A method was presented for determination of bisphenol F(BPF), bisphenol A(BPA), bisphenol F diglycidyl ether(BFDGE) and bisphenol A diglycidyl ether(BADGE) in 3 aqueous-based food simulants (water, 4% acetic acid, 20% ethanol) by reverse-phase high performance liquid chromatography(RP-HPLC)with fluorescence detection and gas chromatography with mass selective detection(GC/MSD). All the calibration lines in the range of $5{\sim}800\;{\mu}g/L$ had correlation coefficients greater than 0.9998 and detection limits of less than $1.2\;{\mu}g$ bisphenols/L. Precision at $200\;{\mu}g/L$ was under 3.1%. Recoveries of bisphenols simultaneously spiked to aqueous food simulants exceeded 95% for BPF and BPA but about 80% for BFDGE and BADGE. However, recoveris of BFDGE and BPADGE respectively spiked increased upto 95%. Detection limits in recovery test were less than $0.40\;{\mu}g$ bisphenols/L. In migration test bisphenols were determined by RP-HPLC coupled with confirmation by GC/MSD. Can coatings of epoxy phenol, modified epoxy, epoxy ester phenol and thermoset vinyl were exposed to the 3 aqueous food simulants. BPF, BFDGE and BADGE were not detected in all the can coatings but BPA was detected in 4% acetic acid and 20% ethanol in all the can coatings except modified epoxy.
A suitable method of sample treatments to minimize the analytical interferences was presented in order to determine bisphenols [bisphenol F (BPF), bisphenol A (BPA), bisphenol F diglycidyl ether (BFDGE), and bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (BADGE)] in various canned beverages coated with epoxy resin by the reversephase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) equipped with a fluorescence detector and the gas chromatography with mass selective detection. The recovery test of bisphenols was performed using 1, 5, and 10 ${\mu}g/L$ bisphenols spiked beverages with the combined technique of the solid-phase extraction (SPE) and the liquid-phase extraction (LPE). Both BPA and BADGE showed quite adequate resolutions in HPLC-chromatograms. The recoveries of BPA obtained by LPE with diethyl ether were higher than those obtaind with methylene chloride on coffee, shikhye and fruit juice. For cola and tea, the recoveries of BPA obtaind by SPE were higher than those by LPE with diethyl ether. The recoveries of BADGE were less than those of BPA for all beverage samples treated by either SPE or LPE method. In survey of bisphenols for eighteen commercial canned beverage samples, BPA contents of coffee, cola, tea, shikhye, and fruit juice were in the range of $1.3{\sim}11.6,\;0.5{\sim}0.9,\;1.0{\sim}1.3,\;2.4{\sim}7.9$, and $3.0{\sim}3.4\;{\mu}g/L$, respectively, but there was no detection of BPA in beer sample.
A series of alternating and alternating block copolycarbonates containing the constituent groups of polysulfone was synthesized through a multi-step solution condensation method. For the regulation of block length, monodisperse oligomers were prepared by using a large excess of the bisphenols and were subsequently incorporated into the copolymer chains. Separating the unreacted bisphenols from the oligomers by dissolution/precipitation steps took advantage of solubility differences. The structures of the monomers, oligomers, and copolymers were characterized and confirmed by GPC, NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis. Monodispersity of the oligomers, which is critical for control over the block length in the copolymers, was confirmed by GPC and mass spectrometry. Of the two constituent groups of the polysulfone, the sulfone linkage stiffens the polycarbonate copolymer chain, while the ether linkage softens it.
Bisphenol A(BPA), known as a typical endocrine disruptor, has been used commercially and widely for plastics and epoxy resins. BPA-based plastic is used extensively for the production of water bottles, food containers, CDs, DVDs, and panels that can be applied in construction. Epoxy resins containing BPA are used for coatings on the insides of water pipes, food cans, and thermal papers that are used in sales receipts. As its estrogenic effects and other adverse health effects have published, BPA has been regulated in many countries, and there have been efforts made to replace BPA. Other bisphenols substitutes such as bisphenol S(BPS) and bisphenol F(BPF) have been used. Currently, BPS- and BPF-based products labeled BPA-free products have been widely consumed. Because of structural similarities with BPA, however, these alternatives also show endocrine disruption effects like BPA, and many studies on adverse health effects of these alternatives are being reported. In this review, we describe the adverse health effects of bisphenols and the current status of regulation.

1. Performance of RO membrane depends on chain structure (packing density) 2. Crosslinking of main chain is essential for the high performance RO membranes 3. Various bisphenols and polyaminostyrene can be promising materials for the fabrication of RO membranes. 4. By using of blend technique of reactant, we can expect broad spectrum of RO membrane and synergetic effects in membrane performance.
