A Study on the Optimal Design for Aluminum Boom Shape in High Ladder Vehicles (고가사다리차의 알루미늄 붐 형상의 최적설계에 관한 연구)

  • An Optimal shape design of the boom system in high ladder vehicles is performed using 3-D finite element method (FEM). Results of structural analyses providing displacements, stresses are implemented for the optimum shape design. Lanzcos algorithm is used for the modal analysis in order to find natural frequencies. The optimal shape including cross sectional thickness and length of the boom system is controlled by the subproblem method besed on displacement and Von Mises stress. It is found that a plenty of materials can be saved by using shape design optimization in high ladder vehicles. It is also found that the natural frequency is increased until 6th mode and maintained similarly or decreased after 6th mode.

  • Shape optimal design of an excavator boom to minimize weight can be formulated as a nonlinear programming problem with an automesh refinement carried out by using the finite element method. The design variables are the radii and the coordinates of the circle to describe the excavator boundary shape. In addition to the displacement and stress constraints, geometric constraints are imposed such that the nodes cannot cross the certain range. The optimum design is obtained by using the PLBA nonlinear programming code. The sensitivity derivatives are calculated using the semi-analytical scheme. Numerical results of an excavator boom show potential for weight reduction of 4.4%(65.6 kgf) when considering the displacement, stress and geometric constraints.

  • In the advent of ubiquitous information technology (u-IT) as a new emerging horizon of information society, inflated expectations regarding u-IT are growing very fast and higher than those made in the past, which would perhaps result in serious bust after boom and incur tremendous amount of social costs. This paper thus investigates a dynamic mechanism underlying the coevolution between information technology and society by applying systems thinking, particularly, with a focus on the typical phenomenon, 'hype curve' which shows how new technologies initially grow too fast for their own good, crashing from a peak of inflated expectations into a trough of disillusionment before stabilizing on a plateau of productivity. Three basic questions are explored to answer by investigating the mechanisms underlying the 'boom-bust' phenomenon: First, why hype curve appears in the process of technology and society coevolution. Second, how to enhance the stabilization level. Third, when is the right time for the policy intervention.

차실 내부소음의 특성과 저감에 관한 실험적 고찰(상)

  • The nature and the sources of sound in cars is discussed in the light of many previous works, and the importance of the system resonances inside cars is suggested. An investigation of a 'boom' problem in a small size passenger car is described. It was established that the 'boom' frequencies coincided with engine firing frequency and also with several system resonances. To find out main transmission path of the noise to the car interior, various possible sources were eliminated from the investigation by means of simple modification to the vehicle. Data on the structural modes of the body, and the acoustic modes of the passenger compartment at various forcing cases were obtained to provide better understanding of the problem. It was found that the acoustic resonance responsible for the boom was controlled largely the bending motion of the floor. To investigate the effect of the structural modification to the acoustic response, center floor of the car was reinforced. a great reduction of the noise inside the car especially at the offending speed range, was achieved by this modification.

Flow Compensating Characteristics for the Speed Variation of a Boom Sprayer (붐방제기용 주행속도 보상식 유량제어부의 동특성)

  • Over- and under-application of pesticides to crops have recently become main concerns regarding the environment conservation, product cost and firmer's safety. Thus, a uniform and optimal application method of pesticides was needed. The objective of study was to evaluate flow compensating characteristics of a variable flow control system for a boom sprayer using a laboratory setup. At the most variable conditions, the control system was acceptable with the flowrate control strategy. However, the sprayer control system became unstably fluctuating at the long execution time with small tolerance because of the constant valve on-time. This problem was solved by employing a variable on-time control. The optimal values for the damping ratio and the execution time were 2 and 1.0 sec, respectively, with the tolerances less than 3%. The performance of the control system at the optimal conditions were the response time of 3.8sec and the absolute steady-state error of 0.5% with the stable RCV and ROS ( < 1.0).

  • Vibration of a hydraulic excavator's body and boom occurs when the boom quickly stops after upward or downward motion. The main objective of this research is to present an idea of suppressing the vibration. Three parameters which affect the vibration are defined and analyzed thoroughly and a heuristic method suppressing the vibration is presented in this paper. Experimental results show that the proposed method works very well.

  • This study was accomplished to develop a pneumatic granular applicator that can be attached to the conventional ride-on rice transplanter. Operating conditions of a metering device for the applicator were determined so as to obtain the required discharge rate of granules for field application. The shape and size of diffuser was selected for the applicator and the spacing between diffusers on a boom and the boom height were determined as an optimal application condition for uniform distribution. The diffuser spacing of 1m for the fertilizer and the diffuser spacing of 0.8m for the pesticide at the boom height over 0.8m were acceptable.

  • The present paper studies the thermally-induced vibration phenomenon of the flexible space boom structure. In order to simulate the thermally-induced vibration phenomenon of the flexible thin boom structure of the spacecraft with the attached tip mass in space, the thermally-induced vibration including thermal flutter is experimentally investigated at various thermal environments using a heating lamp in vacuum chamber. In this experimental study, fluctuating characteristics, natural frequency and thermal strains of the thermally-induced vibration are parametrically investigated at various thermal environment conditions. Finally the thermally-induced vibration of the flexible boom structure of the orbiting earth satellite in solar radiation environment from the earth eclipse region including umbra and penumbra is simulated using the power control of the heating lamp in the vacuum chamber.

  • 현재 반도체 습식식각 공정에 사용되고 있는 방법은 batch식과 매엽식이 있다. batch식 식각방법은 매엽식보다 throughput이 많은 반면 식각균일도는 떨어진다. 매엽식은 웨이퍼를 회전시키면서 약액을 분사할 때 Boom swing을 하여 균일하게 식각할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 Boom swing이 없는 구조의 매엽식 장비에서 약액이 상온과 고온일 때 $SiO_2$막을 식각하여 비교하였다. 각각의 조건에서 식각량의 분포와 균일도의 변화에 대해서 알아보았으며, 실험평가시 분사된 약액의 온도분포를 이론적으로 계산하여 실제 실험결과와 비교하여 보았다. 식각균일도는 batch식 보다 매엽식 스핀방식이 균일하였으며, 약액분사 방법은 boom swing을 하는 것이 더 균일하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 해상 크레인과 중량물의 동적 거동을 시뮬레이션하기 위해, 유한 요소 정식화(finite element formulation)를 이용하여 해상 크레인의 붐(boom)을 탄성체로 모델링 하였다. 붐은 3차원 탄성 빔(beam) 요소로 가정하고, 각 요소의 변형에 의한 변위는 형상 함수(shape function)과 절점 좌표(nodal coordinate)를 이용하여 정의하였다. 변형 변위를 이용하여 탄성 붐의 강성 행렬(stiffnes matrix)을 유도하고, 탄성 변위를 포함하는 위치 벡터를 이용하여 질량 행렬을 유도한다. 해상 크레인과 중량물로 이루어진 운동 방정식에 탄성 붐을 포함하여 유연 다물체계(flexible multibody system) 운동 방정식을 구성한다. 외력으로는 선박 유체정역학적 힘, 유체동역학적 힘, wire rope의 장력, 중력 그리고 계류력(mooring force)이 고려되었다. 먼저 요소의 개수를 변경하며 탄성 붐의 동적 거동을 시뮬레이션 하여, 유한 요소 정식화를 이용한 모델링의 타당성을 검증하였다. 그리고 해상 크레인과 중량물의 동적 거동 시뮬레이션에 탄성 붐 모델을 적용하였다.
