To serve the growing demand of the bidirectional information exchange, we propose a single relay selection (RS) scheme for physical-layer network coding (PNC) in a bidirectional cooperative network consisting of two sources and multiple relays. This RS scheme selects a single best relay by maximizing the bottleneck of the capacity region of both information flows in the bidirectional network. We show that the proposed RS rule minimizes the outage probability and that it can be used as a performance benchmark for any RS rules with PNC. We derive a closed-form exact expression of the outage probability for the proposed RS rule and show that it achieves full diversity gain. Finally, numerical results demonstrate the validity of our analysis.

Two-way relay channel is a bidirectional cooperative communication channel that two terminals communicate each other with the help of a relay. In the previous cooperative communication schemes, a relay uses two divided resources for bidirectional transmission. When a network coding is used at a relay, the relay can transmit bidirectional data to two terminals simultaneously using one resource only. Thus the throughput of this scheme is greater than that of the previous scheme. In this paper, we showa two-way cooperative ARQ protocol using network coding and the throughput of this protocol is analyzed using a state diagram.

The paper considers MIMO two-way scheme to optimize the end to end capacity in local wireless mesh network. The basic idea is to perform data transmission via intermediate cooperative nodes and cooperative relay therefore higher throughput can be achieved. Each node is equipped with multiple antennas, and has two time slots one for transmission (Tx) and the other is reception (Rx), which are arranged alternatively in the network. In the conventional SISO network, it takes at least four time slots to accomplish the function of two-way relay. Moreover, cooperative technique is used in order to enhance multiplexing of forward and backward streams.

This paper investigates the energy efficiency of energy harvesting (EH) bidirectional cooperative sensor networks, in which the considered system model enables the uplink information transmission from the sensor (SN) to access point (AP) and the energy supply for the amplify-and-forward (AF) relay and SN using power-splitting (PS) or time-switching (TS) protocol. Considering the minimum EH activation constraint and quality of service (QoS) requirement, energy efficiency is maximized by jointly optimizing the resource division ratio and transmission power. To cope with the non-convexity of the optimizations, we propose the low complexity iterative algorithm based on fractional programming and alternative search method (FAS). The key idea of the proposed algorithm first transforms the objective function into the parameterized polynomial subtractive form. Then we decompose the optimization into two convex sub-problems, which can be solved by conventional convex programming. Simulation results validate that the proposed schemes have better output performance and the iterative algorithm has a fast convergence rate.

In this paper, we propose a simple bidirectional transmission protocol using network coding and digital Fountain codes. In particular, in the proposed scheme, two sources use digital Fountain codes to transmit their message to each other with the help of relays. Then, relays use Fountain codes and network coding to forward the source messages to both sources. To evaluate performance of the proposed protocols, we present the average total throughput over Rayleigh fading channels via Various Monte-Carlo simulations. Results show that the proposed protocol outperforms the two-way relaying transmission protocol without using network coding technique at high SNR region.

In this paper, we maximize the lifetime of a multi-hop path through a cooperative wireless energy sharing scheme between constituent nodes in a wireless multi-hop communication. Considering a bidirectional multi-hop communication environment, we present an optimization problem to maximize path lifetime by adjusting the amount of energy each node needs to share with its neighboring nodes. On the basis of solidarity property, i.e., the lifetime of the multi-hop path is maximized when the lifetimes of all nodes are the same, we convert the considered optimization problem into a linear programming problem and solve it easily. Simulation result shows that the proposed two-way wireless energy sharing method maximizes the path lifetime of multi-hop communications and approximately doubles the path lifetime compared with the one-way energy sharing method.

In this paper, we propose an incremental cooperative transmission protocol in two-way underlay cognitive radio networks. In the proposed protocol, two secondary sources attempt to transmit their packet to each other with help of a secondary relay under interference constraint. For performance evaluation, we derive exact closed-form expressions of average outage probability over Rayleigh fading channel. Then, we perform Monte Carlo simulations to verify the derivations. Results present that the simulation and theoretical results are in good agreement and the outage performance of the proposed protocol is better than that of two-way direct transmission protocol.

A two-way relay channel is a bidirectional cooperative communication channel between two nodes using a relay. In many cooperative communication schemes, a relay transmits its data to each node using separate channels. However, in the two-way relay channel, a relay can broadcast the network-coded signal to both nodes in a same time slot, which can increase the system throughput. In this paper, a new cooperative network error correcting scheme using distributed turbo code in a two-way relay channel is proposed. The proposed scheme not only increases the system throughput using network code but also improves the performance by utilizing the LLR information from relay node and other user node through distributed turbo code. Also, a power allocation scheme is investigated for various channel conditions to improve the system performance.

This paper investigates the spectrum hole utilization of cooperative schemes for the two-way relaying model in order to improve the utilization efficiency of limited spectrum holes in cognitive radio networks with imperfect spectrum sensing. We propose two specific bidirectional secondary data transmission (BSDT) schemes with two-step and three-step two-way relaying models, i.e., two-BSDT and three-BSDT schemes, where the spectrum sensing and the secondary data transmission are jointly designed. In the proposed cooperative schemes, the best two-way relay channel between two secondary users is selected from a group of secondary users serving as cognitive relays and assists the bi-directional communication between the two secondary users without a direct link. The closed-form asymptotic expressions for outage probabilities of the two schemes are derived with a primary user protection constraint over Rayleigh fading channels. Based on the derived outage probabilities, the spectrum hole utilization is calculated to evaluate the percentage of spectrum holes used by the two secondary users for their successful information exchange without channel outage. Numerical results show that the spectrum hole utilization depends on the spectrum sensing overhead and the channel gain from a primary user to secondary users. Additionally, we compare the spectrum hole utilization of the two schemes as the varying of secondary signal to noise ratio, the number of cognitive relays, and symmetric and asymmetric channels.

The aim of this study is to analyze the effect of the growing activities of large purchasing enterprises on the trust of small and medium size contractors, which is mediated by 'purchase accompany activity'. This subject study includes the first and second contractor companies in Korea. The results of this study are as follow. First, the knowledge and cost price sharing activities of major purchase vendor with cooperative company had a positive effect on the trust of cooperative company, however this was not so with the information sharing activities in that case. Second, the trust of contractors on large purchasing enterprises was positively influenced by sharing activities with purchasing activities of major company. Third, the knowledge and cost price sharing activities of purchasing enterprise with contractors on the sharing activities were mediated by the trust of contracting company on the large purchase enterprise. According to this study, the mediated effect of trust relationship can influence a contracting company. Whereas preceding studies of sharing activities were conducted about unidirectional instruct of large purchase enterprises to small and medium size contracting companies, this study was conducted on bidirectional effects, which included knowledge, cost price, information sharing activities between contracting companies and large purchasing enterprises. Conclusively, this study showed the possibility of spreading cognitive and change about mutual benefits strategy between small and medium size contracting company and large purchasing enterprise.
