  • In this study, to overcome the limitation of material application as the surface layer of bridge decks (asphalt concrete, concrete), a newly developed waterproof sheet is proposed to be usable for both asphalt concrete and concrete. Subsequent tensile bond strength was tested, and the test results showed that the tensile bond strengths were similar to depending on the type of the surface layer material for bridge decks, confirming the applicability of the proposed material.

  • This study discusses the development of asphalt based waterproofing sheet applied on the blind side of the concrete substrate. The inorganic coating membrane is applied on top of the waterproofing sheet surface for protection, and adhesive bond to the concrete substrate surface is secured via hydration reaction the cement. The study reveals the experimental results of the overlap section tensile strength to observe the effects of the adhesion strength of this material.

  • In the case of the railway bridge, there are following the progress of works after the drainage method of a bridge surface - vibration proof rubber establishment, track gravel construction and rail construction etc. But these works are not enforced consecutively by the execution and economical reason. This is the reason of the long period of exposure after drainage execution. In many case, from the deterioration phenomenon by long term exposure of surface, there are a lot of occasions that do not keep primitive penetration depth waterproof primitive time. It is the most important that select the drainage method that have durability - it is not fallen in long-term exposure of surface. The major objective of this study is to deduce objective analysis result through examination about the Deterioration Restraining Agent method and to master KNOW-HOW of DRA drainage method. Through the study, minimize economical damage by frequent repair and reinforcement and present the reasonable standard of judgement fot drainage method of construction.

Hardening State and Basic Properties Changes According to the Mixture Ratio of MMA Resin Used as a Waterproofing Coating Material in Concrete Bridges (콘크리트 교면용 도막방수재로 사용되는 MMA 수지의 배합비율에 따른 경화상태 및 기본 물성에 관한 연구)

  • Waterproof layers are installed in civil engineering structures and bridge construction is commonly finished by applying a layer of regular or asphalt concrete above the waterproof layer. However, asphalt materials are susceptible to melting at high temperature due to its superior temperature sensitivity, and this causes the waterproofing material to melt due to the high temperature of the asphalt concrete, thereby increasing the defect occurrence rate due to the thickness reduction. In this study, tensile strength and elongation of hard and soft type of MMA(Methyl Methacrylate) applied to bridges were compared in accordance to standard performance criteria based on different mixture ratios. Results of comparative testing showed that hard MMA resin can display a satisfactory tensile strength, and soft MMA resin displays satisfactory elongation properties, but as the two resin types are separately used, neither types are able to satisfy the standard requirements outlined in KS F 4932. When the amount of the powder exceeds 56.25% of the total amount, voids are generated on the surface after curing and self leveling was impossible and a heterogeneous surface is formed. Furthermore, when the hard resin: soft resin: powder mixture ratio was set to 15g: 85g: 150g. the tensile strength was $1.5N/mm^2$ and the elongation percentage was 133% which satisfy the tensile performance of KS F 4932.

A Study on Performance Evaluation of New Asphalt Surface Reinforcement Method (ASRM) for Preventive Maintenance (예방적 유지보수를 위한 아스팔트 표면강화공법의 실내 성능 평가)

  • The new asphalt surface reinforcement method (ASRM) is one of the preventive maintenance methods in asphalt concrete pavements. The adhesion performance of new ASRM satisfied the standard of non-slip pavement and bridge waterproofing materials. As a results of durability tests (as wheel load, rolling bottle and UV resistance test), the new ASRM showed sufficient resistance to traffic and environmental loads. The waterproof and chemical resistance tests of new ASRM were conducted to evaluate whether the pavement could be protected from water and chemicals and the performances of new ASRM were satisfactory. Furthermore, the new ASRM demonstrated some rejuvenation effects due to its toughness increases in recycled asphalt concrete mixture by 5% compared to the conventional hot mix asphalt mixture using reclaimed asphalt pavement. In conclusion, the new ASRM was evaluated to protect the asphalt concrete pavement and increase the lifetime.
