In this paper, a new approach for cable layout design of pre-stressed concrete slabs is presented. To account the cable profile accurately, it is modelled by B-spline. Using the convex hull property of the B-spline, an efficient algorithm has been developed to obtain the cable layout for pre-stressed concrete slabs. For finite element computations, tendon and concrete are modelled by 3 noded bar and 20 noded brick elements respectively. The cable concrete interactions are precisely accounted using vector calculus formulae. Using the proposed technique a two way prestressed concrete slab has been successfully designed considering several design criteria.
The Cable-In-Conduit-Conductor (CICC) for the ITER tokamak Central Solenoid (CS) has undergone design change since the first prototype conductor sample was tested in 2010. After tests showed that the performance of initial conductor samples degraded rapidly without stabilization, an alternate design with shorter sub-cable twist pitches was tested and discovered to satisfy performance requirements, namely that the minimum current sharing temperature ($T_{cs}$) remained above a given limit under DC bias. With consistent successful performance of ITER CS conductor CICC samples using the alternate design, an attempt is made here to revisit the internal electromagnetic properties of the CICC cable design to identify any correlation with conductor performance. Results of this study suggest that there may be a simple link between the $Nb_3Sn$ CICC internal self-field and its $T_{cs}$ performance. The study also suggests that an optimization process should exist that can further improve the performance of $Nb_3Sn$ based CICC.
This paper proposes a new method for the preliminary design of cable-stayed bridges that belong to the radial system subjected to static loads (self weight, traffic loads, concentrated loads, etc). The method is based on the determination of the each time existing relation between the tension forces of the cables and the corresponding bridge-deck deformations, and can be extended on any type of cable layout (fan, parallel, or mixed system). Galerkin's method is used for the final determination of the cable stresses and the bridge deformation. The determination of the equation, which gives the forces of the cables in relation to the deck's configurations, permits us to convert the problem to the solving of a continuous beam without cables.

This paper describes magnetic field on power cable in underground transmission systems. Based on specification which is being used in domestic power utility, magnetic field was analyzed in accordance with line arrangement, line burial depth and phase spacing. Magnetic field magnitude and its trend were understood in each circuit type such as double circuits, triple circuits and quadruple circuits of underground transmission systems. In addition, magnetic field was analyzed according to phase arrangement changing in each circuit. Finally, the proper phase arrangement configuration type was suggested by the evaluation of analysis result. Magnetic field was calculated by using Biot-Savart's law. According to the evaluated magnetic fields based on phase layout configuration in each circuit, it figured out that each of magnetic fields was different. As a result, this paper proposes a proper phase layout configuration for generating minimum magnetic field. It is evaluated that the phase layout configuration in each circuit proposed in this paper can be used at actual underground transmission systems.

LRU layout is a complex problem that requires consideration of various criteria such as airworthiness, performance, maintainability and environmental requirements. As aircraft functions become more complex, the necessary equipment is increasing, and unmanned aerial vehicles are equipped with more equipment as a substitute for pilots. Due to the complexity of the problem, the increase in the number of equipment, and the limited development period, the placement of equipment is largely dependent on the engineer's insight and experience. For optimization, quantitative criteria are required for evaluation, but criteria such as safety, performance, and maintainability are difficult to quantitatively compare or have limitations. In this study, we consider the installation and maintenance of the equipment, simplify the deployment model to the traveling salesman problem, Optimization was performed using a genetic algorithm to minimize the weight of the connecting cable between the equipment. When the optimization results were compared with the global calculations, the same results were obtained with less time required, and the improvement was compared with the heuristic.

A cable structures have the advantage that cover a large space without column but it is very sensitive to deal with shape control because of its flexibility. Especially, location of control member and needed elongation of member are important things. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is studied on displacement control technique for pre-stressed cable structures by force method considering order of control. The layout of this paper is as follows. Firstly, in section 2, the control technique by force method for cable structures is given. Secondly, section 3 briefly introduces simple cable net in order to apply control technique considering ordering of actuator. Finally, more complex example for effective member and the conclusion are in section 4 and 5, respectively.

The cable tray design of an offshore plant production design is to optimally arrange the 3D modeling so that the cable can be installed without interfering with the structural members and various outfit equipment, and it is performed using a PDMS (Plant design management system), which is a 3D CAD system for an offshore plant layout. This study reviewed the development of PML (Programmable macro language) for a PDMS supporting offshore plant cable tray design and examined the efficiency compared to the existing method. Cable tray design PML developed in this paper enables fully parametric design using electrical outfit template library, allowing a rapid response to frequent modifications due to design changes and minimizing repetitive work fatigue by reflecting the accumulated design experience. In addition, the developed system was applied to the offshore plant structure module and it improved the work efficiency by more than 50% compared to the existing method.

This paper describes the shaping formation and the erection of SCST structure by cable-tensioning. It could be a fast and economical method for constructing the space structure consisted with uniform pyramids by cable-tensioning of the cable in bottom chords. In the initial layout, the top chords and web members are left at their true length, the bottom chords are given gaps in proportion to the desired final shape. The feasibility of the proposed shaping method and the reliability of the established geometric model were confirmed with nonlinear finite element analysis and an experimental investigation on small scale and full size test models. As a result, the behaviour characteristic of MERO joint is very significant in shaping analysis of space structure. This study suggests the most reasonable modeling technique for the prediction of shaping in practices. And it is shown the characteristic of the behavior in shaping test for practical design purposes.

In this paper, I designed a P1394 serial bus chip as new bus interface architecture which can transmit the multimedia data at the rate of 400 Mbps and guarantee necessary bandwidth. because multimedia data become meaningless data after appropriate time, it is necessary to transfer multimedia data in real time, P1394 serial bus chip designed in this paper support isochronous transfer mode to solve this problem. Also, designed P1394 serial bus chip can transfer high quality video data or high quality audio data because it support the speed of 400 Mbps. While user must set device ID manually in previous interface such as SCSI, device ID is automatically determined if user connect each node with designed P1394 serial bus cable and power on. To design this chip, I verified the behavioral of the entrire system and synthesized layout. Also, I did layout the analog blocks and blocks which must be optimized in full custom.

The aim of this paper is to open up a relatively new type in bridge engineering by introducing plan and design of extradosed bridge which is implemented in Sungnam-Janghowon T/K project. The topic encompasses parametric study including the behavior of the bridge relevant to the cable layout, the distance from pier table to the first cable's location, the height of pylon, the stiffness of cross section and wind vibration to ascertain sectional type of bridge and span length. For the purpose of the knowledge base presented here, the important feature of design is recommended such as modeling method, camber control, finite element analysis and heat hydration of pier table. We can verify the issue related to the characteristics of extradosed bridge as a result of study and design endeavor.
