  • Great tit (Parus major) is a bioindicator species that can measure environmental changes in urban ecosystems and plays an important role in maintaining health as a representative insectivorous bird. Researchers have utilized artificial nest box surveys to understand the reproductive ecology of the Paridae family of birds, including the Great tits, but it is difficult to conduct a macroscopic study due to spatial and temporal limitations. This study designed and applied a citizen-participatory monitoring of artificial nest boxes project to transcend the limitations of expert-centered monitoring methods. The Suwon Front Yard Bird Monitoring Team installed artificial nest boxes in green spaces in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province and observed the reproductive ecology of the Paridae family through the participation of voluntary citizen surveyors. Participants were recruited through an online survey from February 9 to February 22, 2021, and they directly performed from installation to observation of artificial next boxes from February 23 to August 31, 2021. Online education was provided to the volunteers for the entire monitoring process to lower the entry barrier for non-expert citizen surveyors and collect consistent data, and observation records were collected through a mobile app. A total of 98 citizen surveyors participated in the citizen-participatory monitoring of artificial nest boxes project, and 175 (84.95%) of the 256 distributed artificial nest boxes were installed in green spaces in Suwon City. Among the installed artificial nest boxes, the results of the citizen science project were confirmed for 173 (83.98%), excluding two boxes with position coordinate generation errors. A total of 987 artificial nest box observation records were collected from citizen surveyors, with a minimum of one time, a maximum of 26 times, and an average of 5.71±4.37 times. The number of observations of artificial birdhouses per month was 70 times (7.09%) in February, 444 times (44.98%) in March, 284 times (28.77%) in April, 133 times (13.48%) in May, 46 times (4.66%) in June, 6 times (0.61%) in July, and 4 times (0.41%) in August. Birds using the artificial nest boxes were observed in 57 (32.95%) of the 173 installed artificial nest boxes, and they included Great tit (Parus major) using 12 boxes (21.05%), Varied Tit (Parus varius) using 7 boxes (12.28%), and unidentified birds using 38 boxes (66.67%). This study is the first to consider citizen participation in the monitoring of artificial nest boxes, a survey method for the reproductive ecology of the Paridae family, including Great tits, and it can be utilized as basic data for the design of ecological monitoring combined with citizen science in the future.

  • A substitution box (S-box) plays a central role in cryptographic algorithms. In this paper, an efficient method for designing S-boxes based on chaotic maps is proposed. The proposed method is based on the mixing property of piecewise linear chaotic maps. The S-box so constructed has very low differential and linear approximation probabilities. The proposed S-box is more secure against differential and linear cryptanalysis compared to recently proposed chaotic S-boxes.

  • Two fuzzy controllers are coordinated to control a cartpole such that the pole is balanced as well as the cart is brought back to the track origin. The coordination is due to the BOXES scheme that is established through the evaluation of the outcomes of the control action by one of the fuzzy controllers. It is found that the control scheme is good at selecting proper fuzzy controller so that the pole is balanced fast while the cart moves back to the track origin steadily.

  • Experiments were held in Egypt to test a new Package of practices for commercial cocoon production, including adding secondary macro and micronutrients to the mulberry garden, disease free rearing regime, low temperature rearing in young instars and natural mounting fur silkworms. This package for seed silkworm rearing lead to increase in fecundity by 67-121eggs (15.12-26.22%) and yield of standard boxes per 1 parent egg boxes by 57-58 egg boxes(48.33-51.66%) respectively in comparison th the traditional cocoon production technology.

  • In modern block ciphers, S-box plays a very important role in the secrets of symmetric encryption algorithms. Many popular block ciphers have adopted various S-Boxes to design better S-Boxes. Among the researches, Jin et al. proposed a simple scheme to create a new S-box from Rijndael S-box. Only one of the new S-boxes for 29 is a bijection with a better algebraic representation than the original. Therefore, they asked a few questions. In this paper, we answer the following question : When the resulting S-box is bijection?

  • Since that the portion of failures caused by mis-installation of accessories is about 50% of whole failures in power transmission lines, the necessity of assembly type joint boxes, which have excellent installation capability and which can be electrically tested before installation, is gradually increasing. In this paper, we presented the results from the study from the point of design and the results of experiments using models. With the results of study, we could make it clear that the possibility of practical use of assembly type joint boxes instead of conventional molding type joint boxes is very high.

  • This paper deals with the experimental research, including measurement and analysis and field survey, on the causes of occurring noise defective gear boxes in hoist production plant in order to reduce the fraction of their occurrence. In this reserch following investigations are performed : measurement and gear-boxes, examination of each machining process of production, measurement and analysis of dimensional accuracy of each part, comparative vibration test with exchanging inaccurate parts. From these investigations, it is found that the machining accuracy of pinion gear tooth thickness is the most sensitive factor of noise problem. By maintaining the tooth thickness error within 0.05 mm tolerance in the gear cutting process, the fraction of noise defective gear-boxes are greatly reduced to less than 2%, where the usual rate of it has been 20-50%.

  • At SAC 2004, Junod and Vaudenay designed the FOX family based on the Lai-Massey scheme. They noted that it was impossible to find any useful differential characteristic or linear trail after 8 rounds of FOX64 or FOX128. In this paper, we provide the lower bound of differentially active S-boxes in consecutive rounds of the Lai-Massey scheme that has SPS as its F-function, and we propose the necessary conditions for the reachability of the lower bound. We demonstrate that similar results can be obtained with respect to the lower bound of linearly active S-boxes by proving the duality in the Lai-Massey scheme. Finally, we apply these results to FOX64 and FOX128 and prove that it is impossible to find any useful differential characteristics or linear trail after 6 rounds of FOX64. We provide a more precise security bound for FOX128.

  • The compression strength of the corrugated fiberboard boxes is very important information to the manufacturers and the end users. The computer program being used to design the compression strength of the boxes was developed by using Korean Standards for the corrugated fiberboard box and some other data. The developed computer program could be applied to only the boxes produced according to the Korean Standards. Also this program needs to be revised continuously by the newly added and developed data.

  • The purpose of this thesis is to develop a heuristic algorithm evaluating the layout to maximize number of boxes when a single-box-type is packed into a container. Actually because three-dimensional problems are involved in NP-complete, much study has been focused on heuristic algorithms. The basic concept of this study is as follows. The problem is solved as palletizing problems with each side of the container respectively. By using the height of boxes, the problem is extended to a three-dimensional problem. Consequently, through this thesis, we can get good solution and the result is displayed by three-dimensional computer graphic.
