Estimation of 3D active earth pressure under nonlinear strength condition

  • The calculation of active earth pressure behind retaining wall is a typical three-dimensional (3D) problem with spatial effects. With the help of limit analysis, this paper firstly deduces the internal energy dissipation power equations and various external forces power equations of the 3D retaining wall under the nonlinear strength condition, such as to establish the work-energy balance equation. The pseudo-static method is used to consider the effect of earthquake on active earth pressure in horizontal state. The failure mode is a 3D curvilinear cone failure mechanism. For the different width of the retaining wall, the plane strain block is inserted in the symmetric plane. By optimizing all parameters, the maximum value of active earth pressure is calculated. In order to verify the validity of the new expressions obtained by the paper, the solutions are compared with previously published solutions. Agreement shows that the new expressions are effective. The results of different parameters are given in the forms of figures to analysis the influence caused by nonlinear strength parameters.

GPS 신호 단절 상황에서 IMU 사양에 따른 보조센서 통합을 이용한 정확도 분석 (Accuracy Analysis using Assistant Sensor Integration on Various IMU during GPS Signal Blockage)

  • 본 연구에서는 MMS인 경우 고성능의 중급 IMU가 사용되고 보행자 항법시스템에서는 MEMS형의 저급 IMU가 사용된다고 가정한 후 GPS 신호가 단절되었을 경우 IMU에 의해 생성되는 위치 및 자세 오차를 시뮬레이션을 통하여 계산하였다. 또한 GPS 신호 단절 시에 고도계, 전자나침반 및 2가지 센서를 동시에 이용하는 MultiSensor를 이용하여 중급 및 저급 IMU를 보정하였을 경우의 정확도 향상 효과를 분석하였다. 실험 결과 중급 IMU의 경우 MMS에서 요구되는 3차원 위치오차 정확도가 5m라고 가정할 경우 GPS 단절 시간이 30초가 넘으면 요구 정확도를 만족하지 못하였다. 하지만 GPS 단절 구간에서 고도계 전자나침반 그리고 MultiSensor를 이용하여 IMU 보정을 수행할 경우 약 60초까지 요구정확도를 만족하였다. 또한 고도계 및 전자나침반을 동시에 사용할 경우 고도계에 의한 영향이 더욱 큰 것으로 판단된다 MEMS IMU와 같은 저급 IMU가 사용되는 보행자 항법 시스템의 요구 위치 정확도가 약 20m라고 가정할 경우 4초 이후에는 요구 정확도를 만족하지 못하였으며 자세 오차도 매우 급증하였다. 하지만 GPS 신호 단절시 보조센서를 이용하여 저급 IMU 보정을 수행하였을 경우 약 15초까지 요구 정확도를 만족할수 있을 것으로 시뮬레이션 결과 예측되었으며 또한 중급 IMU 실험과는 반대로 보행자 항법과 같은 속도가 느린 시스템에서 고도계 및 전자나침반 2가지 센서를 동시에 사용할 경우 전자나침반에 의한 영향이 더욱 큰 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 GPS 신호 단절이 발생할 수 있는 지역에 대하여 MMS 또는 보행자 항법시스템을 운용할 경우 요구 정확도에 따른 보조센서 통합을 이용하여 정확도를 높이는 자료로써 사용될 수 있을 것으로 예상된다.

Assessment of mulberry leaf as a potential feed supplement for animal feeding in P.R. China

  • Objective: Mulberry (Morus alba L.) is a cultivated shrub grown widely in the sub-tropical and tropical areas. It has been shown that mulberry leaf contains high levels of protein while having polyphenols as phytonutrients. Therefore, it is important to conduct an experiment to assess potential toxic level from mulberry on behavior, blood hematological and coagulation parameter using Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats. Methods: Both male and female SD rats were given an intragastric administration of respective treatments of mulberry leaf intakes (control, low and high levels). Parameters of feed intake, hematological and coagulation of blood parameters, as well as liveweight changes were taken during the 7 d of adaptation, 28 d of treatment exposure, and 14 d of recovery periods, respectively. All treatment data were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance of SPSS17.0 for Windows Statistical Software following the Randomized complete block design with sex as a block. Results: Most of the parameters of the physical symptoms of the SD rats, were not significantly different (p>0.05) when compared with that of the control group. Those which remain unchanged in each dose group were, body weight (BW) gain, feed intake, the hematology and coagulation indexes. Although, there were a few individual indicators that were abnormal, but the overall physiological appearance of the rats were normal. Conclusion: Results under this experiment revealed that most hematological and coagulation parameters of the SD rats in both male and female were normal, although the weight gain of female rats in high-dose group was significantly reduced than those of the male rats. Under this study, the use of mulberry leaf up to 2 g/kg BW did not result in abnormal phenomenon in the SD rats. These findings would offer useful information for further in vivo feeding trials in animals to extensively use of mulberry leaf to improve animal production, particularly in P.R. China.

