  • Aircraft observations constitute one of the major sources of temperature observations which provide three-dimensional information. But it is well known that the aircraft temperature data have warm bias against sonde observation data, and therefore, the correction of aircraft temperature bias is important to improve the model performance. In this study, the algorithm of the bias correction modified from operational KMA (Korea Meteorological Administration) global model is adopted in the preprocessing of aircraft observations, and the effect of the bias correction of aircraft temperature is investigated by conducting the two experiments. The assimilation with the bias correction showed better consistency in the analysis-forecast cycle in terms of the differences between observations (radiosonde and GPSRO (Global Positioning System Radio Occultation)) and 6h forecast. This resulted in an improved forecasting skill level of the mid-level temperature and geopotential height in terms of the root-mean-square error. It was noted that the benefits of the correction of aircraft temperature bias was the upper-level temperature in the midlatitudes, and this affected various parameters (winds, geopotential height) via the model dynamics.

  • The spatial potential distribution of electron cyclotron resonance plasma is measured as a function of tehsubstrate DC bias by Langmuir probe method. It is observed that the substrate DC bias changes the slope of the plasma potential near the subsrate, resulting in changes in flux and energy of the impinging ions across plasma $_strate boundary along themagnetric field. The effect of the substrate DC bias on the low-temperature silicon homoepitaxy (below $560^{\circ}C$) is examine dby in situ reflection high energy electron diffraction (RHEED), cross-section transmission electron microscopy (XTEM),plan-view TEM and high resolution transmision electron microscopy(HRTEM). While the polycrystalline silicon layers are grow withnegative substrate biases, the single crystaline silicon layers are grown with negative substrate biases, the singel crystalline silicon layers are grown with positive substrate biases. As the substrate bias changes form negative to positive values, the growth rate decreases. It is concluded that the control of the ion energy during plasma deposition is very important in silicon epitaxy at low temperatures below $560^{\circ}C$ by UHV-ECRCVD.VD.

  • Mg thin films were prepared on SPCC(cold-rolled steel) substrates by vasuum evapoaration and ion-plating. The influence of argon gas pressure and substrates bias voltage on the crystal orientation and morphology of the film was determined by using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron micrography (SEM), respectively. And the effect of crystal orientation and morphology of the Mg thin films on corrosion behavior was estimated by measuring the anodic polarization curves in deaerated 3% NaCl solution. The crystal orientation of the Mg films deposited at high argon gas pressure exhibited a (002) preferred orientation, regardless of the substrate bias voltage. Film morphology changed from a columnar to a granular structure with the increase of argon gas pressure. The morphology of the films depended not only on argon gas pressure but also bias voltage ; i.e., the effect of increasing bias voltage was similar to that of decreasing argon gas pressure. The influences of argon gas pressure and bias voltage were explained by applying the adsorption inhibitor theory and the sputter theory. And also, this showed that the corrosion resistance of the Mg thin films can be changed by controlling the crystal orientaton and morphology.

  • We investigated the exchange bias fields at the NiFe/FeMn and FeMn/CoFe interfaces in 18.9-nm NiFe/15.0-nm FeMn/17.6-nm CoFe trilayer thin films as the annealing temperature was varied from room temperature to $250^{\circ}C$ in a vacuum for 1 hour in a magnetic field of 150 Oe. Interestingly, magnetic hysteresis (M-H) measurements showed that NiFe/FeMn/CoFe trilayer thin films exhibited a completely contrasting variation of the exchange bias fields at both the NiFe/FeMn and FeMn/CoFe interfaces with annealing temperatures. High-angle X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements indicated the absence of any discernible effect of thermal treatment on the NiFe(111) and FeMn(111) peaks. The compositional depth profile obtained from X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) results presented the asymmetric compositional depth profiles of the Mn and Fe atoms throughout the FeMn layer. We contend that this asymmetric compositional depth profile and the preferential Mn diffusion into the NiFe layer, compared to that into the CoFe layer, are conclusive experimental evidence of the contrasting variation of the exchange bias fields at two interfaces having a common polycrystalline FeMn(111) layer.

  • Al doped Zinc Oxide(ZnO:Al) films, which is widely used as a transparent conductor in optoelectronic devices such as solar cell, liquid crystal display, plasma display panel, thermal heater, and other sensors, were prepared by using the capacitively coupled DC magnetron sputtering method. The influence of the substrate temperature, working gas pressure, discharge power and doping amounts of Al on the electrical, optical and morphological properties were investigated experimentally. The effect of bias voltage on the electrical properties of ZnO thin film were also studied. Films with lowest resistivity of $5.4{\times}10^{-4}\;{\Omega}-cm$ have been achieved in case of films deposited at 1mtorr, $400^{\circ}C$ with a substrate bias of +10V for 840nm in film thickness.

