A Study on Effect of Recirculated Exhaust Gas upon Performance and Exhaust Emissions in a Power Plant Boiler with FGR System (FGR 시스템 동력 플랜트 보일러의 성능 및 배기 배출물에 미치는 재순환 배기의 영향에 관한 연구)

  • The effect of recirculated exhaust gas on performance and exhaust emissions with FGR rate are investigated by using a natural circulation, pressurized draft and water tube boiler with FGR system operating at several boiler loads and over fire air damper openings. The purpose of this study is to apply the FGR system to a power plant boiler for reducing $NO_x$ emissions. To activate the combustion, the OFA with 0 to 20% is supplied into the flame. When the suction damper of two stage combustion system installed in the upper side of wind box is opened by handling the lever between $0^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$, also, the combustion air supplied to burner is changed. It is found that the fuel consumption rate per evaporation rate did not show an obvious tendency to increase or decrease with rising the FGR rate, and $NO_x$ emissions at the same OFA damper opening are decreased, as FGR rates are elevated and boiler loads are dropped. While a trace amount of soot is emitted without regard to the operation conditions of boiler load, OFA damper opening and FGR rate, because soot emissions are eliminated by the electrostatic precipitator with a collecting efficiency of 86.7%.

Conservation of Iron Dagger & Scabbard Excavated in Daho-ri, Changwon (다호리 출토 칠초철검(漆鞘鐵劍)의 보존)

  • This study presents an investigation into the conservation process of an iron dagger and scabbard, which are a lacquered scabbard and a dagger inserted in it, excavated in the Daho-ri relic of Changwon by Gimhae National Museum. The bronze dagger whose condition was poor due to corrosion was coated with Incralac, an intensifier, to reveal the surface patterns through a microscope. The lacquered scabbard was removed of foreign substances on the surface and coated with HPC 2%(in water) to protect the film. Applied onto the surface from which foreign substances were removed was Caparol Binder 5%(in water) two to three times to form a protective film and then faced with Korean paper. Once it was fixed in a polyurethane foam in a stable manner, it was turned over to receive the same process on the back. Three layers of Korean paper were attached to the back of the scabbard to support the thin artifact. HPC 2%(in water), which was applied to the scabbard, was also applied to the iron dagger inside for cementing effect. After all the processes were completed, the artifact was put in a transparent acrylic box for future display.

Molecular Characterization of Extracellular Medium-chain-length Poly(3-hydroxyalkanoate) Depolymerase Genes from Pseudomonas alcaligenes Strains

  • A bacterial strain M4-7 capable of degrading various polyesters, such as poly$(\varepsilon-caprolactone)$, poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate), poly(3-hydroxyoctanoate), and poly(3-hydroxy-5-phenylvalerate), was isolated from a marine environment and identified as Pseudomonas alcaligenes. The relative molecular mass of a purified extracellular medium-chain-length poly(3-hydroxyalkanoate) (MCL-PHA) depolymerase $(PhaZ_{palM4-7})$ from P. alcaligenes M4-7 was 28.0 kDa, as determined by SDS-PAGE. The $PhaZ_{palM4-7}$ was most active in 50 mM glycine-NaOH buffer (pH 9.0) at $35^{\circ}C$. It was insensitive to dithiothreitol, sodium azide, and iodoacetamide, but susceptible to p-hydroxymercuribenzoic acid, N-bromosuccinimide, acetic anhydride, EDTA, diisopropyl fluorophosphate, phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride, Tween 80, and Triton X-100. In this study, the genes encoding MCL-PHA depolymerase were cloned, sequenced, and characterized from a soil bacterium, P. alcaligenes LB19 (Kim et al., 2002, Biomacro-molecules 3, 291-296) as well as P. alcaligenes M4-7. The structural gene $(phaZ_{palLB19})$ of MCL-PHA depolymerase of P. alcaligenes LB19 consisted of an 837 bp open reading frame (ORF) encoding a protein of 278 amino acids with a deduced $M_r$ of 30,188 Da. However, the MCL-PHA depolymerase gene $(phaZ_{palM4-7})$ of P. alcaligenes M4-7 was composed of an 834 bp ORF encoding a protein of 277 amino acids with a deduced Mr of 30,323 Da. Amino acid sequence analyses showed that, in the two different polypeptides, a substrate-binding domain and a catalytic domain are located in the N-terminus and in the C-terminus, respectively. The $PhaZ_{palLB19}$ and the $PhaZ_{palM4-7}$ commonly share the lipase box, GISSG, in their catalytic domains, and utilize $^{111}Asn$ and $^{110}Ser$ residues, respectively, as oxyanions that play an important role in transition-state stabilization of hydrolytic reactions.