Characterization of Tifton 85 bermudagrass haylage with different layers of polyethylene film and storage time

  • Objective: The objective was to characterize the fermentative and microbiological profile of Tifton 85 bermudagrass haylage with different layers of polyethylene film and storage time. Methods: The experimental design consisted of a randomized block design with four and six wrapping layers (100 and 150 microns in total. respectively) allocated in the main plots, through repeated measures analysis (30, 60, and 90 days of storage) with four replicates. Results: The storage time and number of wrapping layers did not show changes in the population of Clostridium and lactic acid bacteria. A decrease was observed in the enterobacteria population with an increase in the storage period in the two wrapping layers studied. Upon opening of the haylage at 30 days, the population of Bacillus was lower in haylages made with six layers of wrapping (3.63 log colony forming units/g). No growth of Listeria sp. or Salmonella sp. was observed during the experimental period. The fungal genera with a greater occurrence were Penicillium sp. and Fusarium sp. The following mycotoxins were not detected: ochratoxin A, fumonisins, and zearalenone. Relative to the organic butyric, propionic, and acetic acids, the haylages presented a low concentration of lactic acid; this may have prevented a drop in the pH, which was high when the silos were opened (5.4). The levels of ammoniacal nitrogen and soluble carbohydrates presented no variation among the number of wrapping layers, with an overall average of 35.55 and 38.04 g/kg. Conclusion: Tifton 85 bermudagrass haylage wrapped with four and six layers presented adequate fermentation and microbiological characteristics in the evaluated periods.

Metabolizable energy requirement for maintenance estimated by regression analysis of body weight gain or metabolizable energy intake in growing pigs

  • Objective: Feed energy required for pigs is first prioritized to meet maintenance costs. Additional energy intake in excess of the energy requirement for maintenance is retained as protein and fat in the body, leading to weight gain. The objective of this study was to estimate the metabolizable energy requirements for maintenance ($ME_m$) by regressing body weight (BW) gain against metabolizable energy intake (MEI) in growing pigs. Methods: Thirty-six growing pigs ($26.3{\pm}1.7kg$) were allotted to 1 of 6 treatments with 6 replicates per treatment in a randomized complete block design. Treatments were 6 feeding levels which were calculated as 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, or 100% of the estimated ad libitum MEI ($2,400kJ/kg\;BW^{0.60}\;d$). All pigs were individually housed in metabolism crates for 30 d and weighed every 5 d. Moreover, each pig from each treatment was placed in the open-circuit respiration chambers to measure heat production (HP) and energy retained as protein ($RE_p$) and fat ($RE_f$) every 5 d. Serum biochemical parameters of pigs were analyzed at the end of the experiment. Results: The average daily gain (ADG) and HP as well as the $RE_p$ and $RE_f$ linearly increased with increasing feed intake (p<0.010). ${\beta}$-hydroxybutyrate concentration of serum tended to increase with increasing feed intake (p = 0.080). The regression equations of MEI on ADG were MEI, $kJ/kg\;BW^{0.60}\;d=1.88{\times}ADG$, g/d+782 ($R^2=0.86$) and $ME_m$ was estimated at $782kJ/kg\;BW^{0.60}\;d$. Protein retention of growing pigs would be positive while REf would be negative at this feeding level via regression equations of $RE_p$ and $RE_f$ on MEI. Conclusion: The $ME_m$ was estimated at $782kJ/kg\;BW^{0.60}\;d$ in current experiment. Furthermore, growing pigs will deposit protein and oxidize fat if provided feed at the estimated maintenance level.

IR Cut-Off Filter가 차단하지 못한 미량의 적외선이 디지털화상에 미치는 영향 분석 (The analysis of the Effect the Minute Quantities of Infrared Rays that Were not Filtered by IR Cut-Off Filter has on Digital Images)

  • 분광특성의 차이로 필름은 자외선에 민감한데 반해 디지털 카메라의 센서는 적외선에 굉장히 민감하다. 이에 따라 CCD 또는 CMOS를 사용하는 모든 디지털 카메라에는 IR Cut-Off Filter가 센서전면에 장착되어 있다. 이상적으로 100% 적외선을 차단하여야 하지만 실험 결과 완전히 적외선을 차단하지 못하고 있었으며, 각 카메라마다 적외선 투과량 또한 달랐다. 따라서 본 연구는 디지털 카메라에 장착되어 있는 IR Cut-Off Filter의 기계적 특성에 의해 투과되는 미량의 적외선이 디지털 화상이미지에 끼치는 영향을 분석하는 데 그 목적이 있다. UV필터를 장착한 상태(적외선 투과상태)와 UV-IR필터를 장착한 상태(적외선미투과상태)를 비교분석한 결과, 잡음(Noise)과 색 재현력 평가에서는 그 차이가 미세하거나 거의 동등한 수준이지만, 동적 폭(Dynamic Range)과 해상도에는 IR Cut-Off Filter를 통해 투과되는 미량의 적외선이 어느 정도 영향이 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

