Intravenous catheterization is a common procedure in human and veterinary medicine. Occasionally, a catheter might break within the blood vessel, and the fragment may cause embolization, infections, or other severe complications, and therefore must be removed promptly. For a successful and low-risk removal, the fragment should be localized accurately; however, ultrasound may be challenging to perform on small dogs due to inadequate probes. We report the case of a 2-year-old, 2.6 kg, intact female toy poodle that presented to the veterinary medical center owing to a recent onion intake; the owner requested to induce emesis. A 24 gauge peripheral intravenous catheter was inserted into the cephalic vein prior to the emetic injection. When the clinician removed the catheter, a device breakage was observed. A tourniquet was applied immediately proximal to the elbow. Ultrasonography was performed with a high-frequency small-footprint linear array transducer, also called a hockey-stick probe, to localize the fragment. An additional ultrasound was performed before surgery to confirm the location of the catheter piece, which migrated 5 cm proximally. Afterward, a surgical intervention allowed us to retrieve the fragment. This report highlights the effectiveness of a hockey-stick probe to determine the location of a catheter fragment in small breed dogs.
Fire, being primarily a natural phenomenon, is impossible to control, although it is feasible to map the forest fire risk zone, minimizing the frequency of fires. The spread of a fire starting in any stand in a forest can be predicted, given the burning conditions. The natural cover of the land and the safety of the population may be threatened by the spread of forest fires; thus, the prevention of fire damage requires early discovery. Satellite data and geographic information system (GIS) can be used effectively to combine different forest-fire-causing factors for mapping the forest fire risk zone. This study mainly focuses on mapping forest fire risk in the Madikhola watershed. The primary causes of forest fires appear to be human negligence, uncontrolled fire in nearby forests and agricultural regions, and fire for pastoral purposes which were used to evaluate and assign risk values to the mapping process. The majority of fires, according to MODIS events, occurred from December to April, with March recording the highest occurrences. The Risk Zonation Map, which was prepared using LULC, Forest Type, Slope, Aspect, Elevation, Road Proximity, and Proximity to Water Bodies, showed that a High Fire Risk Zone comprised 29% of the Total Watershed Area, followed by a Moderate Risk Zone, covering 37% of the total area. The derived map products are helpful to local forest managers to minimize fire risks within the forests and take proper responses when fires break out. This study further recommends including the fuel factor and other fire-contributing factors to derive a higher resolution of the fire risk map.
Purpose: This study aims to present practical data available for the effective health management and improvement for the dental technicians by exploring the interrelationships between general characteristics of dental technicians and seven health related habits like drinking, smoking, breakfast, and snacks among the others(alameda 7). Methods: Out of the random selection of the registered dental offices of Dental Technicians Association of Korea, 2,000 working dental technicians were asked to fill out the questionnaire from January 19 to April 30, 2009. We collected the 1,502 sheets of the questionnaire and took frequency analysis, crosstabulation, t-test, and analysis of variance using SPSS Win 12.0 program. Results: Among the seven health related habits, 54.9% of the subject answered 'never do exercise' in the question of exercise habits, which is the most problematic of all. Hours of sleep and BMI were found to be quite low. Of the general characteristics, sex proved statistically significant to all the seven habits(p<.001). Marital status, job title, and health check-up showed statistical significance in six items among the seven habits. Age, monthly income, job position showed statistical meanings in five items among the seven habits. The frequency of break showed statistical significance in four items among the seven habits. Working environment showed statistical significance only in the item of hours of sleep among the seven habits(p<.05). Conclusion: This study proved that it is vital to educate the dental technicians to learn the right habits for enhancing their health and quality of life and motivate them to practice those habits.

A new device injecting secondary fuel behind flameholder was invented and tested in order to reduce low frequency combustion instability of combustor using V-gutter flameholder. Specially designed combustion device could make large combustion instability up to 180 dB successfully, and newly invented device made a success to reduce 110~120Hz low frequency pressure pulsation up to 84%. It was found that the fuel flow rate of secondary fuel supplying behind flameholder was the only parameter which dominates reduction of instability. It is considered that stabilized flame with sufficient secondary fuel can lead to break the connection between combustion system and acoustic system due to independence of flame from fluctuation of main fuel resulted from synchronization with acoustic wave.

To investigate how the beverage consumption of middle school students are different in some respects; favorite kinds, drinking time and so on. 579 middle school students in Jeonju were participated in this study. This study shows the frequency of drinking beverage and the correlation between the frequency and the various factors to have effects on the frequency. The students usually drink water 8.55 times, milk or yogurt 3.01 times, sport beverage 2.13 times, soft drink 1.93 times, and fruit and vegetable juice 1.85 times for one week. The boy students prefer more soft or sport drink to the girl students. However the drinking of other beverages such as water, milk, juice, traditional ones don't have any meaning-ful differences between the boys and the girls. The students drink water mostly when they have meals. And the second consuming beverage is milk at table. It explains the students who drink more milk than water with bread. There is a big difference according to their excercise frequency. The students who excercise regularly or excercise over 3 hours drink more soft or sport drink and milk or yogurt than the students who exercise less than 1 hour. The beverages are firstly needed during the exercise because they sweat. And the second beverage time is when they have snacks and when they take a break. It should be suggested that nutrition education targeted to middle school students and their parents should encourage limited consumption of soft drinks. Therefore, policies that limit students' access to soft drinks at schools should be promoted.

