농촌지역 노인에서 동거유형에 따른 건강상태, 식행동 및 영양소 섭취 수준의 변화 양상 비교 (Comparison of Health Status, Dietary Behavior and Nutrient Intakes According to Family Types of the Elderly in Rural Areas)

  • This study was conducted to compare of health status, dietary behaviors and nutrient intakes according to family types of the elderly in rural areas. Family types were divided into three types-elderly living alone, elderly living with spouse, and elderly living with spouse and children. Subjects were 119 persons aged over 65 years (34 male, 85 females) living in rural areas and period of survey was from 29 January 2007 to 2 February. General environmental factors, health status, dietary behaviors and nutrient intakes were compared according to family types, the elderly living along showed a significantly lower in monthly income(p<0.01), self perceived health status(p<0.001), Instrumental Activity of Daily Living(IADL) score, and General Self Efficacy Scale(GSES) score compared to the elderly living with spouse and those living with spouse and children. However, Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale(CES-D) was higher than those of the elderly living family members (p<0.05). In addition, sum of dietary behavior score was the lowest in the elderly living alone (22.3 in elderly living alone, 24.1 in elderly living with spouse, 23.4 in elderly living with spouse and children, p<0.001) and nutrient intakes of potassium, zinc, vitamin C(p<0.01 respectively), calcium, phosphorus, iron, vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin B6 and folic acid(p<0.05 respectively) also reported to be significantly lower in the elderly living alone than in others of two types. From these results, health status, dietary behavior pattern and nutrient intakes of the elderly living alone were found to be inadequate overall, so measures to deal with these health and nutritional status were needed.

울산시 여고생의 건강상태, 식행동 및 영양섭취상태에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Health Condition, eating Behavior and Nutritional Status of Girl's High School Students in Ulsan)

  • This research was carried out to investigate the health condition, eating behavior and nutritional status of female high school students. The survey was conducted from July 5 to July 18, 1996 with 524 first grade students(15 to 17 years old) of H girl's high school using the questionnaire method. The levels of depression and anxiety were measured by CED-S and Spielburger's STAI-S, respectively. In addition, nutrient intakes were estimated by Convenience Method. The results of this study are as follows: 1. The mean depression and anxiety scores of the subjects were 22.23 and 26.00, respectively. The proportion of subjects with normal weight(BM) was 72.1%. The perceived health condition of subjects was moderate and 15.1% of subjects were anemic. The subjectiv health symptoms were feeling drowsy, tired eyesight, getting tired easily, catching cold frequently and frequent headache. 2. The irregularity of breakfast was high in the subjects. The problems of the eating behavior were irregular meals, unbalanced diets, excessive meals, skipping meals and food prejudice. Forty-nine percent of subjects had good eating behaviors. 3. The mean energy intake of subjects was 1717Kcal. The proportion of energy derived from carbohydrates, proteins and fats were 62.70%, 13.89% and 23.42%, respectively. The subjects consumed 59.59g of protein, 13.07mg iron, 637.49mg calcium, 553.64 R.E. vitamin A, 0.94mg vitamin B1, 1.08mg vitamin B2, 15.15mg niacin and 49.59mg vitamin C, respectively. Except niacin, other nutrient intakes were less than the Korean recommended dietary allowances(RDA), especially, iron. 4. Mother's occupation, subject's pocket money and perceived health condition were negatively correlated with eating behavior, And the depression and anxiety of subjects showed wrong eating behaviors. The effects of socioeconomic variables, depression, anxiety and perceived health condition on the nutrient intake were different depending on the kind of nutrient. The nutrient intakes differed significantly among the group of different eating behavior. The eating behavior was significantly correlated with the nutrient intake.

