Thirty five bivoltine breeds were acclimatized under controlled condition for three years during two seasons to evaluate their efficiency in Seri industry of tropical region. Out of thirty five ten breeds had been short listed based on ranking for individual trait. Three breeds out of those ten selected breeds viz. SK6, NB18 and B.Con.4 ranked top in respect of overall performance. The ten breeds based on average Evaluation Index value > 50 considering twelve economically important traits are the resource material for future course of breeding program in West Bengal.

It is well established fact that under tropical condition, unlike polyvoltines, bivoltines are more vulnerable to various stresses i.e. hot climatic conditions of tropics, poor leaf quality and improper management during summer which are not conducive for bivoltine rearing. Therefore, attempt has been made in this study to develop promising bivoltine breeds tolerant to high temperature and high humidity conditions of the tropics. In the present study, by utilizing temperature tolerant breeds six breeding lines were made and at every generation the 5th instar larvae were exposed to high temperature and high humidity and the survived ones were back crossed with the breeds moderately tolerant to diseases were made to improve the quantitative traits. From F6 generations, alternate rearing in normal temperature and high temperature were conducted. At the end of F12 generation, it was possible to isolate three dumbbell breeds viz., HH8, HH10 and HH12 with improvement in quantitative traits. The methodologies followed for the development are discussed.
Heat stress is a major challenge to animal production in tropical and subtropical climates. Rabbits suffer from heat stress more than farm animals because they have few sweat glands, and their bodies are covered with thick fur. Intensive farming relies on antibiotics as antimicrobials or growth promoters to increase animals' productivity and health. However, the European Union and many countries have banned or restricted the use of antibiotics in animal feed for human health concerns. Several studies have found that replacing antibiotics in rabbit feed with natural plants or feed additives increases productivity and improves immune capacity, especially under heat stress conditions. Growth performance, immune response, gut microflora, and carcass yield may be increased in rabbits fed a diet supplemented with some natural plants and/or propolis. In this review article, we discuss and summarize the effects of some herbs and plant extracts as alternative feed additives on rabbit productivity, especially for those raised under hot ambient temperatures.

Since brought into from the economic life of nomads, the felt, the target of this study, has been developed in various ways of giving the functions of class symbol as well of protection against the cold and of ornamentation. Therefore, the study on how the felt was developed in Joseon Dynasty and how different culture from nomadic tribes it formed is significant in comprehensively under,;landing the economic, social and natural environmental factors in the Dynasty. The felt named "Jeon" has been constantly appearing in Korea from the ancient time, but it was not produced actively in the early part of Joseon Dynasty. That's why it was not a climatic condition suitable for sheep-breeding, and the government managed sheep-breeding but it aimed primarily at not producing clothing materials but having memorial ceremonies. Since sheep-breeding was not widely spreaded, production of Jeon was limited and some part was imported from China, so it was one of rare valuable goods. Therefore, the felt of wools named "Yangmojeon", the colored felt named "Chaejeon", etc. were used as liking items in the high-class society, and their materials and components were a little different depending on the official post. On the other hand, people in the low-class society used to wear the felt hats made of cattle feathers and miscellaneous fur, named "Jeonlip" and "Beougeoji". Since the middle of Joseon Dynasty, use of the felt was divided into two groups according to the users and the function, along with successful spreading of cotton and development of market economy. The function of Jeon to protect against the cold was replaced by cotton, but the felt hats of Beongeoji, Jeonlip, etc. were worn by common people continuously. As seen above, it is considered that the felt culture in Joseon Dynasty was formed very differently from the nomadic culture, because of its historical and sociocultural characteristics, and it had unique developing progress among all available fabrics.

