근접승화법을 이용한 CdTe박막의 성장에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Growth of CdTe Films by Close-Spaced Sublimation)

  • 고효율 박막형 태양전지 제조를 위해 근접승화법에 의한 CdTe박막의 성장을 연구하였다. 내부압력의 변화, 기판과 소스 사이의 거리, 기판과 소스의 온도 등의 변수가 성장속도와 미세구조에 미치는 영향을 관찰했다. 내부압력의 변화에 따라 성장과정이 diffusion limited transport와 sublimation limited transport로 나뉘어지며, 이 두가지 성장방식의 분기점은 기체분자의 평균자유행정거리에 의해 결정되었다. 소스의 형태에 따라서 박막의 성장속도와 미세구조는 큰 차이를 보였으며, 실험을 통해 이러한 차이가 증발표면의 온도강하에 의한 현상임을 규명하였다. 기판과 소스사이의 간격에 따른 성장속도를 해석하기 위해 일방향열해석을 통해 기판과 소스표면의 온도를 계산하였다. X선 회절분석과 표면형상의 관찰을 통해 성장속도가 박막의 미세구조에 영향을 줌을 알았다. 기판의 온도가 증가하면서 박막성장시 (111)로의 우선성장방위가 관찰되었지만 고온이 되면서 다시 random orientation의 경향을 나타냈다.

Determination of Heavy metals on the non-woven in wet wipes using ICP-MS

  • Heavy metals have been analyzed on the non-woven from the 24 kinds of wet wipes and 8 kinds of mask packs. The following materials used in the non-woven according to each product are: rayon+polyester for the 12 wet wipe products, rayon+PET for the 5 wet wipe products, and rayon, cotton, rayon+polyester+cotton, pulp+polypropylene for the rest of the wet wipe products. No further information on the materials was found on the 3 wet wipes and 8 mask packs. However, polyester may be applied for the non-woven in wet wipes, because PET is part of the polyester group. The heavy metals analysis in the 24 kinds of wet wipes and 8 kinds of mask packs revealed the following: arsenic was found from $47.14{\pm}1.13$ to $71.75{\pm}1.64{\mu}g/L$ on the 3 products, the amount of nickel in the 2 products were $261.26{\pm}5.14$ and $1,242.63{\pm}43.71{\mu}g/L$, $53.69{\pm}1.45$ and $103.52{\pm}2.02mg/L$ on the 2 mask packs. It was also revealed that lead was detected from $7.23{\pm}0.32$ to $55.67{\pm}1.46{\mu}g/L$ on the 6 wet wipes, antimony was ranged from $187.86{\pm}5.24$ to $19,558.35{\pm}3,537.30{\mu}g/L$ on the 12 wet wipes, and $5.25{\pm}0.25$ and $8,936{\pm}55.22{\mu}g/L$ on the 2 mask packs. No cadmium, mercury, or thallium were detected from all the products. A high concentration of antimony might come from antimony trioxide, which was used as a catalyst when manufacturing the polyester. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that a non-woven used for cosmetic purposes should not use heavy metals as a catalyst when manufacturing, and it's important to clarify which materials are used in non-woven.

Cross Talk Experiment with Two-element CdTe Detector and Collimator for BNCT-SPECT

  • Background: Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) is a new radiation therapy. In BNCT, there exists some very critical problems that should be solved. One of the severest problems is that the treatment effect cannot be known during BNCT in real time. We are now developing a SPECT (single photon emission computed tomography) system (BNCT-SPECT), with a cadmium telluride (CdTe) semiconductor detector. BNCT-SPECT can obtain the BNCT treatment effect by measuring 478 keV gamma-rays emitted from the excited state of $^7Li$ nucleus created by $^{10}B(n,{\alpha})$ $^7Li$ reaction. In the previous studies, we investigated the feasibility of the BNCT-SPECT system. As a result, the S/N ratio did not meet the criterion of S/N > 1 because deterioration of the S/N ratio occurred caused by the influence of Compton scattering especially due to capture gamma-rays of hydrogen. Materials and Methods: We thus produced an arrayed detector with two CdTe crystals to test cross talk phenomenon and to examine an anti-coincidence detection possibility. For more precise analysis for the anti-coincidence detection, we designed and made a collimator having a similar performance to the real BNCT-SPECT. Results and Discussion: We carried out experiments with the collimator to examine the effect of cross talk of scattering gamma-rays between CdTe elements more practically. As a result of measurement the coincidence events were successfully extracted. Conclusion: We are now planning to carry out evaluation of coincidence rate from the measurement and comparison of it with the numerical calculations.

