Determination of the quality of stripe-marked and cracked eggs during storage

  • Objective: Stripe marks, which occasionally occur on the shell, do not cause breakage to the shell and shell membranes of eggs. This study investigated the quality of intact eggs (IEs), minor stripe-marked eggs (MEs), severe stripe-marked eggs (SEs), and cracked eggs (CEs) during 3-week storage at $25^{\circ}C$. Methods: Shell eggs were collected the day after being laid and were washed. Among them, eggs without any visual cracks or stripe marks on the shells were evaluated as IEs by the plant employees using candling in a darkened egg storage room; the remaining eggs exhibited some eggshell defects. At day 3, the eggs were further categorized into IEs, MEs, SEs, CEs, and broken eggs (BEs) on the basis of the description given. Except BEs, which were discarded, the remaining eggs were stored at $25^{\circ}C$ (approximate relative humidity 50%) and then analyzed. Results: Stripe marks were observed primarily within the first 3 days after washing. At day 3, CEs had significantly (p<0.05) lower Haugh unit values, but all eggs had grades AA or A, according to the United States Department of Agriculture standard. As storage time increased, differences in egg quality between groups were more obvious. IEs had the highest eggshell breaking strength. During storage, the total plate counts and pathogens, namely Escherichia coli, Campylobacter spp., Staphylococcus aureus, and Salmonella spp., were not detectable in the internal content of IEs and SEs. Conclusion: In conclusion, cracks degraded egg quality severely and minor stripe marks only slightly influenced the egg quality.

Factors Influencing Protoplast Isolation and Culture in Three Capsicum Species (세 가지 고추속 식물의 원형질체 분리 및 배양에 미치는 요인)

  • Protoplasts were isolated from cotyledons, hypocotyls, and mesophyll tissues of three species of Capsicum species (C. anuumm, C. bacatuum, and C. chacoense). Combination of Cellulysin (1%) and Macero-zyme (0.25%) in 0.65 M sorbitol was found to be the most effective for the digestion of cell wall, regardless of the Capsicum species. Antioxidant MES (2-[N-Morpholino]ethanesulfonic acid) in the enzyme solution helped protoplasts overcome browning. After 5 days of initial culture, Cell division occurred in modified K8p medium containing 1~5 mg/L zeatin, 0.5 mg/L IAA, 0.1~0.5 mg/L TDZ, and 1 mg/L 2,4-D under continuous dark condition at $25^{\circ}C$. Semi-solid agarose culture method was more effective than liquid culture, and it also protected the cells from browning caused by polyphenolic compound released during protoplast culture. A total of 4000 calli were obtained from protoplast culture of different capsicum species. All of these calli were transferred to the 100 combinations of regeneration media using various plant growth regulators; TDZ, IAA, 2ip, BAP, NAA, and zeatin. These calli derived from protoplast of three species of capsicum were, however, not differentiated into shoots.

  • As a part of our study on the improvement of anticonvulsant, here we report the synthesis of N-acyl-$\alpha$-aminosuc-cinimides 1 and N-acyl-$\alpha$-aminoglutarimides 2. (R)-Benzoic acid 4-benzyloxycarbonylamino-2-oxo-pyrrolidin-1-ylester 6a, (R)-4-nifro-benzoic acid 4-benzyloxycarbonylamino-2- oxo-pyrrolidin-1-yl ester 6b, (R) -4-nitro-benzoic acid 4-benzyloxycarbonylamino-2-oxo-pyrrolidin-1-yl ester 6c, and (R)-propionic acid 4-benzyloxycarbonylamino-2-oxo-pyrrolidin-1-yl ester 6d were synthesized from (R)-2-benzyloxy carbonylamino-succinic acid 3 as a starting meterial. (R)-(3- Benzyloxycarbonylamino-2,6-dioxo-piperidin-1-yloxy)-acetic acid methyl ester 10a, (R)-(3-benzyloxycarbonylamino-2,6-dioxo-piperidin-1-yloxy)-acetic acid ethy1 ester 10b, an d (R)-2-(3-benzyloxycarbonylamino-2,6- diox o-piperidin-1-yl oxy)-propionic acid methyl ester l0c were synthesized from (R)- 3-carbobenzyloxy-amino-glutarmic acid 7 as a starting meterial. The yield, mp, IR, $^1H-NMR,\; and^{13}C$- NMR spectra of the products 6a, 6b, 6c, 6d, 10a, l0b, l0c are summarized in footnote. The biological studies of these compounds are in progress and will be reported in future.

An Optimal Merge Algorithm on the Mes (메쉬 상의 최적 합병 알고리즘)

  • 합병 문제는 정렬된 두 개의 리스트 A=(a1, a2,....,al)와 B=(b1, b2,....,bm)가 주어질 때, 이두 리스트를 합병하여 하나의 정렬된 리스트 C=(c1, c2,....,cn),n=l+m,로 만드는 문제이다. 지금까지는 {{{{ SQRT {n} }}}}$\times${{{{ SQRT {n} }}}} 메쉬 상에서 odd-even 합병을 재귀적으로 수행하는 O({{{{ SQRT {n} }}}})시간 합병 알고리즘이 주로 사용되었는데, 이 재귀적 합병 알고리즘은 그 기본정책은 간단하나, 메쉬 상에 구현 될때 라우팅과 같은 복잡한 연산이 필요하게 된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 간단한 행, 열 연산 만을 사용하여 메쉬 상에서 쉽게 구현가능한 O({{{{ SQRT {n} }}}})시 간의 최적 분할 합병 알고리즘을 제안한다.