중등학교 가정교과 식생활교육을 위한 청소년의 우유 섭취, 영양 섭취 및 체력과의 관계 연구 (A Study on the Relationship between Milk Consumption, Dietary Nutrient Intake and Physical Strength of Adolescents in Middle and Small-Sized Cities in Korea for Dietary Education of Home Economics Subject at Middle and High Schools)

  • 본 연구는 청소년의 우유 섭취, 영양 섭취 및 체력 간의 관계를 알아보고자 실시되었다. 시도교육청과 학교의 협조를 받아 선정한 중소도시에 거주하는 298명의 청소년을 대상으로 평소 식사 및 체력장 기록을 조사하였다. 우유 유제품 섭취는 식사조사를 이용해 파악하였고, 우유 유제품으로 섭취한 1일 평균 칼슘 섭취량을 우유 200 mL 중의 칼슘 함량과 비교해 1일 평균 우유칼슘당량을 구하였다. 식사조사는 식사기록법에 의해 주중 2일과 주말 1일을 포함하는 3일간 실시하였고, 식사조사지의 식사 내용을 CAN-Pro 3.0에 입력해 영양소 섭취량을 구한 후 1일 평균 영양소 섭취량을 산출하였다. 체력장 기록은 학교에서 정규적으로 실시하는 자료에 따랐다. 조사 대상 청소년의 1일 평균 우유칼슘당량은 우유칼슘당량을 기준으로 분류한 저섭취군(${\leq}0.29$/일), 중섭취군(0.30-0.78/일), 고섭취군(0.79-5.66/일)에서 모두 권장 수준인 '2'보다 낮아 조사대상자의 우유 섭취가 전반적으로 부족하였다. 1일 평균 우유칼슘당량이 높을수록 50 m 달리기와 제자리멀리뛰기 기록이 유의적으로 높았다. 그리고 대부분의 에너지 영양소, 비타민, 무기질의 1일 평균 섭취량과 50 m 달리기, 제자리멀기뛰기, 오래달리기 기록이 높은 방향으로 유의적인 상관관계가 있었다(p<0.05). 따라서 청소년기에 우유 섭취와 함께 균형잡힌 영양 섭취를 하면 체력 향상에 도움이 되므로 중등학교 가정교과의 식생활교육에서 청소년기에 1일 2컵의 우유 섭취를 실천하도록 지도해야 하며 아울러 중등학교의 학교우유급식 활성화를 위한 제도적 뒷받침도 이루어질 필요가 있다고 하겠다.

Prevalence of Drug Abuse and Smoking and Dietary Behavior of Male Students at Technical High School

  • To investigate the relationship between eating behavior and the prevalence of adolescents drug abuse and smoking, this survey was conducted among 349 male students(mean age ; 16.0 $\pm$0.9yrs) at technical high schools in Kyunggi-Do. It was shown that 58.7% of total subjects were smoking and 11.2% were abusing drugs. Drug abusers weighed Less than non-abusers especially, student smokers were 2.7kg lighter than non-smokers despite the same height. Although parents' education showed no relationship with drug abuse, educational level of student smokers' fathers was significantly lower than that of non-smokers' fathers. Drug abusers and smokers showed significantly higher incidence of runaway from home, absence from school without notice, and parents' divorce than non-abusers and non-smokers. Drugs abused were sleeping pills(n=20), bonds and butane gas(n=9), marijuana(n=3), tranquilizer(n=3), morphine and cocaine(n=2), and pep pills like amphetamine(n=2) 76.9% of the drug abusers had their first experience in junior high school and 81% of the smokers stared smoking as early as in junior high school. Also, 44% of the smokers reported that they smoke daily. The drug abusers tended to have more irregular eating habits than the non-abusers. The smokers showed irregular mealtime, ate either too fast or too slow, and especially, often skipped lunch or dinner. The drug abusers and smokers took little vegetable in their meals and often ate bread or noodles instead of rice for staples. In addition, they preferred taste to nutrition when they had meals. The smokers tended to ingest smaller amount of calcium source such as milk or dinner food and fish with bone although they consume more volume of total foods than the non-smokers. All subjects took less in calorie, calcium, iron, vitamin A, vitamin E, riboflavin, and folic acid than the Recommended Dietary Allowance Those findings suggest that drug abuse and smoking cause bad eating habits that influence unbalanced nutritional state. Therefore, nutrition education should be provided to the adolescents so that they can recognize the disadvantages of drug and smoking and its relation to dietary relation. Identification of Genes Modulated by High Extracellular Calcium in Coculture of Mouse Osteoblasts and Bone Marrow Cells by Oligo Chip Assay

