  • Objectives: Bi Jeung (비증) is a pain syndrome derivative of pathological patterns of East Asian medicine. The purpose of this study was to develop a self-rated questionnaire for Bi Jeung. Methods: Twelve questionnaire items for Bi Jeung (3 items for the Wind Bi, 5 items for the Cold Bi, and 4 items for the Dampness Bi) were extracted through the literature review. These items were presented to the 18 Korean medical doctors who specialized in pain medicine to conduct two sessions of the Delphi method. The Korean medical doctors were asked to rate the importance of each item for the corresponding Bi syndromes, using a Likert 7-point scale, and were asked to propose which item should be additionally included to increase determinant power to each Bi syndrome. We determined the 4 points of the importance as a cut-off point of each item. Results: Through two sessions of the Delphi method, two items were deleted because their mean values of the importance were below 4 point. Korean medical doctors proposed to add three items for the Bi Jeung. However, the mean values of only two among the three items were over 4 points, so finally 12 items (3 items for the Wind Bi, 5 items for the Cold Bi, and 4 items for the Damp Bi) were determined for the Bi Jeung questionnaire. Conclusions: It is concluded that a 12 item-Bi Jeung questionnaire comprising the three subcategories of the Bi Jeung (Wind, Cold, and Dampness Bis) possesses contents validity through literature review and Delphi methods.

For example it can be gout or SLE etc. says that Bi is combination of PungHanSeup. And many doctors said that BiJeung is caused by food, fatigue, sex, stress and change of weather. Therefore we must treat BiJeung by character of patients and characteristic of the disease. Many famous doctors studied medical science by their fathers or teachers. So the history of medical science is long. So I studied ${\ll}Bijeungjujip{\gg}$. II. Final Decision 1. JoGeumTak(趙金鐸) devided BiJeung into Pung, Han, Seup and EumHeo, HeulHeo, YangHeo, GanSinHeo by charcter or reaction of pain. And he use DaeJinGyoTang, GyegiGakYakJiMoTang, SamyoSan, etc. 2. They are very useful for treatment of BiJeung because they can remove EoHyeol(瘀血). 3. SeolMaeng(薛盟) said that the actual cause of BiJeung is Seup. • Objectives Through the clinical records of Seungjeongwon Ilgi, we reviewed the usage of Bi-Jeung to know the concept of the word and studied therapeutic strategies for managing Bi-Jeung. Methods We investigated the clinical records of the mid-Chosun dynasty containing the key word "Bi" from electronic database (Seungjeongwon Ilgi). Results Of 4,039 records, 249 articles thought to have medicinal value were lastly selected. We subdivided the cases into 13 categories according to time, the connection of contents and the change of associated symptoms. "Bi" was not used alone but used in combination with body parts or other symptoms. Etiological causes of "Bi" involved dampness, phlegm, fire, heat and qi disorders. We suggested that "Bi" of the mid-Chosun dynasty meant a symptom group mainly of sensory impairment and additionally pain or motor disturbance. Among the 22 herbal medicine formulas used, 15 were based on internal medical pattern identifications and 7 were symptomatic treatments. Acupuncture and moxibustion therapy were primarily applied to adjacent acupoints. In addition, External therapies were used together, such as washing therapy, plaster therapy, cupping therapy and thermotherapy. Conclusions "Bi" principally indicated sensory impairment on limbs and the main etiological cause was considered to be dampness. Herbal medicine, acupuncture, moxibustion and external therapies were used to cure Bi-Jeung.

Son-Bal Jeorim belong to peripheral neuropathy in western medicine. 4. Syndrome of acute motor paralysis with variable disturbance of sensory and autonomic function, subacute sensorymotor paralysis, syndrome of chronic sensorimotor polyneuropathy, neuropathy with mitochondrial disease, syndrome of mononeuropathy or nerve plexusopathy. 5. Peripheral neuropathy is caused by carpal tunnel syndrome, diabetic neuropathy, uremic neuropathy, hepatic neuropathy, hypothyroid neuropathy, hyperthyroid neuropathy, neuropathy due to malnutrition, neuropathy due to toxic material, neuropathy due to drug, paraneoplastic neuropathy, hereditary neuropathy, etc. 6. Cerebral apoplexy, myelopathy, peripheral circulatory disturbance, anxiety syndrome cause symptoms of peripheral neuropathy

  • The phase transfer catalysis(PTC) reagent, ethyl tri-octyl ammonium bromide(ETABr), strongly catalyzes the reaction of p-nitrophenyi diphenyl phosphinate(p-NPDPIN) with benzimidazole(BI) and its anion($BI^{\theta}$). In ETABr solutions, the dephosphorylation reactions exhibit higher first order kinetics with respect to the nucleophile, BI, and ETABr, suggesting that reactions are occuring in small aggregates of the three species including the sub-strate(p-NPDPIN), whereas the reaction of p-NPDPIN with $OH^{\theta}$ is not catalyzed by ETABr. This behavior for the drastic rate-enhancement of the dephosphorylation is referred as 'aggregation complex model' for reaction of hydrophobic organic phosphinates with benzimidazole(BI) in hydrophobic quarternary ammonium salt(ETABr) solutions.
