  • Real-time application programs have synchronization constraints which need to be met between media-data. Synchronization method represents feedback method including virtual client-side buffer. This buffer is used in buffer level method. It is client-leading synchronization that is absorbing variable transmission delay time and that is synchronizing by feedback control. It is the important factor for playback rate and QoS if the buffer level is normal or not. To solve the problems, we can control the start of transmission in multimedia server by appling filtering, control and network evaluation function. Synchronization method is processing for smooth presentation without cut-off while media is playing out. When audio frame which is master media is in high threshold buffer level we decrease play out time gradually, otherwise we increase it slowly.

Filtering Time Optimization in Vehicle Electronic Control Systems Using a Non-Contact Magnetic Sensor and Dual Buffer Structure (차량용 전자 제어 시스템에서 비접촉식 자기장 센서와 이중 버퍼 구조를 이용한 필터링 시간 최적화)

  • The automotive industry is transitioning from traditional internal combustion engines to systems powered by motors, batteries, and various electronic control units. Central to this shift is the micro-controller unit, which processes data from various sensors for real-time environmental awareness and control. This paper explores using non-contact magnetic sensors for sensing vehicle inclination as part of a digital twin implementation. Unlike optical or contact sensors, non-contact magnetic sensors offer robust performance in challenging environments, providing consistent and reliable data under varying conditions. To optimize real-time data processing, we propose a double buffer structure to enhance digital signal processing performance in embedded systems. Experiments using a custom sensor-integrated board demonstrate that the double buffer structure with direct memory access-enabled serial peripheral interface significantly reduces data processing time and improves noise reduction filtering. Our results show that the proposed system can greatly enhance the reliability and accuracy of sensor data, crucial for real-time vehicle control systems. In particular, by using the double buffer structure proposed in this paper, it was possible to secure 8.27 times more data compared to raw data, despite performing additional filtering. The techniques outlined have potential applications in various fields, offering enhanced monitoring and optimization capabilities, thus paving the way for more advanced and efficient vehicle control technologies.

Partial Go back N Scheme for Occupancy Control of Reordering Buffer in 3GPP ARQ (3GPP ARQ에서 재정렬 버퍼의 점유량 조절을 위한 부분 Go back N 방식)

  • 3GPP RLC protocol specification adopted an error control scheme based on selective repeat ARQ. In the 3GPP ARQ, distinctive windows are provided at transmitting and receiving stations so that those stations are prohibited to send or receive data PDU's out of window. An increase in window size enhances delay performance. Such an increase, however, raises the occupancy at re-ordering buffer, which results in a long re-ordering time. Aiming at suppressing the occupancy at re-ordering buffer, we propose partial go back N scheme in this paper In the partial go back N scheme, the receiving station regards all data PDU's between the first (lowest sequence numbered) error-detected PDU and last (highest sequence numbered) error-detected PDU. By the employment of the partial go back N scheme, the occupancy at the re-ordering buffer is apparently reduced, while the delay and throughput performance may be degraded due to the remaining properties of go back N. We thus consider peak occupancy of re-ordering buffer, mean sojourn time at re-ordering buffer, mean delay time, and maximum throughput as measures to evaluate tile proposed scheme and investigate such performance by using a simulation method. From numerical examples, we observe a trade-off among performance measures and conclude that the partial go back N scheme is able to effectively reduce the occupancy of re-ordering buffer.

Congestion Control of a Priority-Ordered Buffer for Video Streaming Services (영상 스트리밍 서비스를 위한 우선순위 버퍼 혼잡제어 알고리즘)

  • According to the recent development of network technology, the demands of users are diversified and the needs of multimedia traffic are increasing. In general, UDP(User Datagram Protocol) traffic is used to transport multimedia data, which satisfied the real-time and isochronous characteristics. UDP traffic competes with TCP traffic and incur the network congestion. However, TCP traffic performs network congestion control but does not consider the receiver's status. Thus, it is not appropriate in case of streaming services. In this paper, we solve a fairness problems and proposed a network algorithm based on RTP/RTCP(Real-time Transport Protocol/Realtime Transport Control Protocol) in view of receiver status. The POBA(Priority Ordered Buffer Algorithm), which applies priorities in the receiver's buffer and networks, shows that it provides the appropriate environment for streaming services in view of packet loss ratio and buffer utilization of receiver's buffer compared with the previous method.

  • Cluster based VOD systems require elaborate load balancing and buffer management techniques in order to ensure real-time display for multiuser concurrently. In this paper, we propose a new load balancing technique based on the dynamic buffer partitioning in cluster based VOD servers. The proposed technique evenly distribute the user requests into each service node according to its available buffer capacity and disk access rate. In each node, the dynamic buffer partitioning technique dynamically partitions the buffer to minimize the average waiting time for the requests that access the same continuous media. The simulation results show that our proposed technique decreases the average waiting time by evenly distributing the user requests compared with the exiting techniques and then increases the throughput in each node. Particularly under the overloaded condition in the cluster server, the simulation probes that the performance of the proposed technique is better two times than the Generalized Interval Caching based technique.

