concave lens. In order to measure three-dimensional distance using the imaging system, the optical parameters of the system are required. In this paper, a calibration procedure to extract the parameters of the imaging system is described. Based on the parameters, experiments are carried out to verify the performance of the three-dimensional distance measurement of a single camera omnidirectional stereo imaging system.

  • In this paper we present a new visual approach for the robust bin-picking in a two-step concept for a vision driven automatic handling robot. The technology described here is based on two types of sensors: 3D laser scanner and CCD video camera. The geometry and pose(position and orientation) information of bin contents was reconstructed from the camera and laser sensor. these information can be employed to guide the robotic arm. A new thinning algorithm and constrained hough transform method is also explained in this paper. Consequently, the developed bin-picking demonstrate the successful operation with 3D hole object.

  • Recently, the development of computer achieves a system which is similar to the mechanics of human visual system. The 3D measurement using monocular vision system must be achieved a camera calibration. So far, the camera calibration technique required reference target in a scene. But, these methods are inefficient because they have many calculation procedures and difficulties in analysis. Therefore, this paper proposes a native method that without reference target in a scene. We use the grid type frame with different line widths. This method uses vanishing point concept that possess a rotation parameter of the camera and perspective ration that perfect each line widths into a image. We confirmed accuracy of calibration parameter estimation through experiment on the algorithm with a grid paper with different line widths.

  • This paper presents a new camera calibration algorithm for ill-conditioned cases in which the camera plane is nearly parallel to a set of non-coplanar calibration boards. for the ill-conditioned case, most of existing calibration approaches such as Tsais radial-alignment-constraint method cannot be applied. Recently, for the ill-conditioned coplanar calibration Lee&Lee[16] proposed an iterative algorithm based on the least square method. The non-coplanar calibration algorithm presented in this paper is an iterative two-stage procedure with extends the previous coplanar calibration algorithm. Through the first stage, camera, position and orientation parameters as well as one radial distortion factor are determined optimally for a given data of the scale factor and the focal length. In the second stage, the scale factor and the focal length are locally optimized. This process is repeated until any improvement cannot be expected any more Computational results are provided to show the performance of the algorithm developed.

  • The camera system we researched has two stepping motors for the pan and tilt operation, and the human face tracking algorithm. Recently, this kind of the camera is used in PC communication, telecommunication vision meeting and tele-lecture. This paper discusses the smooth speed control method of this camera when the face is moved to up, down, left and right direction. We used a mean shift algorithm for the face-tracking, proposed the speed control algorithm using a fuzzy logic and certified this characteristics with the experiment.

  • A set of modal parameters of a stay-cable have been extracted fi:on a moving picture captured by a digital camera supported by shaking hands. It is hard to identify the center of targets attached on the cable surface from the blurred cable motion image, because of the high speed motion of cable, low sampling frequency of camera, and the shaking effect of camera. This study proposes a multi-template matching algorithm to resolve such difficulties. In addition, a sensitivity-based system identification algorithm is introduced to extract the natural frequencies and damping ratios from the ambient cable vibration data. Three sets of vibration tests are conducted to examine the validity of the proposed algorithms. The results show that the proposed technique is pretty feasible for extracting modal parameters from the severely shaking motion pictures.

  • Recently, there has been a growing interest in integrating physical toys into video gaming within the game content business. This paper introduces a novel method that leverages low-cost camera as an alternative to using sensor attachments to meet this rising demand. We address the limitations associated with low-cost cameras and propose an optical design tailored to the specific environment of model car recognition. We overcome the inherent limitations of low-cost cameras by proposing an optical design specifically tailored for model car recognition. This approach primarily focuses on recognizing the underside of the car and addresses the challenges associated with this particular perspective. Our method employs a transfer learning model that is specifically trained for this task. We have achieved a 100% recognition rate, highlighting the importance of collecting data under various camera exposures. This paper serves as a valuable case study for incorporating low-cost cameras into vision systems.
