Influence of Temperature and Affinity of Disperse Dye on Dyeing of PET(Polyethylene Terephthalate) Microfiber (PET 초극세사 염색에서 분산염료의 친화력과 온도 의존성)

  • PET microfibers with various diameters (0.5, 0.2, 0.06, and 0.01 dpf) were dyed with a dispersed dye (C.I. Disperse Blue 56) at various temperatures. The dyeing process was conducted under infinite dyebath conditions at constant temperatures. The effects of the dyeing temperature and diameter on the partition coefficient, affinity, and diffusion coefficient of disperse dyes were studied. The curve of isotherms was fitted well to Nernst-type model in a large range of initial dye concentrations. At the same temperature, the partition coefficient and affinity decreased with increasing sample diameter due to the increase in surface area. At all deniers, the partition coefficient and affinity decreased with increasing temperature because the dyeing process is an exothermic reaction. In addition, the decrease in radius of the sample gives rise to a decrease in the heat of dyeing. The fine diameter of the sample resulted in an increased surface area but decreased space between the microfibers. Consequently, decreasing the diameter of the microfibers leads to a decrease in the diffusion coefficient. At the same diameter, the diffusion coefficient increased with increasing temperature because of rapid dye movement and the large free volume of the sample inside. In addition, thermal dependence of the diffusion coefficient increased when the diameter of the sample increased.

A Study on the VOCs Emission Characteristics of RV and MPV (RV차량 및 소형승합차량의 휘발성유기화합물 배출특성 연구)

  • Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are well known as ozone precursors from photochemical reactions and contribute to the formation of photochemical smog which pose health hazards. Also, some of these compounds directly affect the human health due to their toxicity such as benzene. In this study, NMVOCs composition in exhaust gas from recreational vehicle (RV) and (MPV) were characterized using a chassis dynamometer. The results for NMVOCs have reported that alkanes emission was higher than alkenes, aromatics and cycloalkanes due to reactive of diesel oxidation catalysts. The NMVOCs composition according to carbon number was highly distributed between C3 and C6~C8. During the engine cold start condition, NMVOCs emission was higher compared to the engine hot start condition due to the increased catalytic activity. The NMVOCs emission with DPF increased compared to that without DPF. The results of this study will be provide to calculate VOCs emissions from mobile source.

Early Gonadogenesis and Sex Differentiation of a Marine Medaka, Oryzias dancena (Beloniformes; Teleostei) (해산 송사리 Oryzias dancena의 초기 생식소 형성 및 성분화)

  • Sex differentiation and gonad development were investigated in a marine medaka species, Oryzias dancena (Beloniformes; Teleostei). The average time to hatch was 11 days post-fertilization (dpf) at $25^{\circ}C$. Primordial germ cell (PGC) was first observed at 5 dpf and migrated to presumptive gonadal area between the gut and pronephric duct at 9 dpf. Male and female gonads were morphologically differentiated at 12 days post-hatching (dph). Early oocytes at perinucleolus stage as well as the formation of spermatid and efferent duct were observed at 28 dph. At 6 weeks of age, the ovary exhibited yolk granulation in many oocytes, while testis possessed a considerable number of spermatogonia and spermatids. The first ovulation was observed in 9-week-old females, and at the same age, males contained fully-matured spermatozoa. Data obtained in this study indicate that the gonad differentiation of O. dancena is the typical type of differentiated gonochorism.

PM Reduction Characteristics of Partial Metal DPF with Screen Mesh Filter Structure (스크린 필터 구조 Partial Metal DPF의 PM 저감 특성)

  • In this work, the 1L grade integrated metal DOC/DPF filter that can install in engine manifold position was developed to investigate the effect of platinum-coating amount of filter on the improvement of filter activation temperature and reduction of particulate matter (PM). This filter was installed in 2.9L CI engine which meets the EURO-4 emission regulation. Tests for PM reduction efficiency of filter were conducted under ND-13 mode with full-load test condition. It was revealed that the time to reach the activation temperature of metal filter ($280^{\circ}C$) was shorter as the amount of platinum-coating increased. This short activation time can be helpful for the reduction of CO and HC emissions during cold start condition. At the same time, PM reduced as the coating amount increased. The reduction percentage of $DOC_{40}$, $DOC_{20}$, and $DOC_0$ were 96.7% (2.34 mg/kW'h), 95.1% (3.47 mg/kW'h), and 94.5% (3.69 mg/kW'h) compared to previous result (71.4 mg/kW'h), respectively.