  • Calcium concentration in the bone resorption lacunae is high and is in the mM concentration range. Both osteoblast and osteoclast have calcium sensing receptor in the cell surface, suggesting the regulatory role of high extracellular calcium in bone metabolism. In vitro, high extracellular calcium stimulated osteoclastogenesis in coculture of mouse osteoblasts and bone marrow cells. Therefore we examined the genes that were commonly regulated by both high extracellular calcium and $1,25(OH)_2vitaminD_3(VD3)$ by using mouse oligo 11 K gene chip. In the presence of 10 mM $[Ca^{2+}]e$ or 10 nM VD3, mouse calvarial osteoblasts and bone marrow cells were co-cultured for 4 days when tartrate resistant acid phosphatase-positive multinucleated cells start to appear. Of 11,000 genes examined, the genes commonly regulated both by high extracellular calcium and by VD3 were as follows; 1) the expression of genes which were osteoclast differentiation markers or were associated with osteoclastogenesis were up-regulated both by high extracellular calcium and by VD3; trap, mmp9, car2, ctsk, ckb, atp6b2, tm7sf4, rab7, 2) several chemokine and chemokine receptor genes such as sdf1, scya2, scyb5, scya6, scya8, scya9, and ccr1 were up-regulated both by high extracellular calcium and by VD3, 3) the genes such as mmp1b, mmp3 and c3 which possibly stimulate bone resorption by osteoclast, were commonly up-regulated, 4) the gene such as c1q and msr2 which were related with macrophage function, were commonly down-regulated, 5) the genes which possibly stimulate osteoblast differentiation and/or mineralization of extracellular matrix, were commonly down-regulated; slc8a1, admr, plod2, lox, fosb, 6) the genes which possibly suppress osteoblast differentiation and/or mineralization of extracellular matrix, were commonly up-regulated; s100a4, npr3, mme, 7) the genes such as calponin 1 and tgfbi which possibly suppress osteoblast differentiation and/or mineralization of extracellular matrix, were up-regulated by high extracellular calcium but were down-regulated by VD3. These results suggest that in coculture condition, both high extracellular calcium and VD3 commonly induce osteoclastogenesis but suppress osteoblast differentiation/mineralization by regulating the expression of related genes.

Apolipoprotein E 다형성에 따른 사업장 근로자의 혈중 지질농도, 영양소 섭취 및 건강관련 생활습관 (Blood Lipid Levels, Nutrient Intakes and Health-Related Lifestyles of Industrial Male Workers According to Apolipoprotein E Polymorphisms)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the association among nutrient intakes and health-related lifestyles with cardiovascular disease risk assessed by blood lipid profile according to Apolipoprotein E genotypes. Middle-aged industrial male workers who had completed their annual medical examination were recruited and data of 675 subjects who finished the nutrient survey were used in the analysis. Anthropometric parameters, dietary assessment (FFQ), health-related lifestyles and blood profiles were used for statistical analyses. Apo E genotype groups were classified into the following three genotypes: Apo E2 group (including E2/E2, E2/E3, E2/E4), Apo E3 group (including E3/E3), Apo E4 group (including E3/E4, E4/E4). The frequency of Apo E2, E3, and E4 allele were 13.3%, 75.0% and 11.7% respectively. There were no significant differences in the anthropometric parameters depending on different Apo E genotypes. Also, no significant differences in the nutrient intakes were found according to the genotype groups. The nutrient intakes of all subjects were similar to or higher than the level of KDRIs (Dietary Reference Intakes For Koreans) except for intakes of calcium (67.44% of KDRIs), vitamin A (73.83% of KDRIs) and vitamin $B_2$ (78.02% of KDRIs). Also, there were no significant differences of health-related lifestyles according to Apo E genotype groups. As for the lipid profiles, Apo E4 group had significantly higher total and LDL-cholesterol concentrations than the Apo E2 group (p < 0.05). We confirmed that plasma total and LDL-cholesterol concentrations were greatly influenced by Apo E genotypes. However, nutrient intakes and health-related lifestyles were not associated with Apo E genotypes.

