  • The effect of mating duration and multiple use of male on fecundity and fertility was investigated in the hybrids of Silkworm, Bombyx mori L. One hour to five hours of mating duration did not affect egg laying (fecundity) significantly, while fertilization affected significantly. Below 50% fertility was noticed when mating duration was reduced to below two hours. Similarly multiple use of male caused significant reduction in fertility but not fecundity. Till fourth mating no significant reduction in fertility was observed, thereafter fertility reduced considerably.

  • Ultrasonic spectroscopy is likely to become a very powerful NDE method for detection of microfects and thickness measurement of thin film below the limit of ultrasonic distance resolution in the opaque materials, provides a useful information that cannot be obtained by a conventional ultrasonic measuring system. In this paper, we considered a thin film below the limit of ultrasonic distance resolution sandwitched between two substances as acoustical analysis model, demonstrated the usefulness of ultrasonic spectroscopic analysis technique using information of ultrasonic frequency for measurements of thin film thickness, regardless of interference phenomenon and phase reversion of ultrasonic waveform. By using frequency intervals(${\triangle}f$) of periodic minima from the ratio of reference power spectrum of reflective waveform obtained a sample to power spectrum of multiple reflective waves obtained interference phenomenon caused by ultrasonic waves reflected at the upper and lower surfaces of a thin layer, can measured even dimensions of interest are smaller than the ultrasonic wave length with simplicity and accuracy.

  • The research was done against female workers in public officers to find out the actual conditions and usage of uniforms worn in government and other public offices, to find out the degree of their satisfaction for it's appearance, costs, functions and representation. The research was done by questioning 402 female workers about their uniforms in various government and other public offices and the results analysed from the research are as it follows below. 1. The shape of uniforms in public offices were mostly in three piece(jacket+vest+skirt) shape, many of them in gray color and the material were made of blended fabrics. 2. The satisfactory garde of the uniform couldn't even reach the level of '3 point', in which it is easy to tell that the workers had low satisfaction with their uniforms. The level of satisfaction in it's appearance, functions, costs and representation were below average, the rankings starting with functions, representation, appearance, costs and it was shown that the most satisfied category was in it's functions and the lest in costs.

  • This study investigates residents' living satisfaction with high-rise, mixed-use apartments built in the structures of reinforced concrete construction(RC) and with steel framed, reinforced concrete construction(SRC). The following study results were obtained: 1) Residents expressed below average satisfaction (below 3.0) with the common-area landscape and environmentally-friendly factors, children's playground and its facilities, community service for residents' by the management offices and utility plan. 2) According to the satisfaction of sound environment, residents of the SRC group expressed above average satisfaction. It can be concluded that noise problems around the residential area of the SRC group was well solved in this study. However, the residents of the SRC group expressed low satisfaction with the freshness of indoor air, humidity, and smell in the living quarters. 3) High-rise, mixed-use apartments should accommodate a familial life cycle, be designed as an environmentally friendly resting place in harmony with city life, and provide various communal programs for residents.

  • This study sought to compare beliefs regarding injury, accidents, and prevention behaviors between mothers and teachers in childcare centers. The subjects were 252 mothers whose children were aged between 1 and 4 years old and 264 teachers in childcare centers. The data were analyzed using t-tests, ANOVA, and partial correlation. Our results were as follows; 1) Mothers believed that by experiencing minor injuries young children would learn to recognize risk and develop their abilities to endure pain. Mothers engaged in prevention behaviors in accidents less when compared to teachers in childcare centers. 2) Mothers and teachers in childcare centers whose ages were below 30-years-old and whose education levels were below high school tended to believe young children would learn to recognize risk through accidents, and they engaged in prevention behaviors in accidents less. 3) There was a negative correlation between injury beliefs and prevention behaviors in accidents.

  • In this study, the rheological properties of cement pastes containing blastfurnace slag of different fineness were investigated. The fluidity of cement pastes with low Blaine value blastfurnace slag was increased with decreasing the plastic viscosity and the yield stress of pastes. And the optimum dosage of polycarboxylate type superplasticizer to the cement pastes was confirmed according to the fineness and the replacement ratio of blastfurnace slag. All cement pastes showed the thixotropy behavior. And also it was formed that the segregation range of cement pastes was occurred below $10D/cm^2$ of the yield stress and below 350 cPs of the plastic viscosity by the coaxial cylinder viscometer.

  • The leaky dispersion characteristics of a circular dielectric rod were investigated using Davidenko's method for several lower-order transverse magnetic(TM) modes. The normalized complex propagation constants were precisely determined and their tolerances below $10^{-10}$ compared with zero for both real and imaginary parts. It was also checked whether the normalized complex propagation constants obtained represented forward leaky waves. The leaky modes existing below the cutoff frequency of the guided mode were classified as a nonphysical mode, reactive mode, antenna mode, and spectral gap based on a precise determination of the complex propagation constants. Finally, the effects of the dielectric constant and radius of the dielectric rod on the leaky dispersion characteristics were also considered.

  • An experimental study of pool boiling behavior on micro-porous enhanced square heater surfaces immersed in PF5060 is performed. The effects of heater orientation, Subcooling and substrate distance on the pool boiling heat transfer performance for the double heaters were investigated under increasing heat-flux conditions. The boiling performance of micro-porous coated surface was better than that of plain surface. The double heaters with upper substrate of 0.2cm substrate interval have lower boiling performances compared with the results for the double heaters with that of 0.5cm and 1.0cm substrate interval and without the substrate. In comparison to upper heater and below heater with orientation, the upper heater has lower superheat temperature than the below heater due to the bubble sweeping.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose scientific data and to develop complex\ulcornermultifunctional fibers by applying microcapsules containing rosewood oil on wool fabric. Polyurea was used as wall material of microcapsules. The parameters for adoptable condition are 20min of agitation time, 5000rpm of agitation speed, 4% of emulsifier concentration according to the observation with SEM and particle analyzer. The melting peak of microcapsules was shown to be 280$^{\circ}C$ The amount of released rosewood from microcapsules at 25$^{\circ}C$ was below 1 % and at 40% was below 3%. Therefore, polyurea microcapsules is capable of preserving rosewood oil for long self-life at normal temperature. Antimicrobial activity to dry cleaning and ironing cycle of wool fabric treated with microcapsules were maintained.

  • Miami Isopycnic Coordinate Ocean Model is applied to the East Sea to estimate the renewal time of the upper Intermediate Water The model gives about 10 years of renewal time. Extrapolating this result to the whole water mass below, including the upper Intermediate Water, leads to about 81.4 years of renewal time, which is quite comparable to that obtained by Kim and Kim (1997) based on the recent observations. Deep winter mixing occurs in the north of the basin. The areas of the largest water mass conversion, from the upper mixed to the intermediate below, are along the periphery of the deep mixing zone. Large portion of the renewed Intermediate Water then advects along the Korean and Japanese coasts. It is concluded that the high-oxygen content Intermediate Water found off the Korean coast (Kim and Chung, 1984) is in part locally formed but mostly advected from the deep mixing zone.
