  • A rigorous modeling of ultra-low energy implantation is becoming increasingly more important as devices shrink to deep submicron dimensions. In this paper, we have developed an efficient three-dimensional Monte Carlo ion implantation model based on a modified Binary Collision Approximation(BCA). To this purpose, the modified electronic stopping model and the multi-body collision model have been taken into account in this simulator. The dopant and damage profiles show very good agreement with SIMS(Secondary Ion Mass Spectroscopy) data and RBS(Rutherford Backscattering Spectroscopy) data, respectively. Moreover, the ion distribution replica method has been implemented into the model to get a computational efficiency in a 3D simulation, and we have calculated the 3D Monte Carlo simulation into the topographically complex structure.

  • In this paper, we proposed a new algorithm of pulse generation and detection for the UWB multimedia communication system. The existing UWB systems using Gaussian pulse have some difficulties to cope with bandwidth limitation and frequency transition. In this paper, we introduce a new pulse generation method, which is able to control the bandwidth and center frequency that applies to the frequency modulation method, thus the proposed algorithm could improve the detection performance of receiving. And we proposed the multi channel transmission algorithm which transmits 1 channel synthesized at same time using the wavelet synthesis filter. Because of wavelet filter's perfect reconstruction property, the BER(Bit Error Rate) of transmission data is not changed by the number of accessed user. BER is changed only the property of channel transmission. By the results of simulation, when shift SNR from 2dB to 8dB on AWGN channel, we confirmed that the proposed algerian has $3.9063{\times}10^{-4}$ BER at 4dB SNR(AWGN channel).

  • In this paper, a design of RISC-based transmission wrapper processor for TCP/IP protocol stack is described. The processor consists of input and output buffer memory with dual bank structure, 32-bit RISC microprocessor core, DMA unit with on-the-fly checksum capability, and memory module. To handle the various modes of TCP/IP protocol, hardware-software codesign approach based on RISC processor is used rather than the conventional state machine design. To eliminate large delay time due to sequential executions of data transfer and checksum operation, DMA module which can execute the checksum operation along with data transfer operation is adopted. The designed processor exclusive of variable-size input/output buffer consists of about 23,700 gates and its maximum operating frequency is about 167MHz under 0.35${\mu}m$ CMOS technology.

  • In this paper, we study the interference canceling and image sensing processing technology of multiple light sources for high speed transmission in CMOS sensor based visible light communication system. To improve transmission capacity in optical camera communications via image sensors, different data must be transmitted simultaneously from each LED. However, multiple LED light source environments for high-speed transmission can cause interference between adjacent LEDs. In this case, since the visible light communication system generally uses intensity modulation, when a plurality of LEDs transmit data at the same time, it is difficult to accurately detect the respective LEDs due to the light scattering interference of the adjacent LEDs. In order to solve this problem, the ON / OFF state of many LEDs of the light source is accurately recognized by using a dual CMOS sensor, and the spectral estimation technique and the pixel image signal processing technique of each LED are proposed. This technique can accurately recognize multiple LED pixels and improve the total average bit error rate and throughput of a MISO-VLC system.

  • In this paper, we present a modeling scheme for the already-installed two-wire home phone lines with arbitrary topologies and show that the inter-symbol interference due to the topology can be removed using an adaptive equalizer. The transmission characteristics of the arbitrary-configured two-wire home phone lines can be analyzed through the ABCD matrices. The simulation result shows that the impedance mismatch due to the branch lines renders nulls in the frequency response or delayed pulses in the impulse response. These nulls or delayed pulses cause inter-symbol interference that inhibits correct signal detection. An adaptive equalizer is shown to be effective in eliminating the interference. Also, the simulation result shows that the equalizer converges in 1.5 ms at a data rate of 1 Msps at signal-to-noise ratios greater than 15 dB. In addition, from the result of relation between E$\_$b//N$\_$and BER(Bit Error Rate), we can see that E$\_$b//N$\_$o/ more than 19 dB is required for the data communication with a BER less than 10$\^$-5/.

  • As the interest in ocean environment monitoring and ocean development has been increased, the need for researches on underwater wireless sensor network (UWSN) and low power consuming acoustic modem for UWSN has been arisen. In this paper, we design and implement a micro-modem equipped with a tiny and omnidirectional transducer for underwater acoustic communications. In addition, we make experiments in a water tank and a pond in order to verify the performance of the developed modem in terms of supply voltage and communication distance, and analyze the results. According to the outdoor experiments, the modem can send data wirelessly in underwater at a distance of 40 meter with a data rate of 200 bps and a bit error rate of $10^{-5}$ when the supply voltage is 12 V. Due to its small size, low power consumption and omnidirectional property, it is expected that the modem which is implemented in this paper could be utilized for various applications based on UWSN.

  • In this paper, we propose a MAC protocol for visible light wireless LAN using LED light. The proposed MAC protocol has a function of automatic direction optimization for LED transceiver. There is periodical time slot for broadcasting and registration in the proposed MAC protocol. We used polling method for data transfer in the protocol since visible light is hard to detect carrier and collision by other mobile stations; thus we cannot use CSMA/CD method in visible light LAN. We also amended the MAC frame of IEEE 802.11 to propose a revised version for visible light wireless LAN using LED light. We investigate the performance of the proposed MAC protocol. When the bit rate of physical layer is 100 Mb/s, the net data throughput using the proposed MAC protocol is estimated to 94.386 Mb/s.

  • Analog-to-Digital converters (ADCs) used in instrumentation and measurements often require high absolute accuracy, including excellent linearity and negligible dc offset. Incremental converters provide a solution for such measurement applications, as they retain most of the advantages of conventional ${\Delta}{\Sigma}$ converters, and yet they are capable of offset-free and accurate conversion. Most of the previous research on incremental converters was for single-channel and dc signal applications, where they can perform extremely accurate data conversion with more than 20-bit resolution. In this paper, a design technique for implementing multiplexed incremental data converters to convert narrow bandwidth ac signals is discussed. A design methodology to optimize the signal-to-quantization+thermal noise ratio of multiplexed IDC is presented. It incorporates the operation principle, topology, and digital decimation filter design. The theoretical results are verified by simulation results.

  • Cable modems typically are implemented by a forward error correction(FEC) scheme. The ITU-T Recommendation J-38 Annex B specifies using 64- and 256- quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) and extended RS coding scheme. In implementing the cable modem, there are some problems to fabricate and fitting on FPGA chip. First, many clocks are needed in implementing cable modem because of different code rate and different modulation types. To reduce the number of clocks, we use the two memories, which are different clock speed for reading and writing data. Second, this system lost the bit-synchronization and frame-synchronization in decoder, the system recognize that all data is error. This paper solves the problems by using simple 5-stage registers and unique sync-word. Based on solutions for about problems, the cable modem is fabricated on FPGA chip name as Vertex II pro xc2vp30-5 by Xilinx, and we confirmed the effectiveness of the results.