After the recent COVID-19 outbreak, more and more people are paying attention to health care. Many people feel uncomfortable in life due to muscle pain after sports or exercise as a hobby and often take a break from exercise. After exercising for a long time or exercising excessively, pain appears throughout the body within 24 to 48 hours after exercise. This pain is called delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). In this study, the effectiveness of the pain relief of delayed onset myalgia was verified by using a high-frequency pain therapy device that generates deep heat. EMG was measured before and after pain treatment at ordinary times, RMS values were obtained through analysis, statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS program, and it was judged to be statistically significant. In addition, statistical analysis of the RMS value between normal and after pain treatment was conducted to confirm that there was no significance, and to confirm how much it returned to normal after pain treatment. In addition, since the standards for pain are different for each person even if the size of the same pain is the same, the NRS questionnaire for the size of pain was conducted, and the size of pain felt by the subjects was analyzed using the SPSS program and statistical significance was obtained. Therefore, as a result of this study, the high-frequency pain therapy device generated deep heat in the pain area to raise the temperature, and expanded the arteries and capillaries to increase blood flow, thereby increasing blood circulation and metabolism, and alleviating the pain of delayed onset muscle pain.

The gas hold-up has a strong relationship with the size distribution and rising velocities of bubbles in a bubble column. Therefore, many previous researchers have studied on the hydrodynamics focusing on the bubble size variation in bubble column. In this study, the bubble behavior was influenced by partitioning porous plates installed at a certain height in a trayed bubble column. The gas hold-up was increased in non-sparging region (H/D > 5) as well as sparging region. We identified the effect of the partitioning porous plate using three trayed bubble columns with different reactor geometries. Furthermore, the bubble break-up frequency and size distribution were observed before and after individual bubbles penetrated through the plate. The arrangement of the plates was also investigated using a 0.15-m-in-diameter bubble column. Based on the result, we applied this design concept to a 0.36-m-in-diameter, 22 m tall trayed bubble column and identified the effect of the partitioning porous plate on the gas hold-up increase.
Purpose: The present study was aimed to investigate the effect of tear volume on a change of axial rotation according to wearing time of toric soft contact lens and gaze directions. Method: Toric soft contact lenses with double thin zone design applied on 62 eyes. Then, changes in non invasive tear film break-up time and the rotational direction/amount of lens when changing gaze direction were respectively measured after 15 minutes and 6 hours of lens wear. Results: Lens rotation to temporal direction was more found when changing gaze direction after lens wear. However, its rotation was varied according to wearing time and the subjects' tear volume. Furthermore, the frequency of lens rotation to temporal direction was higher in dry eyes compared with normal eyes at nearly all gaze directions after 15 minutes and 6 hour of lens wear. The rotational amount of lens was generally greater in dry eyes after 15 minutes of lens wear. However, its difference between normal eyes and dry eyes was not great after 6 hours of lens wear. Conclusion: The present study revealed that axial rotation of toric soft contact lens was varied according to the wearer's tear volume and lens rotational patterns at the initial, and extending periods of lens wear were different. The change in rotational pattern of toric soft contact lens from these results means the possibility of visual change after extending lens wear, and the identification of its correlation with tear volume suggests the necessity of considering factors for choosing appropriate toric soft contact lens.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of continuing work on VDT(video display terminal). Therefore, we examined visual fatigue by a questionnaire and measured frequency of blinking, tear film break-up time(BUT), height of palpebral fissure, visual acuity, refraction with retinoscopy and accommodation before and after two hour long VDT work. For the ocular symptoms, the greatest number was tired eyes accounting for 34%. In the visual symptoms, blurred vision was the highest rate of 83% and in case of systemic symptoms, shoulder pain was 38% marked top ranking but other symptoms were also distributed similar rate. The frequency of blinking during VDT work decreased significantly comparing with the one at rest. The average frequency of blinking is 8/min during VDT work and 22/min at rest. The BUT measured immediately after VDT work decreased much more than in the resting state. The average BUT was 7sec immediately after VDT work and 12sec at rest. The height of palpebral fissure during VDT work increased significantly comparing with the value at rest. The average height of palpebral fissure was 7.69mm at rest and 9.04mm during VDT work. The average visual acuity decreased almost 9.5% from 0.63 to 0.57, but refraction with retinoscopy increased about 0.28D to the direction of myopic shift. The amplitude of accommodation decreased approximately 1.49D from 7.98D to 6.49D and this resulted from the prolongation of near point of accommodation. Near point of convergence also was prolongated from 9.45cm to 10.30cm after VDT work.
A study on the larval fish assemblage around the front area was conducted in the Korea Strait in August, 1993. The front was found in the shelf break located in $35{\sim}36^{\circ}N$. A total of 125 species were found in the study area. Of these Engraulis japonicus was the most dominant species comprising 84.3% of the total fish larvae collected and followed by Maurolicus muelleri accounting for 7.7%. Gobiidae, Callionymidae and Pomacentridae showed higher frequency of occurrence. These five species can be divided into three groups. First group was comprised in the larval fish species such as E. japonicus and Callionymidae which were found in the whole study area. The second group was comprised of Gobiidae and Pomacentridae which were found in the warm area located in the southern part of the front area. The other species was M. muelleri found in the cold area located in the northern part of the front area including the front area. The assemblage, geological distribution and body length composition of the fish larvae in the Korea Strait would be mainly determined by the spawning ecology of the fishes, and the geological distribution and structure of the front which is formed in the ocean boundary between the Tsushima Current and the East Sea Cold Water.