지역무역협정(RTA)과 국가 간 무역량 결정요인 분석 (The Relation between Trade Volume and Regional Trade Agreements)

  • Using the gravity model, this paper analyzes empirically how the world trade in goods is affected by regional trade agreements(RTAs) which have been spreading rapidly since the mid-1990s. This paper attempt to do the panel data analysis about 174 countries during the period of 1994-2008. These panel data include 157 RTAs. It is meaningful that this paper uses comprehensive data to analyze the net effect of regional trade agreements on the global trade volume. This provides a clue as to the answer to the stumbling block debate raised early in the regional trade agreement. Also, confirming how the participation of the WTO affected the trade volume among the member countries, the WTO-related dummy variables are additionally introduced to this gravity model. And as far as we know, the state system-related variables is first considered in this model. This variable reflects the social and cultural environments of countries as the proxy variable representing the sociocultural homogeneity. In all regressions, joining to the WTO and consistency of the state system have a positive effect on increasing the trade volumes between countries. According to the analysis of RTA trade effects, RTAs, on average, increase the volume of trade within the RTA region by 27%~37%, and decrease the volume of trade between the regional and the non-regional nation by 1.2%~3.4%.Therefore, the net effect of regional trade agreements on the promotion of global welfare is positive. For robustness check, we also introduce the interaction term of the dummy variable which reflects the RTA tightening and the continuous variable which reflects the distance effect. As a result, the RTAs alleviate the trade-decreasing effect which is caused by the distance between the countries.

  • 계층버스 다중처리기 시스템에서 캐시 일관성 프로토콜은 시스템 성능에 영향을 준다. 특정 캐시 일관성 프로토콜 하에서 시스템의 성능은 버스의 대역폭 및 메모리크기, 메모리 블록의 크기에 따라 영향을 받는다. 따라서 시스템 성능에 영향을 미치는 요소들에 대한 민감도 분석이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 계층버스 다중처리기에 캐시 일관성 프로토콜을 적용하고, 프로토콜에서 정의된 상태가 나타날 확률을 구하였다. 구해진 확률값을 분석적 모델에 적용하여 시뮬레이션을 하였다. 그리고 시뮬레이션 결과를 기반으로 시스템의 성능에 영향을 미치는 요소에 대한 민감도 분석을 하였다.

  • 인장시험할 때 최대하중점을 넘으며 네킹이 발생하여 단면에 분포하는 응력이 더 이상 균일하지 않다. 네킹이 진행될수록 상당응력은 축방향 응력과 더 달라진다. 이 네킹현상을 극복하고 진응력-진변형도 곡선을 결정하는 방법이 이제까지 많이 연구개발되었다. 그 중에서 유한요소해석 시뮬레이션을 이용하는 방법이 매력적이다. 이 논문에서는 범용상용 프로그램을 사용하여 인장시험을 시뮬레이션하였다. 같은 강괴에서 채취한 봉상시편과 판상시편을 인장시험하고 시뮬레이션하였다. Hollomon 법칙을 가정하지 않고 진응력-진변형도 곡선을 결정하였다.

멀티스펙트랄 이미지 센서를 이용한 전자 지도 기반 변량 질소 살포 (Map-based Variable Rate Application of Nitrogen Using a Multi-Spectral Image Sensor)

  • Site-specific N application for corn is one of the precision crop management. To implement the site-specific N application, various nitrogen stress sensing methods, including aerial image, tissue analysis, soil sampling analysis, and SPAD meter readings, have been used. Use of side-dressing, an efficient nitrogen application method than a uniform application in either late fall or early spring, relies mainly on the capability of nitrogen deficiency detection. This paper presents map-based variable rate nitrogen application based using a multi-spectral corn nitrogen deficiency(CND) sensor. This sensor assess the nitrogen stress by means of the estimated SPAD reading calculated from the corn leave reflectance. The estimated SPAD value from the CND sensor system and location information form DGPS of each field block was combined into the field map using a ArcView program. Then this map was converted into a raster file for a map-based variable rate application software. The relative SPAD (RSPAD = SPAD over reference SPAD) was investigated 2 weeks after the treatments. The results showed that the map-based variable rate application system was feasible.