Objectives: Although a great body of knowledge is available on the toxicity of bisphenol A (BPA), little is known about that of BPA alternatives, such as bisphenol analogues (BPs) or $Tritan^{TM}$ copolyesters. This review provides a summary of the available information on the toxicity of BPs and three components of $Tritan^{TM}$, with a special focus on endocrine disruption. Methods: We collected from the literature a battery of in vitro and in vivo assay data developed to assess endocrine disruption of four BPs (bisphenol AF, B, F, and S) and three major components of $Tritan^{TM}$ ((di-methylterephthalate (DMT), 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol (CHDM), and 2,2,4,4-tetramethyl-1,3-cyclobutanediol (TMCD)). Results: Several alternative compounds were identified as possessing comparable or even greater endocrinedisrupting effects than BPA in in vitro and in vivo studies. Conclusions: Potential endocrine disruption of BPA alternatives requires further studies on health consequences in experimental animals and in humans following longer term exposure.

Background: Exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) has been considered one of the main causes of a range of endocrine diseases in modern society. An EDC priority list considering exposure, toxicity, and societal concern should be established for EDC management. Methods: The chemical ranking and scoring (CRS) system for EDCs was based on exposure, toxicity, and societal concern. The exposure score system was based on usage, circulation volume, bioaccumulation, and detection in consumer products. The toxicity score system was based on carcinogenicity and reproductive and developmental toxicity. The societal concern score system was based on domestic or international regulations and mass media reports. Results: A total of 165 EDCs were considered in the CRS system. The top-five priority EDCs were Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), Benzene, Bisphenol A, Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and Trichloroethylene. Phthalates, bisphenols and parabens were identified as priority chemical groups. Conclusion: We developed a CRS system for EDCs to identify priority EDCs for management. This will be a foundation to provide an EDC management plan based on scientific decision-making.
A study was done on the synthesis of new poly(arylene ether)s and poly(arylenesulfide) with rigid benzoxazole pendants using nucleophilic aromatic substitution reaction. As a new aromatic monomer, 1,4-bis(2-benzox-azolyl)-2,5-difluorobenzene [I] w as synthesized in three steps starting from 1,4-dibromo-2,5-difluorobenzene. A model reaction of difluoro monomer [I] with two equivalents of m-cresol or thiophenol in a typical ether con-densation reaction conditions gave very high yields ( > 93%) of the desired disubstituted product, suggesting the feasibility of polymer formation in these reaction system. Monomer[I] was polymerized with bisphenols and bisbenzenethiol in NMP using K2CO3 as base. The molecular weight of the resulting polymers, however, seemed relatively low according to their solution viscosity values ( ηinh = 0.15-0.29 dL/g). The poly(arylene ether)s were soluble in several common organic solvents including chloroform, pyridine and N,N'-dimethylfor-mamide. The poly(arylene sulfide) was, however, ony soluble in strong acids like sulfuric acid and trifluoro-acetic acid. The glass transition temperatures were found to be 175-215 $^{\circ}C.$ These polymers were stable up to 380-420 $^{\circ}C$ in both nitrogen and air, as determined by the temperature that a significant weight loss began to appear on TGA.
Laccase activity is influenced by copper (Cu) as an inducer. In this study, laccase was immobilized on Cu and Cu-magnetic (Cu/Fe2O4) nanoparticles (NPs) to improve enzyme stability and potential applications. The Cu/Fe2O4 NPs functionally activated by 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane and glutaraldehyde exhibited an immobilization yield and relative activity (RA) of 93.1 and 140%, respectively. Under optimized conditions, Cu/Fe2O4 NPs showed high loading of laccase up to 285 mg/g of support and maximum RA of 140% at a pH 5.0 after 24 h of incubation (4℃). Immobilized laccase, as Cu/Fe2O4-laccase, had a higher optimum pH (4.0) and temperature (45℃) than those of a free enzyme. The pH and temperature profiles were significantly improved through immobilization. Cu/Fe2O4-laccase exhibited 25-fold higher thermal stability at 65℃ and retained residual activity of 91.8% after 10 cycles of reuse. The degradation of bisphenols was 3.9-fold higher with Cu/Fe2O4-laccase than that with the free enzyme. To the best of our knowledge, Rhus vernicifera laccase immobilization on Cu or Cu/Fe2O4 NPs has not yet been reported. This investigation revealed that laccase immobilization on Cu/Fe2O4 NPs is desirable for efficient enzyme loading and high relative activity, with remarkable bisphenol A degradation potential.
Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are compounds that come from outside the body and disrupt hormone action within the body's endocrine system. Examples include parabens, benzophenones, bisphenols, and phthalates, which are currently used in a wide range of applications. However, continuous exposure to them can have negative effects on glycemic control, reproduction, metabolism, nervous system development, pregnancy, childbirth, and growth. In this study, human samples (urine) were pretreated using liquid-liquid-extraction to determine the exposure level of EDCs and then analyzed effectively and rapidly by UPLC-MS/MS. In this way, the analytical conditions were established and the reliability of the simultaneous analysis method was evaluated through method validation. The results showed that the accuracy ranged from 75.28 to 122.36% and the precision ranged from 2.16 to 22.74%. The analytical method established in this study can be used as a methodology for future studies to evaluate and monitor the exposure of EDCs in human samples.