  • This study proposes a new polling algorithm allowing dynamic change in polling period based on line utilization prediction. Polling is the most important function in network monitoring, but excessive polling data causes rather serious congestion conditions of network when network is In congestion. Therefore, existing multiple polling algorithms decided network congestion or load of agent with previously performed polling Round Trip Time or line utilization, chanced polling period, and controlled polling traffic. But, this algorithm is to change the polling period based on the previous polling and does not reflect network conditions in the current time to be polled. A algorithm proposed in this study is to predict whether polling traffic exceeds threshold of line utilization on polling path based on the past data and to change the polling period with the prediction. In this study, utilization of each line configuring network was predicted with AR model and violation of threshold was presented in probability. In addition, suitability was evaluated by applying the proposed dynamic polling algorithm based on line utilization prediction to the actual network, reasonable level of threshold for line utilization and the violation probability of threshold were decided by experiment. Performance of this algorithm was maximized with these processes.

Field Application of 80MPa High Strength Fire Resistant Concrete using Ternary Blended Cement (설계강도 80MPa 3성분계 고강도내화콘크리트의 현장적용 및 성과분석)

  • Fire resistance and field tests for high-strength concrete(HSC) of 80MPa were carried out to evaluate whether or not it shows the same material properties even in the field condition of being mass-produced and supplied. As a result, it was found that fire resistant HSCs containing composite fiber(NY, PP) of 0.075% have great resistance to fire and spalling. In the field test, before the pumping air contents, slump flow, U-box, L-flow, compressive strength, gap of hydration temperature of interior and exterior of specimen and placing ratio per hour satisfied the required properties of HSC. However, after the pumping of HSC, as slump flow and L-flow were slightly less than required criterion, they need to be improved. In terms of hydration temperature of HSC, it was found to satisfy the related criterion. Packing ability as well as placing ratio per hour of HSC, which was about $44m^3$, show outstanding results. If slump flow of developed ternary HSC is improved after the pumping it can be useful for the construction of high-rise buildings.

  • In current digital broadcasting systems, GEM(Globally Executable MHP)-based middlewares such as MHP(Multimedia Home Platform), OCAP(OpenCable Application Platform), ACAP(Advanced Common Application Platform) are the norm. Despite much of the common characteristics shared, such as MPEG-2 and DSM-CC(Digital Storage Media-Command and Control) protocols, the information and data structures they need are slightly different, which results in incompatibility issues. In this paper, in line with an effort to develop an integrated DTV middleware, we propose a general-purpose, reconfigurable DSM-CC architecture for supporting various standard GEM-based middlewares without code modifications. First, we identify DSM-CC components that are common and thus can be shared by all GEM-based middlewares. Next, the system is provided with middleware-specific information and data structures in the form of XML. Since the XML information can be parsed dynamically at run time, it can be interchanged either statically or dynamically for a specific target middleware. As for the performance issues, the response time and usage frequency of DSM-CC module highly contribute to the performance of STB(Set-Top-Box). In this paper, we also propose an efficient application cache management strategy and evaluate its performance. The performance result has shown that the cache strategy reflecting user preferences greatly helps to reduce response time for executing application.

Development of a Framework for Anti-Collision System of Moving Drilling Machines on a Drill Floor (시추 작업장의 이동식 시추 장비 충돌 방지 시스템을 위한 프레임워크 개발)

  • An anti-collision system between equipment is essential on a drill floor where multiple moving machines are operated simultaneously. This is to prevent accidents by halting the machines when required, by inspecting possibility of a collision based on the relative position data sent by the equipment. In this paper, we propose a framework for an Anti-Collision System (ACS) by considering expandability of the number of machines and computational speed, to promote development of drilling machines and corresponding ACS software. Each drilling equipment is represented as an object in the software with its own message format, and the message is constructed with serialization/deserialization to manage any additional equipment or data. The data handling process receives the current status of machines from the drilling control network, and relays a collision related message (including bypass signal) back to the machines. A commercial visualization software shows the bounding boxes moving with the equipment and indicates probable collision. It has been determined that the proposed system maintains total execution time below 5ms to process data from the network and relay the information hence, the system has no effect on the machine control systems having 100ms control cycle.

THE EFFECT OF SANDWICH TECHNIQUE USING FLOWABLE COMPOSITE RESIN BASE ON THE MICROLEAKAGEIN CLASS II CAVITIES OF MOLAR (구치부 제2급 와동에서 고흐름성 복합레진을 이용한 적층 충전술식의 미세누출에 미치는 영향)