A Decision Tree Approach for Identifying Defective Products in the Manufacturing Process

  • Recently, due to the significance of Industry 4.0, the manufacturing industry is developing globally. Conventionally, the manufacturing industry generates a large volume of data that is often related to process, line and products. In this paper, we analyzed causes of defective products in the manufacturing process using the decision tree technique, that is a well-known technique used in data mining. We used data collected from the domestic manufacturing industry that includes Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Point of Production (POP), equipment data accumulated directly in equipment, in-process/external air-conditioning sensors and static electricity. We propose to implement a model using C4.5 decision tree algorithm. Specifically, the proposed decision tree model is modeled based on components of a specific part. We propose to identify the state of products, where the defect occurred and compare it with the generated decision tree model to determine the cause of the defect.

Therapeutic Potency of N-(Phosphonacetyl)-L-Aspartic Acid in Liposome in Established Tumor Bearing Mice (진행된 암 동물모델에서의 리포좀 포집 PALA의 항암 치료 효과)

  • Previously, we have reported an antitumor efficacy of liposomal N-(phosphon-acetyl)-L-aspartic acid (or PALA) in C-26 tumor bearing Balb/c mice, where PALA in liposome was administered one day after tumor inoculation. In this report, we have investigated the therapeutic potency of liposomal formulation of PALA, which was administered eight days after tumor inoculation in the same C-26 tumor bearing mice. The C-26 murine colon tumor inoculated mice were randomized for the in vivo therapy and the survival was measured after a single intraperitoneal injection of the drug. When the therapy was initiated eight days after tumor inoculation, DSPC-PALA at 150 mg/kg resulted in a significant increase in median survival time (MST) of 56% over the control group which received MES/HEPES buffer alone. However, none of the free PALA and DSPG-PALA liposome doses caused a statistically significant increase in MST over control group at the 95% confidence level. At 750 mg/kg dose, free PALA caused a marginally significant improvement in MST by 34%, but both 375 mg/kg and 150 mg/kg doses of free PALA caused only a 2% and a 4% increase in MST, respectively. These results show that PALA in neutrally charged liposome can exhibit considerably greater potency than free PALA in established C-26 tumor bearing mice.

  • Les positions qu'essait d'expliquer les $probl{\grave{e}}mes$ divers ${\grave{a}}$ propos de la $sexualit{\acute{e}}$, faisaient ressortir les points biologiques des actions $d^{\prime}{\hat{e}}tre$ humain par ${\acute{e}}volutionnisme$ plutot qu'explique les $probl{\grave{e}}mes$ de la nature humaine, $d{\acute{e}}sirs$ sexuelles, par les $sci{\acute{e}}t{\grave{e}}s$, les cultures et les'institutions. En face des questions des $possibilit{\acute{e}}s$ d'explications biologiques sur toutes les actions sexuelles, ils sont $plac{\acute{e}}s$ en crise. Le fait que $l^{\prime}{\hat{e}}tre$ humain est un'etre historique, n'implique pas ce qu'il est evolutionnaire. Pour cette raison, c'est difficile qu'on accepte le determisme biologique, $l^{\prime}{\acute{e}}volutionnisme$, sans conditions. En opposition avec cettes $id{\acute{e}}es$, Michel Foucault voudrait insister sur le fait de penser au sexe comme les $r{\acute{e}}sultats$ des productions sociologiques, politiques. Selon Foucault, la $sexualit{\acute{e}}$ n'est pas $donn{\acute{e}}$ de la nature que le pouvoir essaierait de mater, ou un domaine obscure que le savoir tendrait de $d{\acute{e}}voiler$, mais une sorte de dispositif historique. Donc, dans cet article, j'essaie d'examiner les processus, les differences, et les $probl{\grave{e}}mes$ entre les deux positions, puis je considere les limites philosophiques, des deux argumentations, et ses implications philosophique. Cela permet d'approcher ${\grave{a}}$ l'horizon divers du discours sexuelles de la $compr{\acute{e}}hension$.

Characteristics of Functional Fermented Milk by Mixed Starters of Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Kluyveromyces marxianus (Lactobacillus bulgaricus와 Kluyveromyces marxianus의 혼합 스타터를 이용한 기능성 발효유의 특성)

  • This study was carried out to investigate characteristics of acid and alcohol fermented milk by mixed starters made by Lactobacillus bulgaricus (KCTC 3635) and Kluyveromyces marxianus (KCTC 17212) for 36 hours when the curds were formed. Final pH and titratable acidity were about 4.5 and 0.68%, respectively. The viable cell counts of lactic acid bacteria and yeast for alcohol fermented milk were increased to $3.2{\times}10^9 CFU/mL$ and $5.3{\times}10^9 CFU/mL$, respectively. The ethanol contents increased to 0.35% during fermentation. Antitumor activities of the fermented milk against tumor cell lines, such as HEp-2, HEC-1B, SW-156 and SK-MES-1 showed to 86.6, 70.3, 60.4 and 57.14%, respectively.

  • To increase the productivity and efficiency of an enterprise, all relevant product information should be provided to shop floor workers timely and in a unified form because shop floor workers are final consumers of most accumulated information generated from various departments of an enterprise. But, most existing enterprise information systems have an emphasis upon providing design/manufacturing information to office workers. Proposed in this study is the development of integrated design/manufacturing information system focused on providing cohesive information required to shop floor activities. For developing integrated information system, the functional requirements at the shop floor are identified and analyzed. Based on the extracted functional requirements, object-oriented system design and implementation is conducted. By using this system, shop floor workers can use all relevant information required to their daily operation in a integrated and unified form.