Identification of Pharmaceuticals for process control using Near Infrared Spectroscopy and Soft Independence modeling of Class Analogy (SIMCA)

  • The identification step of raw drug materials is an indispensible procedure in the GMP manufacturing process within the pharmaceutical industry. However, wet chemistry methods for identification of drug materials, used by the various Pharmacopeia are time-consuming and expensive steps. In this paper, near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) has been developed for identifying eleven drug substances including calcium pantothenate, cefaclor, cefoperazone, cephradine, dextromethorphan, ehtambutol, nicotinamide, pyrozinamide, tramadol, vitamin C, and vitamin E. Also the aim of ths work is to consturct a new algorithm for calibration model using soft independence modeling of class analogy (SIMCA) with Malinowskis Indicator Function (IND), which is used for finding the number of principal components of each class of the SIMACA model. The use of NIR technique with pattern recognition to qualify raw materials can make it possible to monitor process in real time as well as to control all procedures in the pharmaceutical industry. As the result, the samples identified of 183 different batches from 11 different compounds were separated clearly by SIMCA with 2nd derivative spectra in the NIR region of 1100∼2400 nm.

Bitter Taste Receptor TAS2R38 Genetic Variation (rs10246939), Dietary Nutrient Intake, and Bio-Clinical Parameters in Koreans

  • Differential bitterness perception associated with genetic polymorphism in the bitter taste receptor gene taste 2 receptor member 38 (TAS2R38) may influence an individual's food preferences, nutrition consumption, and eventually chronic nutrition-related disorders including cardiovascular disease. Therefore, the effect of genetic variations on nutritional intake and clinical markers needs to be elaborated for health and disease prevention. In this study, we conducted sex-stratified analysis to examine the association between genetic variant TAS2R38 rs10246939 A > G with daily nutritional intake, blood pressure, and lipid parameters in Korean adults (males = 1,311 and females = 2,191). We used the data from the Multi Rural Communities Cohort, Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study. Findings suggested that the genetic variant TAS2R38 rs10246939 was associated with dietary intake of micronutrients including calcium (adjusted p = 0.007), phosphorous (adjusted p = 0.016), potassium (adjusted p = 0.022), vitamin C (adjusted p = 0.009), and vitamin E (adjusted p = 0.005) in females. However, this genetic variant did not influence blood glucose, lipid profile parameters, and other blood pressure markers. These may suggest that this genetic variation is associated with nutritional intake, but its clinical effect was not found. More studies are needed to explore whether TAS2R38 genotype may be a potential predictive marker for the risk of metabolic diseases via modulation of dietary intake.

재한 중국 유학 여대생들의 식습관 변화에 따른 영양 섭취 실태 (Dietary behavior and nutritional status among Chinese female college students residing in Korea)