Lilium ledebourii Bioss is a wild species of Lilium, which grows naturally in some provinces of Iran. Previous studies on Lilium tissue culture have been linked to direct regeneration and a few studies have been conducted on indirect regeneration, which has been studied under bright conditions. In this study, for the first time in the world, all the stages of indirect regeneration (callus induction, shoot and root induction) have been studied under dark conditions. Callus formation and the regeneration levels of L. Ledebourii Bioss were examined for three replicates in an MS (Murashige and Skoog) medium with different hormonal compositions and by using a factorial experiment in the framework of a completely random plan. For callus initiation, 2,4-D and kinetin hormones were used in five and four levels, respectively, as auxin and cytokinin. Results showed that the highest percentage of the callus was found in $3{\mu}M$ of 2,4-D and $0.5{\mu}M$ of kinetin. In terms of callus wet weight, the highest amount was found in $3{\mu}M$ of 2,4-D and $0.5{\mu}M$ of kinetin. In addition, in terms of diameter, the highest amount was found in $3{\mu}M$ of 2,4-D, and $0.5{\mu}M$ of kinetin. In summary, the 2,4-D hormone had a major impact on the percentage of regeneration increase so that the best response was related to the composition of $3{\mu}M$ of 2,4-D, and $0.1{\mu}M$ of kinetin. This study contended that auxin and cytokinin can induce long shoots and roots through cell elongation in dark condition.

A deletion analysis of the Oryza sativa dihydroflavonol reductase (DFR) promoter defined a 25 bp region (-386 to -362) sufficient to confer pericarp-specific expression of ${\beta}$ -glucuronidase(GUS) reporter gene in transgenic rice. Site-specific mutagenesis of these conserved sequences and subsequent expression analysis in calli which transiently expressed the mutated promoter::GUS gene showed that both bHLH (-386 to -381) and Myb (-368 to -362) binding sites in the DEL3 (-440 to 70) promoter were necessary for complete expression of the GUS gene including the tissue-specific expression of DFR::GUS gene. The GUS gene was expressed well in the mutated Myb (-368 to -362) binding site, but not as strong as in normal condition, implying that the Myb is also necessary to express GUS gene fully. Also, we found the non-epistatic relation between Rc and DFR. There were no changes of expression patterns GUS under the Rc and rc genotypes. Thus, DFR expression might be independent of the presence of functional Rc gene and suggested that Rc and Rd (DFR) share the same pathway controlling the regulation of flavonoid synthesis but not a direct positive transcriptional regulator of DFR gene.

This study conducted observations at 72 traffic lights and road signs in Sejong-si, Korea from March to June 2019 in order to analyze nest-site, nest-site characteristics and feeding behavior in Tree sparrow (Passeer montanus) in urban. Feeding behavior during breeding season in 2019 was investigated at 10 Town representing traffic facilities installed on the road located in the center of the city and 10 Riverside Geumgang river's riverside road. We fitted both general linear model and regression model to our field data and estimated the spatial variation of initial date of the first feeding (i.e., being date of breeding) and the total number of caterpillar fed by parents per hour. Our results showed that the frequency of nest building on artificial structures, such as traffic lights, was about 26% higher and about 8 days earlier in the riverside. In particular, the first feeding was significantly faster when the nearest distance between nest to green field as foraging site was shorter whereas there was no significant effect of the number of nest within 50 meters on the first feeding. Number of caterpillars fed by parents was higher in the Riverside than in the Urban, and especially the number in the second brood was sharply decreased in the Urban. As we estimated average amount of caterpillars per hour to 446 traffic safety facilities in Sejong-si, it was estimated that Tree sparrows fed 18,742.8 caterpillars per hour during the breeding season. In this study, we showed that characteristics of nests built in artificial structures and feeding behavior in order to analyze effects of environmental condition in urban on life-history traits during the breeding season. Finally, we discussed the conservation of birds in urban and pest control effects.