유도결합 플라즈마 발광분광기의 매트릭스 보정법에 의한 구리 중납, 카드뮴 및 크롬 분석에 관한 연구 (The Study on Analytical Method of Lead, Cadmium and Chromium in Copper Metal by Matrix Matching Method of Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometer)

  • 일정 농도의 Pb, Cd 및 Cr이 첨가된 합성 Cu표준시료용액 (RMs)을 ICP로 여러 파장에서 Cu매트릭스 미 보정 검정곡선에 준하여 분석한 결과 모든 원소가 전 파장에서 Cu매트릭스의 영향을 받아 정확도 (Pb 140$\sim$1 090%)가 떨어졌다. Pb, Cd 및 Cr의 각각 일정 농도에 Cu의 농도를 변화시켜 분석한 결과 Cu 0.05 wt/v % (0.05 g/100 mL) 이상을 함유하면 실제 Pb, Cd 및 Cr이 첨가된 농도보다 Cu의 농도가 증가함에 따라 일정함수의 비로 감소하거나 증가하여 Cu매트릭스의 영향이 심함을 볼 수 있었다. Cu매트릭스 보정법에 의한 합성 Cu표준시료용액 (RMs)을 분석한 결과 99.9% 이상의 정확도를 보여주었다.

  • 진주지방에서 $1980{\sim}1981\;ppm$년도에 생산된 각종 원예작물중에 함유되어 있는 중금속 함량을 측정한 결과 유해한 금속으로 알려져 있는 남은 $trace{\sim}2.679\;ppm$, 니켈은 $ND{\sim}0.368\;ppm$, 카드륨은 $ND{\sim}0.264\;ppm$, 비소는 $trace{\sim}1.289\;ppm$ 범위였으며, 크롬은 전 시료 중 단 4점만이 미량 검출되었다. 그리고 구리는 $0.200{\sim}3.759\;ppm$ 범위였으며, 아연은 $0.327{\sim}21.663\;ppm$, 망간은 $0.828{\sim}22.413\;ppm$, 철은 $0.201{\sim}32.425\; ppm$으로 아연, 망간 및 철은 시료간에 상당한 유의성이 인정되었고 비닐하우스에서 재배한 과채류와 노지에서 재배한 시료간에는 유의성이 인정되지 않았다.

일부 河川流域의 淡水魚와 沈積土의 중금속 함량에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Heavy Metal Contents in Fish and Sediments of the Mankyung River)

  • Pollution in the rivers has received considerable attention in recent years, particullary with reference to the effect due to increasing concentration of heavy metals. The metals are toxic to the ecosystem as a whole and to man in particular, since he is at the end of a variety of food chains by virture of his varigated diet. In addition, numerous laboratory tests have established that certain metals, such as Cd, pose a threat to a wide variety of aquatic organisms at concentrations as low as a few $\mu$g/1. Before the biological effects of heavy metals in impacted ecosystems can be completely assessed, however it is necessary to provide data on the concentration of heavy metals in such systems. This study was performed to investigate the concentration level of heavy metals in water, fish and sediments from upstream ($S_1-S_4$) to downstream ($S_5-S_9$) of the Mankyung river. Samples of water, fish, and sediments were collected along the tributaries of the Mankyung from September to October in 1987 and analyzed for lead, cadmium, copper, and zinc by atomic absorption spectrophotometer. From the data presented in this study, we can infer that the concentrations of the heavy metals investigated both in water and sediments are similar to those found in literature for unpolluted regions. The results obtained from the analysis of the edible tissue of the C. auratus show low concentration levels of the four heavy metals investigated. We conclude that the area is still relatively unpolluted and recommended continuing the monitoring of heavy metal concentrations to improve our understanding of their cycle in the river environment.

Synthesis of CdS with Graphene by CBD(Chemical Bath Deposition) Method and Its Photocatalytic Activity