  • 본 연구는 현재 한국의 대학에 재학 중인 중국인 여대생 114명을 대상으로 중국인 유학생들의 영양소 섭취상태를 조사하고, 중국과 한국에서의 식습관 변화 및 식습관 변화에 따른 영양소 섭취상태를 평가하고자 수행되었으며, 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) 중국인 유학생의 평균 에너지 섭취량은 $1,586.9{\pm}474.2$ kcal였고, 탄수화물, 단백질, 지방의 구성비는 56 : 14 : 30으로 나타났으며, 전체 대상자의 23.7%가 단백질의 평균필요량에 미치지 못하고 있었고 43%가 권장섭취량에 미만으로 섭취하고 있었다. 엽산의 평균필요량 미만으로 섭취하는 비율은 대상자의 93%였고, 대상자의 60~70%가 칼슘, 아연, 비타민 A, 비타민 $B_2$, 비타민 C을 평균필요량 미만으로 섭취하는 것으로 나타났다. 2) 중국 유학생의 총 식습관 점수는 $64.3{\pm}9.9$점으로 유학전 $75.9{\pm}9.9$점에 비해 유의적으로 낮아졌으며 (p < 0.001), 특히 식사의 규칙성과 균형성, 아침식사 여부 및 단백질 식품, 녹황색 채소와 과일 등의 섭취빈도가 좋지 않은 방향으로 변화되었고, 가공식품의 섭취와 외식의 빈도는 더 많아진 것으로 조사되었다. 3) 한국 유학 전 후의 식습관 혹은 식행동 변화 여부에 따른 영양소 섭취 수준을 비교한 결과, 한국에 온 이후 아침 결식률이 높아진 사람들은 단백질, 지방, 칼슘, 비타민 $B_2$ 및 니아신의 섭취량이 낮았고, 또 중국에서 보다 녹황색 채소를 더 적게 먹게 된 경우는 식이섬유소와 비타민 C를, 우유 및 유제품의 경우는 단백질과 칼슘비타민 $B_2$와 비타민 $B_6$를 비롯하여 비타민 E와 엽산을 적게 섭취하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과, 성인기 식생활과 건강을 결정하는 20대 초반 재한 중국인 여대생들의 경우 바람직하지 않은 식습관과 이로 인한 영양 섭취 상태의 불균형을 나타내는 것으로 조사되었다. 이상의 결과는 고국을 떠나 낯선 문화에 적응하여야 하는 중국인 유학생들에 대한 영양교육 프로그램의 개발과 식생활 관리가 필요하다고 하겠다. 또 올바른 식생활의 정립은 심리적, 정서적 건강상태에도 영향을 미칠 수 있으며, 대학생활의 적응과 성공적인 유학생활에도 도움이 될 것으로 생각된다.

한국 청소년의 다양한 급원을 통한 비타민과 무기질 최대섭취량 평가 (Dietary maximum exposure assessment of vitamins and minerals from various sources in Korean adolescents)

  • 본 연구는 전국의 1,407명의 청소년 중 일반의약품과 또는 건강기능식품 비타민 무기질 보충제를 섭취한다고 응답한 청소년 921명 중 조사지 기입과 상시 면담이 가능한 남녀 각각 30명씩 총 60명 (15~18세)을 선정해, 조사지 작성 및 직접면담을 통해 일반의약품 및 건강기능식품 비타민 무기질 보충제, 3일간의 식사, 간식 섭취 실태를 조사함으로써 비타민과 무기질 최대섭취량을 파악하고 위해도를 평가하였다. 일상식사, 일반의약품과 건강기능식품 비타민 무기질 보충제 및 강화식품 섭취를 통한 비타민과 무기질 섭취량을 산출해 평균, 97.5 백분위수 (최대섭취량) 등을 구하고 권장섭취량 및 상한섭취량과 비교하였다. 일상식사를 통한 비타민과 무기질 섭취량은 권장섭취량의 0.3~4.4배이었다. 각각의 급원에서 상한섭취량 이상을 섭취한 대상자가 있는 영양소는 식사로는 비타민 A (1.7%)와 니아신 (5.0%), 일반의약품 비타민 무기질 보충제로는 비타민 C (9.1%)와 철 (5.6%), 건강기능식품 비타민 무기질 보충제로는 니아신 (8.6%), 비타민 $B_6$ (7.5%), 엽산 (2.9%), 비타민 C (2.3%)이었다. 식사, 일반의약품과 또는 건강기능식품 비타민 무기질 보충제, 강화식품을 통한 총섭취량이 상한섭취량 이상인 대상자가 가장 많은 영양소는 니코틴산 (33.3%)이었으며, 그 다음 비타민 C (26.6%) > 비타민 A (13.3%), 철 (13.3%) > 아연 (11.7%) > 칼슘 (5.0%) > 비타민 E (1.7%), 비타민 $B_6$ (1.7%)이었다. 이런 연구 결과로 볼 때, 한국 청소년 중 일상식사를 통해 충분한 비타민과 무기질을 섭취하는 경우 비타민 무기질 보충제와 강화식품을 섭취하면 비타민과 무기질 과잉섭취로 인한 부작용이 나타날 가능성이 클 것으로 여겨진다. 앞으로 더 큰 표본을 대상으로 정확한 섭취량 평가가 이루어져 비타민과 무기질의 상한섭취량 설정 및 바른 비타민 무기질 보충제와 강화식품 섭취에 대한 근거를 마련해야 할 것이다.