Rice production and quality could be changed by temperature condition. Extremely high temperature event have been occurred more frequently for global warming. To increase rice quality against to global warming, breeding of heat tolerance rice cultivar is needed. Ilmi which is the one of Korean leading rice cultivar shows heat stress resistant character during ripening stage. Yield and quality (brown and milled rice) of Ilmi did not show significant different under high temperature condition compared to control condition. However, the main physiological characters for heat resistance of Ilmi have been not investigated yet. Therefore we try to investigate the heat tolerance characters of Ilmi. Two rice cultivars, Ilmi and Ilpum-which is heat susceptible rice cultivar, were cultivated under natural condition in wagnor pot until heading was appeared. After checking heading date, each material was cultivated under different temperature condition, heat($32/22^{\circ}C$) and control($26/16^{\circ}C$) condition. Anti-oxidant enzyme activity was checked during ripening stage in each material. Catalase and ascorbic peroxidase activity of leaf under heat stress condition were higher in Ilmi than Ilpum especially early ripening stage. Analyzing of stress resistance using $H_2O_2$, the flag leaf of Ilmi showed more green color than Ilpum with higher chlorophyll content than those of Ilpum. We also checked the amount of $H_2O_2$ content in young leaf of each material by treating high temperature. $H_2O_2$ content in each material was increased according to treatment time. However $H_2O_2$ content of young leaf in Ilmi was less than those in Ilpum. Also catalase and ascorbic peroxidase activity in leaf increased much faster in Ilmi than Ilpum. With those data, we confirmed that heat stress resistance of Ilmi is due to the higher anti-oxidant activity against to stress condition. We will investigate the heat tolerance characters of Ilmi more in further study to enhance the breeding effect of heat stress tolerance rice.
We examined the correlations between lactation curve shape, including persistency and changes in body condition score (BCS) during early-stage (0 to 30 days in milk (DIM)), nadir-stage (31 to 90 DIM), and late-stage (91 to 240 DIM) lactation in 191 first-lactation cows. Data used were first-parity BCS records, scored twice every month after calving, and daily milk yields. Individual lactation curves were depicted by the Wilmink function. Lactation persistency was defined as the difference in estimated milk yields between 240 DIM and 60 DIM. Changes in BCSs in the early and late stages were defined as linear regression coefficients. There were no significant correlations between traits for lactation curve shape and change in BCS in early-stage lactation. Peak yield and total milk yield were negatively correlated with BCSs in nadir- and late-stage lactation and with BCS change in late-stage lactation, suggesting that cows with high lactation yields had low body reserves and health status in mid- to late lactation and had delayed recovery of body reserves. Lactation persistency was positively correlated with change in BCS in late-stage lactation, suggesting that cows with high lactation persistency tended to be healthy and to recover their body reserves well in late lactation.
The study was conducted to investigate the effect of weed interference and starter fertilizer on subsequent soybean seed quality at the Agricultural Research Farm and Laboratory of Razi University, Kermanshah, Iran. Two factorial experiment was laid-outon a randomized complete block design with four replications. First factor was starter fertilizer levels (0 and 25 kg $ha^{-1}$) applied in the forms of monoammonium phosphate, the second factor was different weed interference periods consisted of five initial weed-free periods (in which, plots were kept free of weeds for 0, 15, 30, 45 and 60 days after crop emergence (DAE) and then weeds were allowed to grow until harvest) and five initial weed-infested periods (in which, weeds were allowed to grow for 0, 15, 30, 45 and 60DAE, after which the plots were kept free of weeds until harvest). Full season weedy condition reduced 100-seed weight, seed germination percentage and seedling dry weight by 25.9, 13.3 and 22.5%, respectively and increased mean germination time and seed electrical conductivity by 55.8 and 24.3%, respectively as compared with full season weed-free control. However, the traits under study were not significantly influenced when field was kept free of weeds for at least 45 DAE (R1) or weedy condition was continued for less than 30 DAE (V8). There was a significant and negative correlation between weed biomass and seed weight (r = -0.93), so that when weed free condition was less than 45 DAE or weed infested period was continued for at least 30 DAE, soybean plants produced wrinkled and underdeveloped seeds with lower weights and qualities. Moreover, soybean seed quality reduction due to weed interference was more evident when starter fertilizer was applied and weeds interfered with soybean from the beginning of the growing season. Information from the present study is beneficial in soybean seed production systems and where farmers use the harvested seeds for the following planting.