  • "How does advertising affect sales?" is the fundamental issue of modern advertising research. There is an interesting issue for estimating carryover effects of advertising on sales, and the aggregated data biases exist in the duration of advertising effect. This research suggests an extended model of Koyck Model which is employed for micro-data (Koyck 1954) to estimate aggregated advertising data, and empirically shows the aggregated data bias. Our developed model with the aggregated level of actual advertising data is more appropriate than the basic Koyck model for micro-data. The result figures out that it is important to consider the disaggregated data level in the analysis of dynamic effects of adverting such as carryover effects.

  • Vibration and acoustic noise arise from the Multilayer Ceramic Capacitor (MLCC) because of the piezoelectric effect of dielectric substance which consists of $BaTiO_3$. However, the phenomenon is not analyzed clearly because the MLCC shows different behavior compare with ordinary piezoelectric substance like PZT. Thus, MLCC was tested under the several DC bias conditions and heat treatment effect was also tested and analyzed in this paper. From the test, MLCC shows not only piezoelectric effect but also another physical phenomenon like electrostriction. Also, it was verified that DC bias affect to the piezoelectric constant of MLCC.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this meta-analysis was to examine the effects of microcurrent on inflammatory musculoskeletal diseases. Methods : Domestic databases (RISS, NDSL, KISS, DBpia, and Kmbase) were searched for studies that conducted clinical trials associated with microcurrent and its impact on inflammatory musculoskeletal diseases. A total of 606 studies published between 2002 and 2019 were identified, with 8 studies satisfying the inclusion data. The studies were classified according to patient, intervention, comparison, and outcome (PICO). The search outcomes were items associated with blood component, pain, and function. The 8 studies that were included in the study were evaluated using R meta-analysis (version 4.0). The quality of 7 randomized control trials was evaluated using Cochrane risk of bias (ROB). The quality of 1 non-randomized control trial was evaluated using risk of bias assessment tool for non-randomized studies (RoBANS). Effect sizes were computed as the corrected standard mean difference (SMD). A random-effect model was used to analyze the effect size because of the high heterogeneity among the studies. Egger's regression test was carried out to analyze the publishing bias. Results : The following factors had a large effect size involving microcurrent on inflammatory musculoskeletal diseases: blood component (Hedges's g=-2.46, 95 % CI=-4.20~-0.73), pain (Hedges's g=3.51, 95 % CI=2.44~4.77), and function (Hedges's g=3.06, 95 % CI: 1.53~4.58). Except for function (t=1.572, p=.191), Egger's regression test showed that the publishing bias had statistically significant differences. Conclusion : This study provides evidence for the effectiveness of microcurrent on inflammatory musculoskeletal diseases in terms of blood component, pain, and function. However, due to the small sample sizes used in the included studies, the results of our study should be interpreted cautiously, especially considering the publishing bias.

  • Objectives : This study aimed to examine the mediating effect of sleep quality and interpretation bias for ambiguity in the relationship between hopelessness and suicidal ideation in psychiatric patients. Methods : A total of 231 psychiatric outpatients and inpatients completed the Beck Hopelessness Scale, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Ambiguous/Unambiguous Situations Diary-Extended Version, and Ultra-Short Suicidal Ideation Scale. Data analysis was conducted using regression analyses and bootstrap sampling. Results : The results of this study showed that hopelessness had a direct effect on suicidal ideation, and that sleep quality and interpretation bias for ambiguity mediated the association between hopelessness and suicidal ideation. Moreover, there was a significant double mediating effect of sleep quality and interpretation bias for ambiguity on the relationship between hopelessness and suicidal ideation. Conclusions : These results suggest that it is important to consider both sleep quality and interpretation bias for ambiguity to prevent hopelessness from leading to suicidal idea. These results suggest that considering both sleep quality and interpretation bias for ambiguity may be important in preventing hopelessness from leading to suicidal ideation.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the effects of electrical stimulation on patients with non-specific low back pain. Methods : Domestic databases were gathered from studies that conducted clinical trials associated with electrical stimulation and its impact on pain of non-specific low back patients. A total of 681 studies were identified, with 12 studies satisfying the inclusion data. The studies consisted of patient, intervention, comparison, outcome, and study design (PICO-SD). The search outcomes were items associated with low back pain. Cochrane risk of bias 2 (RoB 2) was used to evaluate the quality of 12 randomized controlled trials. Effect sizes (Hedges's g) in this study were computed as the corrected standard mean difference (SMD). A random-effect model was used to analyze the effect size because of the high heterogeneity among the studies. Egger's regression and 'trim-and-fill' tests were carried out to analyze the publication bias. Cumulative meta-analysis and sensitivity analysis were conducted to analyze the effect according to the sample size and the consistency of the effect size. Results : The following factors had a large overall effect size (Hedges's g=1.28, 95 % CI=.20~2.36) involving electrical stimulation on non-specific low back pain. The subgroup analysis all showed a statistical difference in the types of study design, electrical stimulation, and assessment tool. No statistically significant difference was found in the meta-regression analysis. Publican bias was found in the data. Conclusion : The findings in this study indicate that electrical stimulation interventions have a positive effect on patients with non-specific low back pain. However, due to the low quality of studies and publication bias, the results of our study should be interpreted cautiously.
