  • This paper discusses two different techniques used to measure the mechanical properties of thin films: the bulge test and the nanoindentation test. In the bulge test, a uniform pressure is applied to one side of the film. Measurement of the membrane deflection as a function of the applied pressure allows one to determine the mechanical properties such as Young's modulus, and the residual stress. A nanoindentation test is performed by pushing an indenter tip into the specimen and then withdrawing it, and then recording the indentation force as a function of the indenter position. A modified King's model is used to estimate the mechanical properties of the thin film in order to avoid the effects of the substrate layers. A combination of both the bulge test and the nanoindentation test can determine both Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio simultaneously.

  • In this study, the mechanical properties of a Ti thin film are measured by a bulge test. In the bulge test, uniform pressure is applied to one side of the film. Measurement of the membrane deflection as a function of the applied pressure allows one to determine the mechanical properties of the film. Ti thin films with thicknesses of 1.0, 1.5, and $2.0{\mu}m$ were deposited on a Si wafer by using an RF magnetron sputtering system. These specimens were annealed at $600^{\circ}C$ for 150, 300, and 600 s to investigate the effect of temperature on the yield stress and mechanical properties of the Ti films. The elastic modulus, residual stress, and yield stress of these membranes are measured by a bulge test. The experimental results suggest that the yield stress is sensitive to the film thickness and annealing time.

  • It depend on relative combat power, patriotism and cohesion of citizen to victory in the battlefield. This stu dy try to analysis why the Germany army fail 'the Battle of the Bulge'. The Germany army plan of maneuve r to attack the France army was surprise attack in the beginning of World War II. The Germany army have initiative to make breakthrough Ardennes Ridge. The operation of the Ardennes Offensive Operation and the Battle of the Bulge is the typical features of blitzkrieg shock. However, the results are extremely different. In the course of the operational planning and decision the course of action, military security is most important fa ctor. We can see the truth in 'the Battle of the Bulge'.

  • IT 산업 및 반도체 산업이 발전함에 따라 초소형, 고집적화 시스템의 요구에 대응하기 위해서 고해상도 및 고정밀의 패턴 구현에 관한 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 이러한 연구는 각종 산업제품의 PCB(Printed Circuit Board) 및 디스플레이 장치인 PDP(Plasma Display Panel), LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) 등에 적용되어 널리 응용되고 있다.

  • The presence of double red clump (RC; metal-rich counterpart of horizontal-branch) in high latitude field of the Milky Way (MW) bulge is widely interpreted as evidence for an X-shaped structure originated from the bar instability. However, Lee et al. (2015) recently suggested an alternative model, according to which the double RC is metal-rich manifestation of multiple stellar population phenomenon observed in globular clusters (GCs). Here we show that stars in bright RC are enhanced in CN compared to those in faint RC from our low-resolution spectroscopy. CN traces N, and N-rich stars are also enhanced in Na and He in GCs. Since GCs are the only environment that produce second generation stars with enhanced N, Na, & He, this is a direct evidence that stars in the classical bulge component of the MW were mostly provided by proto-GCs.

  • Long-slit spectra, covering the wavelength range 4050~5150$\AA$, have been used to investigate the radial behavior of absorption line features (G4300, Fe4383, Ca4455, Fe4531, Fe4668, and H$\beta$) along the major and minor axes of the bulge of M104. The heliocentric recession velocity of M104 has been derived as 1260$\pm$190${kms}^{-1}$. The strength of a number of metal absorption lines is decreasing with increasing radius, and the minor axis shows much steeper radial line gradients than the major axis. Line index of H$\beta$ has an opposite trend to other metal lines, i.e., increasing outward. The results in this paper imply that the properties of absorption line index distribution in M104 bulge have in many aspects similar trends to those of elliptical galaxies.

  • We present the detailed image decomposition of Hubble Space Telescope archival images for 235 nearby (z < 0.35) unobscured type 1 AGNs. It allows us to perform robust measurements of host galaxy properties and AGN luminosity contribution. We examine how the host properties correlate with AGN properties. Broad line type 1 and radio-loud AGNs are hosted preferentially by early type galaxies. Narrow line type 1 AGNs show a low fraction of tidal interaction, that might suggest the secular evolution may play an important role for triggering AGN activity, while the fraction of merging hosts is rather higher in luminous AGNs. We compare the nucleus luminosity and bulge luminosity and find that either our sample might have a smaller zero point in the M(BH)-L(bulge) relation (i.e. less massive black hole at a given bulge luminosity) relation compared to the normal galaxies or Eddington ratio of our sample could be systematically overestimated.

  • We investigate the hydrodynamics of gas clouds in the central few hundred parsecs of the Galaxy. Non-axisymmetry (elongation) of the Galactic bulge can form a reservoir of dense molecular clouds at around two hundred parsecs from the center through the X1-X2 orbit transfer, and the star formation that has been sustained for the lifetime of the galaxy can build up a nuclear bulge there. If the nuclear bulge is elongated, this again can transport the gas there down to the central few parsecs region. We perform a series of 3-D hydrodynamic simulations that consider a potential for this "nested bar", cooling/heating, star formation and supernova feedback, and estimate the efficiency of the gas inflow down to the central parsec region.

  • Recent investigation of the APOGEE bulge stars by Zasowski et al. (2018) shows a fraction of stars enhanced in O, Ca, and Mg abundances. It is not clear, however, that this apparent ${\alpha}$-bimodality is reflecting a real feature or an artifact from spectral fitting. We will report our progress in understanding the nature and reality of this phenomenon. We will also discuss the spread in Na abundance among the inner bulge stars with respect to that observed among disk sample.

  • The presence of double red clump (RC) in the Milky Way bulge is widely accepted as evidence for a giant X-shaped structure originated from the bar instability. We suggested, however, a drastically different interpretation based on the multiple stellar populations phenomenon as is observed in globular clusters. Our discovery of a significant difference in CN-band between two RCs strengthens our scenario. On the other hand, recent Gaia survey provides trigonometric parallax distances for more than one billion stars in our Galaxy. These distance measurements would provide the important test as to the origin of the double RC in the Milky Way bulge. In this talk, we will present our preliminary results from Gaia DR2.
