Full-Color AMOLED with RGBW Pixel Pattern

  • A full-color AMOLED display with an RGBW color filter pattern has been fabricated. Displays with this format require about $^1/_2$ the power of analogous RGB displays. RGBW and RGB 2.16inch diagonal displays with average power consumptions of 180 mW and 340 mW, respectively, are demonstrated for a set of standard digital still camera images at a luminance of 100 cd/$m^2$. In both cases, a white-emitting AMOLED is used as the light source. The higher efficiency of the RGBW format results because a large fraction of a typical image can be represented as white, and the white sub-pixel in an RGBW AMOLED display is highly efficient because of the absence of any color filter. RGBW and RGB AMOLED displays have the same color gamut and, aside from the power consumption difference, are indistinguishable.

  • This paper is studied about the method to measure the fine scratches on the mirror surfaces, such as the silicon wafer and magnetic memory disk by the optical measuring method. The theoretical background of this analysis is based upon the light scattering theory developed by Beckmann. In this analysis, the roughness in fine scratches is not considered because the aberage roughness is very small compared with the size of fine scratches. Empasis is on quantilaive method of fine scratches by non-contact method. Experiments are followed by the image processing system attached to the CCD Camera. As a results, I propose the new method to measure the size of the fine scratches from the parameters obtained by the computer simulation and experiments.

  • Film printing companies have many problems during a printing process. Most of all, even an insect or dirt stick to the transparent film may cause severe errors until the end of printing job, which means big economic damage to the company. To prevent some insect-dots or dirt-dots, we have to Inspect the total area of film. However, it is very difficult to inspect the film in real-time due to the high-speed of printing that usually more than 150 m/min. A hardware based approach, for example DSP-based approach can be the one of solution candidates, but the total cost and the complexity increases the very high-level. In this paper, we suggest a software based approach, using MMX technology, to inspect the film in real-time. By Many real-plant experiments, we can see the suggest approach is applicable for the inspection of food packaging film in real-time.

  • In this research, 3D position exploring system was developed to detect direction and position of radiation source by using two general CCD camera. This system consists of a radiation detection device, a controlling device, and a monitoring device. A radiation detection device is composed of a collimator, a scintillator, CCD sensor, and radiation shielding part. Incident radiation is firstly collimated with direction and converted into visual lights in a scintillator. The CCD sensor detect the converted visual light and send a signal as an image. This can explore a radiation source with direction and distance from geometrical structure of two sensors. From these information, the developed 3D position exploring system can provide 3D radiation source information. This research will be useful for managing and processing radioactive materials in remote.

  • In this paper we propose an arc welding robot system, where two robots works coordinately and employ the vision sensor. In this system one robot arm holds a welding target as a positioning device, and the other robot moves the welding torch. The vision sensor consists of two laser slit-ray projectors and one CCD TV camera, and is mounted on the top of one robot. The vision sensor detects the 3-dimensional shape of the groove on the target work which needs to be weld. And two robots are moved coordinately to trace the grooves with accuracy. In order to realize fast image processing, totally five sets of high-speed parallel processing units (Transputer) are employed. The teaching tasks of the coordinated motions are simplified considerably due to this vision sensor. Experimental results reveal the applicability of our system.

  • An efficient context-free multiple-object segmentation using attention operator based on modified generalized symmetry transform is proposed and implemented by modifying a radial basis function network. By using the difference of intensity gradient, instead of te intensity gradient itself, in generalized symmetry tranform so as to make the attention operator to preserve the edges of the objects shape, an efficient context-free multiple-object segementation is proposed in which no a priori shape informtion on the objects is requried. The attention operator is implemented by using a modified radial basis function network which can reflect symmetry, and by using te edge pyramid of the input image, both of the local and the global symmetry of the objects are reflected simultaneously to make the multiple-object with different sizes be segmented with a singel fixed-size $n\timesm$ can be done with O(n) complexity. The simulaton results show that the proposed algorithm can efficiently be used in context-free multiple-object segmentation even for the low contrast IR images as well as for the images from the camera.

  • Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry(ESPI) is one of optical technique to measure displacement precisely, uses CCD camera to show result image in real time. General ESPI system measures in-plane or out-of-plane displacement. Shearography is one of electronic speckle pattern interferometric methods which allow full-field observation of surface displacement derivatives and it is robust in vibration. The shearography provides non-contacting technique of evaluating defects nondestructively. In this study, the shearography was used to evaluate defects in Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic(CFRP). Various sizes of artificial defects were embedded in various depths of woven CFRP plate. Effects due to the variation of size and depth of defects were evaluated in this study.

2D Image-Based Individual 3D Face Model Generation and Animation (2차원 영상 기반 3차원 개인 얼굴 모델 생성 및 애니메이션)

  • 본 논문에서는 사람의 정면 얼굴을 찍은 컬러 동영상에서 얼굴의 각 구성 요소에 대한 특징점들을 추출하여 3차원 개인 얼굴 모델을 생성하고 이를 얼굴의 표정 움직임에 따라 애니메이션 하는 방법을 제시한다. 제안된 방법은 얼굴의 정면만을 촬영하도록 고안된 헬멧형 카메라( Head-mounted camera)를 사용하여 얻은 2차원 동영상의 첫 프레임(frame)으로부터 얼굴의 특징점들을 추출하고 이들과 3차원 일반 얼굴 모델을 바탕으로 3차원 얼굴 특징점들의 좌표를 산출한다. 표정의 변화는 초기 영상의 특징점 위치와 이 후 영상들에서의 특징점 위치의 차이를 기반으로 알아낼 수 있다. 추출된 특징점 및 얼굴 움직임은 보다 다양한 응용 이 가능하도록 최근 1단계 표준이 마무리된 MPEG-4 SNHC의 FDP(Facial Definition Parameters)와FAP(Facial Animation Parameters)의 형식으로 표현되며 이를 이용하여 개인 얼굴 모델 및 애니메이션을 수행하였다. 제안된 방법은 단일 카메라로부터 촬영되는 영상을 기반으로 이루어지는 MPEG-4 기반 화상 통신이나 화상 회의 시스템 등에 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.

  • 디지털 영상 기기의 발전과 함께 여러 가지 실용적인 영상 처리 기법들이 연구 개발되고 있다. 화질의 선명도와 해상도가 향상되면서 더 많은 영상 정보를 한 화면에 담고자 하는 시도로서 파노라마 영상 합성이 주목을 받고 있다. 이는 영상 처리 분야에서 매우 중요한 문제로 다루어지고 있는 움직임 정보의 추출과 영상복원 및 화질 향상 등 여러 가지 기반 기술이 요구되는 복합적인 영상 처리 기법이다. 본 논문은 특히 파노라마 영상 합성의 대상으로 적합한 축구 경기 장면을 파노라마 영상으로 재구성하는 효과기의 구현을 목표로 하였다. 별도의 장비를 활용하거나 촬영 기술상의 제한 또는 요구 없이 주어진 영상 시퀀스로부터 영상을 분석하고 합성한다는 전제하에 이루어졌으며, 카메라 움직임의 모델링, 역변환식에 의한 합성 영상의 재구성, 후처리 문제 등 시스템 전반을 다루었다.
