Charge-coupled analog-to-Digital Converter (전하결합소자를 이용한 Analog-to-Digital 변화기)

  • Experimental results on a 4-bit charge-coupled A/D converter are described. Major operations in the successive approximation algorithm are implemented in a monolithic chip, CCADC, which was fabricated usir p-channel CCD technology, with its die size of 4,200 mil2 Typical operating frequency range has been found out to be from 500Hz to 200kHz. In that frequency range, no missing code has been found in the whole signal range of 2.4 volts for ramp signal slewing at 1 LSB/(sampling time). A discussion is made on several layout techniques to conserve the nominal binary ratio of (8:4:2:1) among the areas of four adjacent potential wells (M wells), whose charge storing capacities correspond to each bit magnitude - 3.6 pC, 1.8 pC, 0.9 pC, and 0.45 pC nominal in the order of MSB to the LSB. The effect of 'dump slot', which is responsible for the excessive nonlinearity (2$\frac{1}{2}$LSB) in the A/D converter, is explained. A novel input scheme called 'slot zero insertion' to circumvent the deleterious effects of the dump slot is described with the experimental results.

  • The results of study on the active control of naturally occurring combustion oscillations with a single dominant frequency in an atmospheric dump combustor are presented. Control was achieved by an oscillatory infection of secondary fuel at the dump plane. A high speed solenoid valve with a maximum frequency of 250Hz was used as the actuator and a sound level meter, located at the combustor exit, measured the pressure fluctuations which served as the feedback signal for the control loop. Instability characteristics were mapped over a range of mean mixing section velocities from 6.7 m/s-9.3 m/s and with three mixing conditions. Different fuel/air mixing conditions were investigated by introducing varying percentages of primary fuel at two locations, one at the entrance to the mixing section and one 6 mixing tube diameters upstream of the dump plane. Control studies were conducted at a mean velocity of 9.3 m/s, with an air temperature of $415^{\circ}C$, and from flame blowout to the stoichiometric condition.

Performance of Multi-level Inverter for High-Speed SR Drive (SRM의 고속운전을 위한 새로운 멀티레벨 인버터의 구동특성)

  • In this paper, a novel multi-level inverter for low cost high speed switched reluctance(SR) drive is proposed. The proposed multi-level converter has reduced number of power switches and diodes than that of a conventional asymmetric converter for SRM and smaller voltage rating of the dump capacitor comparing with energy efficient c-dump converter. It can supply five operating modes that is boosted, DC-link, zero, negative bias and negative boosted voltage. The proposed multi-level converter has fast excitation and demagnetization modes of phase current, so dynamic response can be achieved. The proposed multi-level converter is verified by computer simulation and experimental results.

  • In this paper, OUIG IDL CFE, provided by Sunsoft, is used to take a IDL definitions as inputs and parse those. OmniORB3 is introduced to support functionality of the ORB. Suns CFE produce AST after parsing inputs. Actually, the node of AST Is instances of classes which are derived from CFE classes. As the compiler back end visit the node of the AST using iterator class, UTL_ScopeActiveIterator, it dumps codes of output. During processing, two files are generated. Routines of generating code are invoked by BE_produce.cc and codes are produced while visiting root of AST, idl_global->root(). The dump* functions which dump codes is called according to the type of node. In this paper, Mapping C++ of IDL definition is experimented and results In the same as that of omniidl which is provided by omniORB3. The code of results behavior correctly on omniORB3. In the future, we are interested in optimizing the performance of marshalling code via IDL compiler.

A study of geothermal heat dump for solar collectors overheat protection (태양열 집열관 과열방지를 위한 지중열교환기 연구)

  • The heating load using solar hot water is lower in summer than in the other seasons. This decreased heating load leads to the overheating solar collectors and related components. To prevent overheating of the solar collectors, air cooling and shading shields were used. On the other hand, it requires additional mechanical components, and reduces the system reliability. The geothermal heat dump system to release the high temperature heat (over $150^{\circ}C$) transferred from the heat pipe solar collectors was investigated in the present study. Research on the heat dump to cool the solar collector is rare. Therefore, the present study was carried out to collect possible data of a geothermal heat dump to cool the solar collector. A helical type geothermal heat exchanger was buried at a 1.2m depth. Experimentally and numerically, the geothermal heat dump was investigated in terms of the effects of parameters, such as the quantity of solar radiation, aperture area of the collector and the mass flow rate. A pipe length of 50m on the geothermal heat exchanger was suitable with a 0.33 kg/s flow rate. The water reservoir was a possible co-operation solution linked to the geothermal heat exchanger.

Creation of Vector Network Data with Considering Terrain Gradient for Analyzing Optimal Haulage Routes of Dump Trucks in Open Pit Mines (노천광산 덤프트럭의 최적 운반경로 분석을 위한 지형경사가 고려된 벡터 네트워크 자료의 생성 방법)

  • Previous studies for analyzing optimal haulage routes of dump trucks in open pit mines mostly used raster data. However, the raster data has several problems in performing optimal route analyses: (1) the jagged appearance of haulage roads according the cell resolution often causes overestimation of the travel cost; (2) it difficult to trace the topological relationships among haulage roads. These problems can be eliminated by using vector network data, however a new method is required to reflect the performance characteristics of a dump truck according to terrain gradient changes. This study presents a new method to create vector network data with the consideration of terrain gradient for analyzing optimal haulage routes of dump trucks in open pit mines. It consists of four procedures: (a) creating digital elevation models, (b) digitizing haulage road networks, (c) calculating the terrain gradient of haulage roads, and (d) calculating the average speed and travel time of a dump truck along haulage roads. A simple case study at the Roto South pit in the Pasir open pit coal mine, Indonesia is also presented to provide proof that the proposed method is easily compatible to ArcGIS Network Analyst software and is effective in finding optimal haulage routes of dump trucks with considering terrain gradient in open pit mines.

  • Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) offers the advantages of simple and robust motor construction, high speed and high efficiency over a wide operating range of torque and speed, excellent controllability. However SRM has the disadvantages of high current harmonics, and low power factor because the required output of speed and torque is produced by the discontinuous and loss of power system, and brings about the incorrect operation of electronic system. This paper deals with an energy efficient converter fed SRM system with the reduced harmonics and improved power factor. The validity of the proposed scheme is verified via experiments. We are implemented the proposed control system using 80C196KC micro-controller.

Study on Heat Recovery System using Waste Biomass (폐 바이오매스를 이용한 폐열 회수 열교환기에 관한 연구)

  • Waste heat recovery system was studied numerically and experimentally. Heat exchanger system was designed specially to obtain the optimum heat exchanging performance. Brushwood biomass was used for the present experimental study. Two biomass heat recovery systems were designed and developed. Polyethylene helical pipe line of 0.03 m (inner diameter) was installed to recover the heat of biomass dump. The fermentation process of biomass dump was maintained for 12 weeks. The inner average temperature of biomass was about 51$^{\circ}C$ for both hot exchanger systems. The current heat recovery system could recover up to 6 ㎉/kg of energy.