  • Synthesis of RGO (reduced graphene oxide)-CdS composite material was performed through CBD (chemical bath deposition) method in which graphene oxide served as the support and Cadmium Sulfate Hydrate as the starting material. Graphene-based semiconductor photocatalysts have attracted extensive attention due to their usefulness for environmental and energy applications. The band gap (2.4 eV) of CdS corresponds well with the spectrum of sunlight because the crystalline phase, size, morphology, specic surface area and defects, etc., of CdS can affect its photocatalytic activity. The specific surface structure (morphology) of the photocatalyst can be effective for the suppression of recombination between photogenerated electrons and holes. Graphene (GN) has unique properties such as a high value of Young's modulus, large theoretical specific surface area, excellent thermal conductivity, high mobility of charge carriers, and good optical transmittance. These excellent properties make GN an ideal building block in nanocomposites. It can act as an excellent electron-acceptor/transport material. Therefore, the morphology, structural characterization and crystal structure were observed using various analytical tools, such as X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and Raman spectroscopy. From this analysis, it is shown that CdS particles were well dispersed uniformly in the RGO sheet. Furthermore, the photocatalytic property of the resulting RGO-CdS composite is also discussed in relation to environmental applications such as the photocatalytic degradation of pollutants. It was found that the prepared RGO-CdS nanocomposites exhibited enhanced photocatalytic activity as compared with that of CdS nanoparticles. Therefore, better efficiency of photodegradation was found for water purification applications using RGO-CdS composite.

몬테카를로 시뮬레이션 기반 밀도에 따른 다양한 검출기 물질을 적용한 획득 영상 평가 (Evaluation of Image Quality by Using Various Detector Materials according to Density : Monte Carlo Simulation Study)

  • The detector performance is important role in acquiring the gamma rays from patients. Among parameters of detector performances, there is density, which relates to respond to gamma rays. Therefore, we confirm the detection efficiency according to various detector materials based on the density parameter using GATE (geant4 application for emission tomography) simulation tool. The NaI (density: 3.67 g/cm3), CZT (Cadimium Zinc Telluride) (density: 5.80 g/cm3), CdTe (Cadmium Telluride) (5.85 g/cm3), and GAGG (Gadoinium Aluminum Gallium Garnet) (density g/cm3) were used as detector materials. In addition, the point source and quadrant bar phantom, which is modeled for 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 mm thicknesses, were modeled to confirm the quatitative analysis using sensitivity (cps/MBq) and the full width at half maximum (FWHM, mm) at the 2.0 mm bar thickness containing visual evaluation. Based on the results, the sensitivity for NaI, CZT, CdTe, and GAGG detector materials were 0.12, 0.15, 0.16, and 0.18 cps/MBq. In addition, the FWHM for quadrant bar phantom in the 2.0 mm bar thickness is 3.72, 3.69, 3.70, and 3.73 mm for NaI, CZT, CdTe, and GAGG materials, respectively. Compared with performance of detector materials according to density, the high density can improve detection efficiency in terms of sensitivity and mean count. Among these detector materials, the GAGG material is efficient for detection of gamma rays.

낙동강 상류 서식 어류의 부위별 중금속 분포 특성 (Studies on Heavy Metal Characteristics by Part of Fish in Upper Region of Nakdong River)

  • 낙동강 상류지역의 안동댐, 임하댐, 영주댐 유역에 서식하는 물고기에 대하여 근육부, 아가미, 위, 간 부위로 분리하여 중금속 분석을 수행하였다. 분석한 물고기는 갈겨니(dark chub), 강준치(skygager), 꺽지(coreoperca herzi), 끄리(Korean piscivorous chub), 누치(cornet fish), 떡붕어(Japan crucian carp), 메기(catfish), 배스(bass), 붕어(crucian carp), 쏘가리(mandarin fish), 잉어(carp), 참마자(long-nosed barbel), 치리(Korean sharpbelly) 등 13개 어종으로 ICP/MS를 이용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과 전체 평균 농도를 기준으로 근육부는 수은을 제외한 모든 중금속 항목에서 다른 부위에 비해 낮았다. 아가미 부위는 크롬, 망간, 니켈, 납, 위 부위는 아연, 간 부위는 철, 구리, 비소, 카드뮴이 다른 금속에 비해 높은 농도값을 나타내었다.

다소비 해조류 섭취에 의한 유해중금속의 식이노출평가 (Assessment of Dietary Exposure to Toxic Heavy Metals from Edible Seaweeds in Korea)

  • In the present study, exposure to heavy metals by consumption of edible seaweeds (green laver, laver, hijiki, sea tangle, and sea mustard) was assessed based on their concentrations of lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), arsenic (As), and mercury (Hg). The mean of heavy metal concentrations were 0.006-0.023 mg/kg for Pb, 0.037-0.156 mg/kg for Cd, 1.117-15.928 mg/kg for As, and 0.008-0.021 mg/kg for Hg. In multivariate analysis, the correlations were high between Pb levels in sea mustard, Cb levels in laver, and As and Hg level in Hijiki. However, the estimated daily intake and target hazard quotient (THQ) of the heavy metals in edible seaweeds were below their approved limits suggesting no health risks associated with seaweed consumption by Koreans.
