Study on the estimation of the cylinder displacement of an underwater robot for harbor construction using a pressure sensor (압력센서를 이용한 수중항만공사 로봇의 실린더 변위 추정에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents an observer to estimate the displacement of hydraulic cylinders of an underwater robot for harbour construction using a pressure sensor. In harbour constructing, we place heavy armour stones weighing over 2~3 tons on the surface of the bank to protect it from storming wave. This work typically done by a diver is difficult and dangerous so that we have developed Stone Diver which is the underwater robot for harbour construction. The robot needs a displacement sensors to control the position of hydraulic cylinders. The position sensors mounted outside the cylinders cause poor durability in construction site where shock and dust usually occur. However, the pressure sensor mounted inside a waterproof box improves the durability. Based on the dynamic parameters and the pressures in the cylinder, the observer estimates the cylinder's position. This paper presents the positional accuracy of the pressure based observer and the performance of the underwater robot to assemble the armour stones.

A Study on Stereo Visualization of the X-ray Scanned Image Based on Dual-line Sensors (듀얼센서 기반 X-선 검색영상 스테레오 가시화 연구)

  • This paper presents a 3-D visualization technique using stereo radioactive images to provide efficient inspection of fast moving cargo objects. The proposed technique can be used for such objects which CT or MRI cannot inspect due to restricted scan environment. Stereo radioactive images are acquired from a specially designed equipment which consists of a X-ray source, linear radioactive sensors, and a moving stage. Two radioactive sensors are installed so that rectified stereo X-ray images of objects are acquired. Using the stereo X-ray images, we run a matching algorithm to find the correspondences between the images and reconstruct 3-D shapes of real objects. The objects are put in a parallelepiped box to simulate cargo inspection. Three real objects are tested and reconstructed. Due to the inherent ambiguity in the stereo X-ray images, we reconstruct 3-D shapes of the edges of the objects. The experimental results show the proposed technique can provide efficient visualization for cargo inspection.

  • Recently, interest in unmanned vehicles, autonomous vehicles and connected cars has increased, and autonomous driving capability is also increasing. Depending on the autonomous driving ability, the maximum number of steps is divided into 6 steps. The higher the step, the less the involvement of the person in the running, and the person does not need to be involved at the highest stage. Today's autonomous vehicles have been developed in stages 4 to 5, but solutions are not clearly defined in case of an accident, so only the test run is possible. Such an accident occurring during traveling is almost inevitable, and it is judged who has made a mistake in case of an accident, which increases the punishment for the accident. Although a black box is used to clarify such a part, it is easy to delete a photographed image, and it is difficult to solve an accident such as a hit-and-run. In this paper, we design a driving record system using black chain to solve such an accident.

  • This paper describes the design and implementation of architecture for convergence of home network services and data broadcasting services based on UMB and ACAP middleware; the one is used for interoperability of home networked devices, and the other for data broadcasting services. The proposed architecture provides TV-centric user interface capable of managing home network services and data broadcasting services together using a remote controller and TV sets TV applying Java TV Xlet interface and HAVi user interface for home network services like data broadcasting services. Besides, we define the service proxy for accessing home network services in a set-top box and the service broker for providing data related to home network services in a home server. Finally, the application manager in ACAP middleware manages the lifecycle of home network services through service events from the service proxy to the application manager.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient algorithm for non-streaming synchronized data processing based on ATSC-DASE in terrestrial digital data broadcasting services. Non-streaming synchronized data is encapsulated in DSM-CC sections with PTS(presentation time stamp) values associated with A/V and it is transmitted in a form of MPEG-2 TS(transport stream). At the receiver, the transmitted A/V data are processed by PC based set-top box(STB) in real-time, and the transmitted non-streaming synchronized data is also stored at the STB and is displayed at right time by the proposed algorithm. To verity the proper operation of the proposed algorithm, we make a scenario for non-streaming synchronized data by XML, and finally we are able to display it properly by using declarative application(DA) browser.

