QoS-Aware Call Admission Control for Multimedia over CDMA Network (CDMA 무선망상의 멀티미디어 서비스를 위한 QoS 제공 호 제어 기법)

  • Diverse multimedia services will be deployed at hand on 3G-and-beyond multi-service CDMA systems in order to satisfy different quality of service (QoS) according to traffic types. In order to use appropriate resources efficiently the call admission control (CAC) as a major resource control mechanism needs to be used to take care of efficient utilization of limited resources. In this paper, we propose a QoS-aware CAC (QCAC) that is enabled to provide service fairness and service differentiation in accordance with priority order and that applies the different thresholds in received power considering different QoS requirements such as different bit error rates (BER) when adopting total received power as the ceil load estimation. The proposed QCAC calculates the different thresholds of the different traffic types based on different required BER applies it for admission policy, and can get service fairness and differentiation in terms of call dropping probability as a main performance metric. The QCAC is aware of the QoS requirement per traffic type and allows admission discrimination according to traffic types in order to minimize the probability of QoS violation. Also the CAC needs to consider the resource allocation schemes such as complete sharing (CS), complete partitioning (CP), and priority sharing(PS) in order to provide fairness and service differentiation among traffic types. Among them, PS is closely related with the proposed QCAC having differently calculated threshold per each traffic type according to traffic priority orders.

The Overload Control Scheme Using a Delay Queue in the SIP Signalling Networks (SIP 시그널링 네트워크에서 지연 큐를 이용한 과부하 제어 방법)

  • The SIP(Session Initation Protocol) is an application layer protocol that is used to establish, release, and change the call session of the IP telephony. In the SIP signalling networks, when the number of the UA(User Agent) requested the call session increase, the number of messages to be processed by SIP proxy server increase. It often will be caused the overload of the SIP proxy server. In this paper, we proposed the overload control method with a normal queue and a delay queue in the SIP proxy server. When it is estimated the overload of the server by the excess of the high threshold in the normal queue, new INVITE messages will be put into the delay queue to reduce the load of the server. It results in some delay of the call session from the INVITE message. Subsequently when the number of messages in the normal queue is reduced below the low threshold, the INVITE messages in the delay queue is processed. The simulation results showed that the number of the retransmission messages by our proposed method was 45% less than the one by the method with single queue. The results also showed that the average call success rate by the proposed method was 2% higher than the one by the method with single queue.

SE-CAC: A Novel Call Admission Control Scheme for Multi-service IDMA Systems

  • In this paper a simple and effective call admission control (CAC) scheme is proposed for the emerging interleave-division multiple-access (IDMA) systems, supporting a variety of traffic types and offering different quality of service (QoS) requirements and priority levels. The proposed scheme is signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) evolution based CAC (SE-CAC). The key idea behind the scheme is to take advantage of the SINR evolution technique in the process of making admission decisions, which is developed from the effective chip-by-chip (CBC) multi-user detection (MUD) process in IDMA systems. By virtue of this semi-analytical technique, the MUD efficiency can be estimated accurately. Additionally, the computational complexity can be considerably reduced. These features make the scheme highly suitable for IDMA systems, which can combat intra-cell interference efficiently with simple CBC MUD. Analysis and simulation results show that compared to the traditional CAC scheme considering MUD efficiency as a constant, the proposed SE-CAC scheme can guarantee high power efficiency and throughput for multimedia traffic even in heavy load conditions, illustrating the high efficiency of CBC MUD. Furthermore, based on the SINR evolution, the SE-CAC can make accurate estimation of available resource considering the effect of MUD, leading to low outage probability as well as low blocking and dropping probability.

  • Even many kinds of Internet-based services have been generated due to the great development of the Internet. PSTN still exists in the center of the national infrastructure network and the transit exchanges will be maintained the core roles in PSTN for many years in the future. These transit exchanges often suffer from unexpected overload situation because they have to process Intelligent Network calls and mobile calls additionally as well as POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service). In this paper, we suggest an efficient overload control algorithm for the distributed transit switching system under the various types of call services. We also show that this algorithm can be implemented easily cooperating with the network management control functions. The simulation technique is used to show that the proposed algorithm effectively controls calls and maintains safely the call processor's load under the various kinds of overload situations.