Current Characteristics of a Flow Injection Type Enzyme-Sensor as the Variables of a Buffer Velocity, an Enzyme-Substrate Reaction and an Electrode for the Control of a Fermentation Process (완충용액유속, 효소.기질 반응 및 전극봉 요인에 따른 발효공정 제어용 흐름주입식 효소센서의 전류값 특성)

  • The electric current of a flow injection type enzyme-sensor was measured to confirm the stable operating conditions of the sensor. The current of the sensor was decreased as the buffer solution velocity increased. Under the limitation of the cycle time to be below 10 minutes, the effective ranges of the buffer solution velocity were suggested $0.10{\sim}0.26$, $0.12{\sim}0.24$, $0.1{\sim}0.25$ and $0.05{\sim}0.10\;cm/s$ of 1.0, 1.4, 2.4 and 3.4 mm of the electrode diameters, respectively. As the reaction time of the enzyme and the substrate was increased, the current was decreased because of the dilution between the sample and buffer solution. Therefore, it could be recommended that the reaction time was able to be selected as shortly as possible in consideration of the total cycle time. As the result of the experiments using a different volume ratio of the enzyme to substrate, it was concluded that the substrate had to be mixed with the same amount of the enzyme. The current have increased remarkably in proportion to the electrode diameter under 0.1 cm/s of the buffer solution velocity but there was no difference over 0.1 cm/s of the buffer solution velocity. The cross type arrangement of the electrode was highly suggested for application and machining of the sensor.

Influence of Growth Temperature for Active Layer and Buffer Layer Thickness on ZnO Nanocrystalline Thin Films Synthesized Via PA-MBE

  • Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanocrystalline thin films on various growth temperatures for active layer and different buffer layer thickness were grown by plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy (PA-MBE) on Si substrates. The ZnO active layer were grown with various growth temperature from 500 to $800^{\circ}C$ and the ZnO buffer layer were grown for different time from 5 to 40 minutes. To investigate the structural and optical properties of the ZnO thin films, scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffractometer (XRD), and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy were used, respectively. In the SEM images, the ZnO thin films have high densification of grains and good roughness and uniformity at $800^{\circ}C$ for active layer growth temperature and 20 minutes for buffer layer growth time, respectively. The PL spectra of ZnO buffer layers and active layers display sharp near band edge (NBE) emissions in UV range and broad deep level emissions (DLE) in visible range. The intensity of NBE peaks for the ZnO thin films significantly increase with increase in the active layer growth temperature. In addition, the NBE peak at 20 minutes for buffer layer growth time has the largest emission intensity and the intensity of DLE peaks decrease with increase in the growth time.

High Speed Non-Inverting SOI Buffer Circuit by Adopting Dynamic Threshold Control (동적 문턱전압 제어 기법을 이용한 고속 비반전 SOI 버퍼 회로)

  • We have proposed a new non-inverting SOI buffer circuit for the high speed operation at low supply voltage. The body biases of main MOS devices in the proposed circuit are controlled dynamically via subsidiary MOS device connected efficiently to the body terminal. We showed current derivability of the body controlled devices obtained by device simulation and compared with that of conventional SOI devices. Delay time characteristics of the buffer circuit were analyzed by SPICE simulation and compared with those of conventional SOI CMOS buffer circuits. Delay time reduction of the SOI buffer over conventional SOI CMOS buffer with same area is about 36 % at $V_{S}$=1.2 V and $C_{L}$=2 pF. pF.

  • The rolling stock is composed of several cars. In order to operate in combination, it is necessary to connect the device, called coupler, between the rolling stocks. When the collision occurs between cars, couplers should be able to absorb the shock. Urban railway has used only rubber absorbers. But recently, the hydraulic buffer has been considered in general railway. In order to know the performance of the buffer it should be conducted to experiments. But whenever this combination change, we should experiments to know a lot of the dynamic behavior of each coupler. These experiments are generally replaced by the simulation, since a lot of time and cost consuming. The quasi-static map of hydraulic buffer obtained by the experiments is required for the simulation. However, the experiments for obtaining such a quasi-static map is costly and time consuming. In this paper, it proposes a method for deriving the quasi-static map of hydraulic buffer from the theoretical model.

An Effective Method to Manage the Transmitter's Buffer in the Data Link Layer of the PCI Express (PCI 익스프레스의 데이터 연결 계층에서 송신단 버퍼 관리를 위한 효과적인 방법)

  • The data link layer of the PCI Express must have the transmitting buffer that contains the packets to transmit next time. Also it must have the retry buffer that contains the packets which were already transmitted but have not been acknowledged by the corresponding target device. In the separated buffer architecture, the data link layer can not transmit the packets in the transmitting buffer if the reiry buffer space is not enough. In this paper, we propose an efficient buffer architecture which merges the transmitting buffer and the retry buffer to a single buffer. Since the proposed buffer can dynamically assign the size of the transmitting buffer and the retry buffer, it can improve the buffer usage efficiency and the data transfer efficiency. The simulation result shows that the proposed buffer has the higher data transfer efficiency than the separated buffer architecture about 39% when the total buffer size is 8K byte.