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate the marginal adaptation of direct class II sandwich restoration with packable composites(P-60), resin modified glass ionomer cement(Fuji-II LC), flowable compomer(Dyract Flow), flowable composites(Filtek Flow) in comparison with total bond restorations. In addition, for sandwich restorations, influence of different sandwich techniques was also evaluated. Large butt-joint box typed class II cavites with cervical margins 1mm below the cemento-enamel junction were cut into 70 extracted human molars. The cavities(7 groups, n=10) were filled using a closed/open sandwich restoration or total bond restoration technique with materials according to the manufacturer's recommandation using the single-component bonding agent for each system. Teeth were thermocycled 500 times between 5$^{\circ}C$ and 55$^{\circ}C$ with 30-second dwell time. The teeth were then coated with nail polish 1mm short of the restoration, placed in a 2% methylene blue for 24 hours, and sectioned with diamond wheel. Sections were examined with a stereoscope to determine the extent of microleakage. Dentine /Cementum margins were analyzed for microleakage on scale of 0(no leakage) to 4(entire axial wall) and interface between materials, on scale of 0(no leakage) to 3(axial wall). Results were evaluated with Kruskal Wallis Test, corrected for ties, to determine whether there were statistically significant differences among the seven groups. Pairs of groups were analyzed using the Student-Newman-Keuls Method and Dunn s Method. The results were as follows : 1. All groups showed some micoleakage in cervical portion. But there were no microleakage in interface between materials. 2. Closed sandwich restorations with Fuji-II LC and Filtek Flow had significantly lower leakage rating than total restorations with only P-60. However, open sandwich restorations with Dyract Flow showed significantly higher (P<0.05) 3. Closed sandwich restorations had significantly lower leakage rating than total restorations. However open sandwich restoration s showed significantly higher (P<0.05). 4. Sandwich restorations with Fuji-II LC were iou$.$or leakage than only P-60. Filtek Flow, Dyract Flow. But there were no statistically differences among the materials. From the results above, it could be concluded, closed sandwich restorations was effective in reducing microleakage of class II restorations. The best results showing the least microleakage were for the closed sandwich technique with Fuji-II LC and Filtek Flow.

A Clinical Trial to Assess the Efficacy of Acupuncture on Hot Flashes in Postmenopausal Women;Focusing on the comparison of the effects of Traditional Korean medical acupuncture (TKMA) and Minimal Acupuncture (MA)

  • Objective : In this study we wanted to confirm if proper stimulation and de-Qi of traditional Korean medical acupuncture could increase hot flash relief efficacy. Design : A randomized controlled, single blind study. We used two modalities of acupuncture, one with optimal stimulation [Study group; Korean medical acupuncture (TKMA)] and one with minimal stimulation [Control group; Minimal acupuncture (MA)]. Same acupoints [PC6(內關), HT8(少府), HT7(神門), LI4(合谷), ST36(足三里), SP6(三陰交), Ren4(關元)] were used in both groups. Fifty-two patients were treated twice a week for 8 weeks, and follow up was done after 4 weeks from the last treatment. Patients were checked hot flash VAS (visual analog scale), frequency and duration every time they visited. Results : Hot flash relief efficacy by 100mm hot flash VAS was obvious in both groups. Hot flash VAS scores of study group were smaller than the scores of control group at the early stage (3rd, $4^{th}$ and $8^{th}$ visit), but there wasn't a remarkable difference between study and control group at the end of the trial. Besides, diminution of hot flash VAS was faster and more even in the study group than control group by visualization using 'Box plot'. We compared frequency and duration of hot flash, 100mm sweating, palpitation, sleep disturbance VAS, and Kupperman Index, MENQOL, Patient's global assessment score. Both groups showed definite decrease from the baseline, but the difference was not statistically significant. There wasn't any adverse event. Hot flash relief efficacy was kept in most patients after 4 weeks' follow-up. Conclusion : Acupoint combination by Traditional Korean medical theory is effective on hot flashes and hot flash relief efficacy was faster and more even in optimal stimulation than minimal stimulation.

Microbiological Evaluations on the Facilities and Utilities of Korean Restaurants (한식당 설비와 기구의 미생물 평가)

  • The microbiological examinations were conducted for the hygienic evaluation on three Korean restaurants during summer season in Busan, Korea. Total one hundred and sixty swabbed samples using sponge were collected from the surface of facilities and utensils at restaurants and total and coliform counts were measured. Also thirty- six air samples were collected at inside of three restaurants for measuring total, coliform, Staphy-lococcus and mold and yeast counts. All collected samples kept in an ice-packed box were transported to the laboratory and analyzed. The results demonstrated that most swabbed samples were highly contaminated with microorganisms and coliforms. The degree of contamination depended on the sampling sites. Averages of total counts of surface swab samples were ranged from not detectable to 2.14$\times\10^{9}$/200 $cm^{2}$, while those of coliforms from not detectable to 8.34$\times\10^{7}$/200 $cm^{2}$/200 $cm^{2}$. Microorganisms also detected from most agar strips of air samples for total, coliform, Staphylococcus and mold and yeast counts. The severely contaminated sites were floor, trench, water bottle, plastic drainer, rubber gloves, shelves, and unsealed wet towel. Those sites should be focused and controlled according to control Points of sanitation standard operating Procedures. Also, periodic microbiological examination in addition to visual examination should be applied on those highly contaminated sites for reducing risk of foodborne disease outbreak at restaurants