An Adaptive Control of Individual Channels' Transmission Power in Femtocells (펨토셀 환경에서 채널별 전송전력의 적응적 제어 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive power control scheme employing a self-optimization concept in femtocell systems, in order to improve system capacity, thereby reducing call-drop probability. In the proposed scheme, each femto base station(FBS) controls individual channel's transmission power base on two parameters; the neighboring cell's transmission power for each individual channel which is delivered from a femto-gateway and the received power strength from neighboring cells which is periodically measured by means of a spectrum sensing. Adaptive adjustment of individual channel's transmission power in accordance with femto mobile station(FMS) mobility features can also reduce undesirable handovers and evenly distribute traffic load over all femtocells. In addition, the manipulative control of channel's transmission power is able to keep the system coverage and the call-drop probability within an acceptable range, regardless of density of femtocells. Computer simulation shows that the proposed scheme outperforms existing schemes in terms of the system coverage and the call-drop probability.

  • We can foresee the rapidly growing of users by development of VoIP service what can transmit a audio traffic with low cost among a lots application using internet. VoIP needs a standardized protocol that is able to do signaling for offering high quality of services such as mobility, universal number, multiparty conference, voice mail, automatic call distribution. At the present time, a base composition elements of SIP(Session Intiation Protocol) are developing for offering VoIP based SIP in the inside and outside of the country, because SIP of IETF which has a strength from 'fast connection', 'parsing' & 'easy to compile' points of view. This paper suggests a type of Hybrid SIP Server for providing some services as 'a reducing load of SIP server that process a request method from users', 'efficiency of managing networks', 'offering services to many users'.

  • Nowdays the mobile traffic have been greatly increasing. This traffic increment has been caused the lack of frequency. To solve this problem, many study to improve the frequency efficiency in the field of mobile communication has been performed in a variety angle. However this kind of study was focused to 1:1 traffic. This paper propose the allocation scheme of the receiving channel in 1:N group traffic. This method apply to the TRS(Trunk Radio System) that use for the emergency disaster telecommunications. The result of the study show the performance improvement in the call loss ratio and load distribution in the group channel.

  • In this paper presents the method of the Optimal Mobile Router Designation (OMRD) using QM(Quality of service Manager) in the nested mobile network. QM is positioned on TLMR (Top Level Mobile Router) in the nested mobile network and manages the information of all MRs in the mobile network. When MN (Mobile Node) moves to a new MR, OMRD (Optimal Mobile Router Designation) selects the candidate MRs group and decides an optimal MR considering the mobile characteristics. OMRD reduces maximally the production of handover and removes the transmission delay of a new call and a handover call resulted from the wireless insufficient resource. Also, it prevents the concentration in a specific MR and maintains equally the load of the whole network.

  • Steam generator (SG) tubes in a nuclear power plant can undergo rapid changes in pressure and temperature during an accident; thus, an accurate model to predict short-term creep damage is essential. The theta (𝜃) projection method has been widely used for modeling creep-strain behavior under constant stress. However, many creep test data are obtained under constant load, so creep rupture behavior under a constant load cannot be accurately simulated due to the different stress conditions. This paper proposes a novel methodology to obtain the creep curve under constant stress using a modified 𝜃 projection method that considers the increase in true stress during creep deformation in a constant-load creep test. The methodology is validated using finite element analysis, and the limitations of the methodology are also discussed. The paper also proposes a creep-strain model for alloy 690 as an SG material and a novel creep hardening rule we call the damage-fraction hardening rule. The creep hardening rule is applied to evaluate the creep rupture behavior of SG tubes. The results of this study show its great potential to evaluate the rupture behavior of an SG tube governed by creep deformation.

A Wireless Traffic Load-Balancing Algorithm based on Adaptive Bandwidth Reservation Scheme in Mobile Cellular Networks (셀룰러 망에서 적응적 대역폭 예약 기법을 이용한 무선 트래픽 부하 균형 알고리즘)

  • For very large multimedia traffic to be supported successfully in wireless network environment, it is necessary to provide Quality-of-Service(QoS) guarantees between mobile hosts(clients). In order to guarantee the Qos, we have to keep the call blocking probability below target value during handoff session. However, the QoS negotiated between the client and the network may not be guaranteed due to lack of available channels for traffic in the new cell, since mobile clients should be able to continue their on-going sessions. In this paper we propose a efficient load-balancing algorithm based on the adaptive bandwidth reservation scheme for enlarging available channels in a cell. We design a new method to predict the mobility of clients using MPT(mobility profile table). This method is then used to reserve a part of bandwidths for handoff calls to its adjacent cells and this reserved bandwidth can be used for handoff call prior to new connection requests. If the number of free channels is also under a low threshold value, our scheme use a load-balancing algorithm with a adaptive bandwidth reservation. In order to evaluate the performance of our algorithm, we measure the metrics such as the blocking probability of new calls and dropping probability of handoff calls, and compare with other existing schemes.
