  • Bridges crack and become damaged due to age and external factors such as earthquakes, lack of maintenance, and weather conditions. With the number of aging bridge on the rise, lack of maintenance can lead to a decrease in safety, resulting in structural defects and collapse. To prevent these problems and reduce maintenance costs, a system that can monitor the condition of bridge and respond quickly is needed. To this end, existing research has proposed artificial intelligence model that use sensor data to identify the location and extent of cracks. However, existing research does not use data from actual bridge to determine the performance of the model, but rather creates the shape of the bridge through simulation to acquire data and use it for training, which does not reflect the actual bridge environment. In this paper, we propose a bridge safety determination edge AI model that detects bridge abnormalities based on artificial intelligence by utilizing acceleration data from bridge occurring in the field. To this end, we newly defined filtering rules for extracting valid data from acceleration data and constructed a model to apply them. We also evaluated the performance of the proposed bridge safety determination edge AI model based on data collected in the field. The results showed that the F1-Score was up to 0.9565, confirming that it is possible to determine safety using data from real bridge, and that rules that generate similar data patterns to real impact data perform better.

  • Long continuous bridge deck can become contracted considerably as temperature drops, which can lead to a large expansion of sleeper span at the end of it. Since this huge sleeper span then can cause problems both with safety of train operation and structural stability of tracks, it is necessary to take the issue into consideration systematically in the designing process of the bridge. In this paper, an evaluation process through the analysis of train-track interaction was presented which can basically review the effects of the expansion of sleeper span at the end of long continuous bridge deck on the safety of the train and the structural stability of the track. The analyses of the interaction between the light rail train and tracks were carried out targeting the sleeper span as a main parameter. The safety of train operation and structural stability of tracks in a light rail system due to the expansion of the sleeper span were evaluated by comparing the numerical results with the related criteria.

  • Recently the interest in the safety assessment of civil infrastructures has increased. As bridge structures become large-scale, it is necessary to monitor and maintain the safety of large bridges, which requires smart systems that can make long-term monitoring a reality . Civil engineers have applied monitoring systems to several bridges, such as the New Haeng-Ju Bridge and Riverside Urban Highway Bridge, but these applications have some problems with the sensors for long-term measurement, setup techniques for the bridge monitoring system and the assessment of measured data. In the present study, an optical fiber sensor smart system was tested and confirmed in laboratory tests on the concrete members. By Attaching optical fiber sensors to the structural parts of the Sung-San Bridge, the bridge load test was measured. These smart concrete structure systems can be applied to bridges and the load capacity of the bridge can assessed.

  • A correctly designed bridge offers improved operational safety in terms of increased vigilance, flexibility of operation, precision of control and operator's situational awareness. According1y to design human centered bridge, the consideration shall be given to the man-machine interface, location and interrelation of workstation, configuration of console, windows. field of vision and bridge working environment. The state-of-the-art suits for one-man operation by integration of conning information and central information presentation. Further, it is desirable to enable two man ship operation for emergency operations, training purposes and redundancy. In this point of view, this thesis would like to design a conceptual bridge.

  • This study is peformed to propose the slab deck for the composite bridge with two girders. Considering the characteristics of the long span and the construction conditions in korea, a cast-in-place PSC deck was proposed for that bridge. To examine structural behaviors and safety of the proposed PSC deck, two real scale partitions of deck(12m$\times$3.2m) were tested under the fatigue loading. In the test, the failure mode and behaviors of each specimen, and the ultimate load carrying capacity of the two-girder-bridge deck were identified. Generally, the failure of concrete bridge deck is caused by the local punching shear stress resulting from the moving wheel load. Even though its ultimate flexural capacity is sufficiently larger than the demand, it could be failed by the punching shear fatigue. Therefore, the fatigue safety of the proposed PSC deck should be checked.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the assessment of the risk index by the AHP method effective in the bridge construction. We compared that by the AHP method with the risk index by the accident analysis in the bridge construction. This method results in the useful tool deciding the assessment of the risk index according to work type in the bridge construction.

  • Nowadays in order to estimate safety diagnosis of bridge, a lot of data like static and dynamic displacement, accelerometer, wind velocity and so on are demanded. When it comes to measure these data, cabled sensor is essential equipment. But cabled sensors have also inefficient factors. From this point of view, considering practical aspects of using these expensive equipments which have been used to examine safety diagnosis, measuring by cabled sensors is restrictive in some respect. Recently to improve theses problems, Wireless sensor system was introduced. But this system can't perform intelligent reaction because database of this system is just based on internet. In this paper, the intelligent bridge safety management model which can be installed easily, measured at all times and dealing intelligently with various situations is developed to improve these problems.

  • Seismic response control method of the bridge structures with semi-active control device, i.e., magneto-rheological (MR) damper, is studied in this paper. Design of various kinds of clipped optimal controller and fuzzy controller are suggested as a semi-active control algorithm. For determining the control force of MR damper, clipped optimal control method adopts bi-state approach, but the fuzzy control method continuously quantifies input currents through fuzzy inference mechanism to finely modulate the damper force. To investigate the performances of the suggested control techniques, numerical simulations of a multi-span continuous bridge system subjected to various earthquakes are performed, and their performances are compared with each other. From the comparison of results, it is shown that the fuzzy control system can provide well-balanced control force between girder and pier in the view point of structural safety and stability and be quite effective in reducing both girder and pier displacements over the existing control method.

  • This paper aims to propose a method that helps maintenance engineers to evaluate the damage states of bridge systems by using a Fuzzy Fault Tree Analysis(FFTA). It may be stated that Fuzzy Fault Tree Analysis may be may useful for the systematic md rational condition and safety assessment for real bridge systems problems because the approach is able to effectively deal with all the related bridge system damages in terms of the linguistic variables that incorporate systematically experts experiences and subjective judgement.
