  • In this paper, we investigate bounded matrices over regular rings. We observe that every bounded matrix over a regular ring can be described by idempotent matrices and invertible matrices. Let A, $B{in}M_n(R)$ be bounded matrices over a regular ring R. We prove that $(AB)^d = U(BA)^dU^{-1}$ for some $U{\in}GL_n(R)$.

  • This paper deals with the problem of estimating the asymptotic stability region(ASR) of uncertain variable structure systems with bounded control. Using linear matrix inequalities(LMIs) we estimate the ASR and we show the exponential stability of the closed-loop control system in the estimated ASR. We show that our estimate is always better than the estimate of [3].

  • In this paper, the guaranteed cost filtering design method for linear time delay systems with convex bounded uncertainties in discrete-time case is presented. The uncertain parameters are assumed to be unknown but belonging to known convex compact set of polytotype less conservative than norm bounded parameter uncertainty. The main purpose is to design a stable filter which minimizes the guaranteed cost. The sufficient condition for the existence of filter, the guaranteed cost filter design method, and the upper bound of the guaranteed cost are proposed. Since the proposed sufficient conditions are LMI(linear matrix inequality) forms in terms of all finding variables, all solutions can be obtained simultaneously by means of powerful convex programming tools with global convergence assured. Finally, a numerical example is given to check the validity of the proposed method.

  • This paper deals with the problem of estimating the asymptotic stability region(ASR) of uncertain variable structure systems with bounded controllers. Using linear matrix inequalities(LMIs) we estimate the ASR and show the exponential stability of the closed-loop control system in the estimated ASR. We give a simple LMI-based algorithm to get estimates of the ASR. We also give a synthesis algorithm to design a switching surface which will make the estimated ASR big. Finally, we give numerical examples in order to show that our method can give better results than the previous ones for a certain class of uncertain variable structure systems with bounded controllers.

  • We compute explicitly the matrix represented by the Toeplitz operator on the Hardy space over a smoothly finitely connected bounded domain in the plane with respect to special orthonormal bases consisting of the classical kernel functions for the space of square integrable functions and for the Hardy space. The Fourier coefficients of the symbol of the Toeplitz operator are obtained from zeroth row vectors and zeroth column vectors of the matrix. And we also find some condition for the product of two Toeplitz operators to be a Toeplitz operator in terms of matrices.

  • A new discrete time gain-scheduled control design is proposed to improve disturbance attenuation for systems with bounded control input under known disturbance maximum norm. The state feedback gains are scheduled according to the proximity of the state of the plant to the origin. The controllers are derived in the framework of linear matrix inequality(LMI) optimization. This procedure yields a linear time varying control structure that allows higher gain and hence higher performance controllers as the state moves closer to the origin. The main results give sufficient conditions for the satisfaction of a parameter-dependent performance measure, without violating the bounded control input condition under the given disturbance maximum norm.

  • A new optimal state feedback and disturbance feedforward control design in the sense of minimizing $L_{2}-gain$ from disturbance to control output is proposed for disturbance attenuation of systems with bounded control input and measurable disturbance. The controller is derived in the framework of linear matrix inequality(LMI) optimization. A gain scheduled state feedback and disturbance feedforward control design is also suggested to improve disturbance attenuation performance. The control gains are scheduled according to the proximity to the origin of the state of the plant and the magnitude of disturbance. • This paper deals with the robust stability of discrete-time linear systems with time- varying delays and norm-bounded uncertainties. In this paper, the magnitude of time-varying delays is assumed to be upper-bounded. The sufficient condition is presented in terms of linear matrix inequality. It is also shown that the robust stability of uncertain discrete-time linear systems with time-varying delays is related with the quadratic stability of uncertain discrete-time linear systems with constant time delay.