  • [ $HfO_2$ ] and $HfO_xN_y$ films were deposited by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition using $Hf[OC(CH_3)_3]_4$ as the precursor in the absence of $O_2$. The crystallization temperature of the $HfO_xN_y$ films is higher than that of the $HfO_2$ film. Nitrogen incorporation in $HfO_xN_y$ was confirmed by auger electron spectroscopy analysis. After post deposition annealing (PDA) at 800$\Box$, the EOT increased from 1.34 to 1.6 nm in the $HfO_2$ thin films, whereas the increase of EOT was suppressed to less than 0.02 nm in the $HfO_xN_y$. The leakage current density decreased from 0.18 to 0.012 $A/cm^2$ with increasing PDA temperature in the $HfO_2$ films. But the leakage current density of $HfO_xN_y$ does not vary with increasing PDA temperature because an amorphous $HfO_xN_y$ films suppresses the diffusion of oxygen through the gate dielectric.

An Analytic Study on the Categorization of Query through Automatic Term Classification (용어 자동분류를 사용한 검색어 범주화의 분석적 고찰)

  • Queries entered in a search box are the results of users' activities to actively seek information. Therefore, search logs are important data which represent users' information needs. The purpose of this study is to examine if there is a relationship between the results of queries automatically classified and the categories of documents accessed. Search sessions were identified in 2009 NDSL(National Discovery for Science Leaders) log dataset of KISTI (Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information). Queries and items used were extracted by session. The queries were processed using an automatic classifier. The identified queries were then compared with the subject categories of items used. As a result, it was found that the average similarity was 58.8% for the automatic classification of the top 100 queries. Interestingly, this result is a numerical value lower than 76.8%, the result of search evaluated by experts. The reason for this difference explains that the terms used as queries are newly emerging as those of concern in other fields of research.

Detection of Direction Indicators on Road Surfaces Using Inverse Perspective Mapping and NN (원근투영법과 신경망을 이용한 도로노면 방향지시기호 검출 연구)

  • This paper proposes a method for detecting the direction indicator shown in the road surface efficiently from the black box system installed on the vehicle. In the proposed method, the direction indicators are detected by inverse perspective mapping(IPM) and bag of visual features(BOF)-based NN classifier. In order to apply the proposed method to real-time environments, the candidated regions of direction indicator in an image only performs IPM, and BOF-based NN is used for the classification of feature information from direction indicators. The results of applying the proposed method to the road surface direction indicators detection and recognition, the detection accuracy was presented at least about 89%, and the method presents a relatively high detection rate in the various road conditions. Thus it can be seen that the proposed method is applied to safe driving support systems available.

  • Box and Draper( 19(5) listed some properties of a design that should be considered in design selection. But it is impossible that one design criterion from optimal experimental design theory reflects many potential objectives of an experiment, because the theory was originally based on the underlying model and its strict assumption about the error structure. Therefore, when it is neces::;ary to implement multi-objective experimental design. it is common practice to balance out the several optimal design criteria so that each design criterion involved benefits in terms of its relative "high" efficiency. In this study, we proposed several composite design criteria taking the case of heteroscedastic model. WVhen the heteroscedasticity is present in the model. the well known equivalence theorem between 1)- and C-optimality no longer exists and furthermore their design characteristics are sometimes drastically different. We introduced three different design criteria for this purpose: constrained design, combined design, and minimax design criteria. While the first two methods do reflect the prior belief of experimenter, the last one does not take it into account. which is sometimes desirable. Also we extended this method to the case when there are uncertainties concerning the error structure in the model. A simple algorithm and concluslOn follow.On follow.

Optimum Life-Cycle Cost Design of Steel Bridges (강교의 생애주기비용 최적설계)

  • This paper proposed a general formulation of Life-Cycle Cost (LCC) models and LCC effective design system models of steel bridges suitable for practical implementation. An LCC model for the optimum design of steel bridges included initial cost and direct/indirect rehabilitation costs of a steel bridge as well as repair/replacement costs, loss of contents or fatality and injury losses, road user costs, and indirect socioeconomic losses. The new road user cost model and regional socioeconomic losses model were especially considered because of the traffic network. Illustrative design examples of an actual steel box girder and an orthotropic steel deck bridge were discussed to demonstrate the LCC effectiveness of the design of steel bridges. Based on the results of the numerical investigation, the LCC-effective optimum design of steel bridges based on the proposed LCC model was found to lead to a more rational, economical, and safer design compared with the initial cost-optimum design and the conventional code-based design.