  • Mankind is enjoying a great convenience of their life by the rapid growth of secondary industry since the Industrial Revolution and it is possible due to the invention of huge power such as engine. The automobile which plays the important role of industrial development and human movement is powered by the Engine Module, and especially Diesel engine is widely used because of mechanical durability and energy efficiency. The main work mechanism of the Diesel engine is composed of inhalation of the organic material (coal, oil, etc.), combustion, explosion and exhaust Cycle process then the carbon compound emissions during the last exhaust process are essential which is known as the major causes of air pollution issues in recent years. In particular, COx, called carbon oxide compound which is composed of a very small size of the particles from several ten to hundred nano meter and they exist as a suspension in the atmosphere. These Diesel particles can be accumulated at the respiratory organs and cause many serious diseases. In order to compensate for the weak point of such a Diesel Engine, the DPF(Diesel Particulate Filter) post-cleaning equipment has been used and it mainly consists of ceramic materials(SiC, Cordierite etc) because of the necessity for the engine system durability on the exposure of high temperature, high pressure and chemical harsh environmental. Ceramic Material filter, but it remains a lot of problems yet, such as limitations of collecting very small particles below micro size, high cost due to difficulties of manufacturing process and low fuel consumption efficiency due to back pressure increase by the small pore structure. This study is to test the possibility of new structure by direct infiltration of SiC Whisker on Carbon felt as the next generation filter and this new filter is expected to improve the above various problems of the Ceramic DPF currently in use and reduction of the cost simultaneously. In this experiment, non-catalytic VS CVD (Vapor-Solid Chemical Vaporized Deposition) system was adopted to keep high mechanical properties of SiC and MTS (Methyl-Trichloro-Silane) gas used as source and H2 gas used as dilute gas. From this, the suitable whisker growth for high performance filter was observed depending on each deposition conditions change (input gas ratio, temperature, mass flow rate etc.).

Fish Myogenic Regulatory Protein LUC7L: Characterization and Expression Analysis in Korean Rose Bitterling (Rhodeus uyekii)

  • Serine-arginine-rich nuclear protein LUC7L plays an important role in the regulation of myogenesis in mice. In the present study, we isolated and characterized the Korean rose bitterling Rhodeus uyekii Luc7l cDNA, designated RuLuc7l. The RuLuc7l cDNA is 1,688 bp long and encodes a 364-amino-acid polypeptide containing serine/arginine-rich region at the C-terminus. The deduced RuLuc7l protein has high amino acid identity (71-97%) with those of other species including human. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that RuLUC7L clustered with fish LUC7L proteins. The expression of RuLuc7l mRNA was high in the brain, kidney, and stomach of Korean rose bitterling. Expression of the RuLuc7l mRNA was detected from 1 day post-fertilization (dpf) and moderately increased until 21 dpf during the early development. Further investigations are required to elucidate the functional role of RuLUC7L in myogenesis in R. uyekii.

The Study on the Assesment Greenhouse Gases and Air Pollutants of Diesel Vehicle according to Ambient Temperature and Driving Condition (대기온도와 운전조건에 따른 디젤자동차의 차량 온실가스 및 대기오염물질 배출특성에 관한 연구)

  • As the interest on the air pollution is gradually risen up at home and abroad, their vehicle emission regulations have been reinforcing by steps. PM regulation was also reinforced 4times for the last 13years and has been applied to SI vehicles after EURO 5. Additionally, knowing that small particles of PM can easily penetrate deep into lungs PM number was added on the regulation from EURO5+ and is applied to CI vehicles. Also, PN regulation is going to be applied to SI vehicles. But, because the regulation is appled to only a general test mode of each countries that is performed at $25{\pm}5^{\circ}C$, it is unclear whether the regulation can work on the other ambient temperature conditions or not. In this paper, to know that exhaust emission characteristics at the special conditions CI vehicles(CRDi w, w/o DPF) were tested using 5-cycle mode, NEDC mode at 5-ambient temperatures (35, 25, 0, -7 and -15) and the exhaust emission test results were discussed. The results show that the vehicle with DPF emits much low PM(and PM number) on all of the test mode. However, NOx of the other mode was emitted higher than regulation mode. Also. NOx was sharply increased according to decreasing Ambient Temperature.

Ceramic Diesel Particulate Filter Structure with Inclined Gas Paths

  • This paper presents a novel structure for a diesel particulate filter (DPF) with inclined gas paths, which was designed so that the gas paths offered a fluent flow of exhaust gases, and particulate matter (PM) was collected at pores formed in the body. The alumina porous filter was prepared by a conventional sintering process at $1200^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. Straight gas paths with $30^{\circ}$ of inclination from the gas flow direction were formed in the filter body. It is shown that this filter structure worked as a PM filter, in which 90.2% of soot filtration efficiency and 59.6 mbar of pressure drop were achieved.

The Effect of the Sintering Additives on the Fabrication and Thermal Conductivity of Porous Sintered RBSN

  • The nitriding and post-sintering behavior of silicon powder compact containing sintering additives of 2.3 wt% and 7 wt% were investigated in this study. Regardless of the liquid phase content, elongated large grains of a typical morphology evolved in the post-sintered specimens. Phase analysis revealed a complete phase transformation into ${\beta}-Si_3N_4$ in both porous systems. Oxynitride second phases (mellilite) precipitated in the latter, while those were free in the former containing less amount of liquid phase. The post-sintering condition that yielded a favorable microstructure for a filter application was achieved when the specimens were soaked at $1800^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. It was found that the thermal conductivity of porous $Si_3N_4$ ceramics is dominated by the porosity more than this factor is influenced by the addition of $Al_2O_3$.

  • In this paper, The characteristic of Harmonic spectrum is studied for generally used three-phase diode rectifier. and filter design criteria is showen in the sense of THD, DPF, and PF. As the becoming of Automative and informative era, the demand of critical and stable control becomes more and more important. But much EMI emissions are generated for more critical and stable control in power electronic system these EMI emissions can be measured using LISN(Line Impedance Stabilization Network). So we are to investigate the behavior of Conducted EMI emission in Diode Rectifiers using LISN in frequency domain.
