  • In this paper, we have developed a system for identifying pills and providing their information by image processing to assist the health care of the elderly. A wide variety of pills can lead to the difficulty of distinguishing for the elderly at home and results in unusage and abandonment of the pills. To resolve this problem, we obtain images from a camera of a smart phone, extract features such as shape, line and color by image processing, classify pills, and provide information including the name, effect and directions for the usage of the pills.

  • Water tree degradations have been considered as one of the most important causes of failure in underground distribution cables with polymeric insulation. Water tree growth is a preliminary step in the sequence of electrical tree initiation and electrical breakdown of the insulation. In this paper, needle electrode is made use of the etching methods and the pellet type specimen is made to observe the water tree in succession. In previous methods are able to observe the tree degradations without cutting and dyeing. The water tree image is recorded on VTR with CCD camera. The tree length of X, Y axis direction and aging area(treeing area) are calculated with image measurement. As a result of this study, water tree is observed by non-destructive method. Electrical tree is initiated from needle electrode tip only but water tree is initiated from total area of water electrode. Electrical tree owing to water treeing is initiated at low electric field and grown with discontinuously. Namely, water tree is shown up a different characteristics of tree growth.

  • This paper suggests the robust method of extraction for moving objects in illumination variation by using image sequence from an immovable camera. The most difficult part of the implication is the effect by illumination and noise. The object area is hardly estimated when the dusky area occurs in illumination variation by time change. This thesis describes the extraction of moving objects employed by Gaussian mixture model which is noise robust measure. Also, the report suggests the elimination method of illumination part in input image by the representative illumination image which is defined to minimize the illumination influence.

  • This paper presents a global localization method using circular correlation of an omni-directional image. The localization of a mobile robot, especially in indoor conditions, is a key component in the development of useful service robots. Though stereo vision is widely used for localization, its performance is limited due to computational complexity and its narrow view angle. To compensate for these shortcomings, we utilize a single omni-directional camera which can capture instantaneous $360^{\circ}$ panoramic images around a robot. Nodes around a robot are extracted by the correlation coefficients of CHL (Circular Horizontal Line) between the landmark and the current captured image. After finding possible near nodes, the robot moves to the nearest node based on the correlation values and the positions of these nodes. To accelerate computation, correlation values are calculated based on Fast Fourier Transforms. Experimental results and performance in a real home environment have shown the feasibility of the method.

  • Recently, with the eye-opening progress in the related field of computer, the development of high resolution digital camera enables more precise positioning in digital photogrammetry, and a lot of interest has been concentrated on its application. In this study, the algorithm and system which enable the measurement of 3D point more easily was developed by image pointing method using digital image, when the digital map of the Cultural Properties of Architectures in Modern Ages is drawn by photogrammetry. As a result, we can reduce the limitation of surveying control point, exposure condition, and construct the digital map and 3D model of architecture more efficiently.

  • In this paper, we implement a picture surveillance system using IBM-compatible PC with web camera. The reflex RGB data captured from WebCam is stored to HDD through USB port at every 5 seconds intervals. Also, if strangers are detected through Motion Detection routine, warning voice message is broadcasted and invasion message is transmitted by e-mail and transmit the e-mail title to mobile phone through WAP(Wireless Application Protocol) push. The detected image is stored to hard-disk in ‘month-day-hour-minute-second. jpg’ data type. And the image data is transmitted to web server through FTP(File Transfer Protocol) because invader can deletes or destroys the image data on hard-disk We implement a surveillance system which is able to utilize through internet regardless of time and space.

  • In this paper, we introduce non-touch style interface system technology without any touch style controlling mechanism, which is called as "Air-interface". To develop this system, we used the full reflection principle of infrared (IR) light and then user's hand is separated from the background with the obtained image at every frame. The segmented hand region at every frame is used as input data for an hand-motion recognition module, and the hand-motion recognition module performs a suitable control event that has been mapped into the specified hand-motion through verifying the hand-motion. In this paper, we introduce some developed and suggested methods for image processing and hand-motion recognition. The developed air-touch technology will be very useful for advertizement panel, entertainment presentation system, kiosk system and so many applications.

  • Steel bearing balls are important component in machines having moving parts. In this paper we describe a vision-based automatic inspection system designed for sensing defects on the surface of steel bearing balls. The system has a camera looking down over a rail on which balls roll. Two mirrors are installed at both sides of the rail so that the side parts of a ball can be well inspected. The entire ball surface can be sufficiently seen by taking three images at $120^{\circ}$ rotation interval. Defects are detected by thresholding the difference image between an image captured and the reference image of a good ball.

  • The panorama is a good alternative to overcome narrow FOV under study in robot vision, stereo camera and panorama image registration and modeling. The panorama can materialize view with angles wider than human view and provide realistic space which make feeling of being on the scene based on realism. If we use all correspondence, it is too difficult to find strong features and correspondences and assume accurate homography matrix in geographic changes in images as load of calculation increases. Accordingly, we used SURF algorithm to estimate overlapping areas with high similarity by comparing and analyzing the input images' histograms and to detect features. And we solved the problem of input order so we can make panorama by input images without order.
