Monitoring fish movement is important to understand how physiology adapts to environmental change. To explore the applicability of a video tracking system for determining if chemical cues attract or repel aquatic animals, the movement patterns of rock bream, Oplegnathus fasciatus, were analyzed upon exposure to various materials, including extracts of sea urchin, rock worm, bait worm, krill, barley kernel, and commercial fish feed. Pellets were prepared by mixing freeze-dried tissues with a cellulose and corn flour mixture. Behavioral analysis was carried out with five fish that had been acclimated in the adaptation zone of a Y-shaped tank. Preference toward chemical cues was quantified by assessing the frequency rock bream were observed in a discrete zone around the test material located at the end of each arm and the duration each fish stayed in each zone. The analysis of fish movement upon exposure to commercial feed and barley kernel at each end, respectively, indicated a clear preference toward the feed relative to the barley kernel. Movement responses were further tested with pellets containing extracts of sea urchin, one of the species collected on a large scale, and other materials including krill and worms. A stronger preference toward sea urchin (100%) was observed based on the duration of stay in the test zone, compared to krill (90.1 ± 44.2%), bait worm (81.1 ± 39.1%), rock worm (73.7 ± 28.9%), and barley (63.9 ± 25.9%), under the conditions tested. A detailed comparison of rock bream movements toward each material revealed significant differences in frequency and duration, respectively, between pairs of test materials including krill (74 ± 29.8 and 375.6 ± 118.9) vs. rock worm (41.5 ± 18.7 and 160.2 ± 42.6), krill (86.3 ± 22.9 and 477.1 ± 84) vs. bait worm (36.2 ± 5.5 and 166.1 ± 50.7), and rock worm (45.9 ± 26.2 and 213.7 ± 100.1) vs. bait worm (34.6 ± 21.7 and 159.5 ± 98.5). Rock bream exhibited preference for the test materials in the following order: commercial fish feed > sea urchin > krill > rock worm > bait worm > barley. The results suggest a higher potency of sea urchin extract as a rock bream fishing bait compared to the other materials that are used as commercial bait.
The purpose of this study is to examine predictors of move intention to welfare housing in Korea. Participants completed a questionnaire which included measures of socioeconomic variables, variables of the theory of planned behavior. The data was collected from 380 elderly women over the age of 60 in Korea. This study was examined by statistical analysis on SPSS program 18.0. The results of this study are as follows. First, the attitude of elderly women have a positive effect on welfare housing. Second, the subjective norm of elderly women have a positive effect on welfare housing. Third, the perceived behavioral control of elderly women positively effect on welfare housing. The results of this study prove that attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control is part of the theory of planned behavior. The finding shows that modified, the theory of planned behavior can be used as a guide in predicting behavioral intention. we should be responsible for the follow-up and monitoring of situations and reevaluate periodically to ensure that needs are being met and services are appropriate. These things are very important to succeed for senior citizens in Korea.

The critical low temperature and response of the behavioral tolerance of red sea bream Pagrus major fingerlings were determined using the continuous behavior monitoring system (CBMS). The behavior of the experimental organisms was observed by decreasing the water temperature by 2.0℃ and 4.0℃ every 12 hours and 24 hours in the range of 8.0-20.0℃. An unstable behavior pattern was observed in red seabream fingerlings exposed to water temperatures below 12.0℃, in which the swimming activity decreased and repeatedly stopped, regardless of the exposure time and water temperature fluctuation. The swimming ability of the organisms exposed to 8.0-10.0℃ decreased sharply, and the behavior of staying at the bottom of the test tank was observed. Only 50 % of the organisms survived due to the low-temperature stress, and all individuals died within six hours after the cold shock. In addition, the behavior index (BI) decreased rapidly, and the amplitude change of the coefficient of variation (CV) was found to have a greater variation than the other water temperatures (p<0.05). Low-temperature stress of red sea bream is promoted at 12.0℃, and it is interpreted as the tolerance limit, which can induce a sublethal response of the organisms exposed to cold shock of 8.0-10.0℃.

In this paper, a sensor-based monitoring system was established to analyze the long-term behavioral characteristics of the caisson quay wall, a representative structural type in port facilities. Data was collected over a period of approximately 10 months. Based on existing literature, anomalous behaviors of port facilities were classified, and a measurement system was selected to detect them. Monitoring systems were installed on-site to periodically collect data. The collected data was transmitted and stored on a server through LTE network. Considering the site conditions, inclinometers for measuring slope and crack meters for measuring spacing and settlement were installed. They were attached to two caissons for comparison between different caissons. The correlation among measured data, temperature, and tidal level was examined. The temperature dominated the spacing and settlement data. When the temperature changed by approximately 50 degrees, the spacing changed by 10 mm, the settlement by 2 mm, and the slope by 0.1 degrees. On the other hand, there was no clear relationship with tidal level, indicating a need for more in-depth analysis in the future. Based on the characteristics of these collected database, it will be possible to develop algorithms for detecting abnormal states in gravity-type quay walls. The acquisition and analysis of long-term data enable to evaluate the safety and usability of structures in the event of disasters and emergencies.
The main objective of this study was to offer informations about long-term seepage behavioral characteristics and to find a leakage safety management method for Juam Dam and Imha Dam, a central cored rockfill dams in Korea by the evaluating the automatically monitored leakage data. In the water leakage monitoring of fill dam, the generation of abnormal water leakage is difficult to directly detect due to the effect of outside factors such as the component of rainfall inherent in the observation value. Therefore, conventionally estimation methods of water leakage quantity were applied by multiple regression analysis considering reservoir water level, rainfall, etc.. However, the estimated error of rainfall component is relatively big in these method. This paper identifies the seepage characteristic of each dams which is not directly affected by rainfall through the hydrograph separation analysis and 3 dimensional analytical method, and thinks a leakage management method. It was noticed that two dams had site specific seepage behaviour features and were in stable state with the decreasing leakage quantity. It was also found that hydrograph separation method might be applicable to leakage safety management method.
The purposes of this study are first, to plan communication strategies for promoting the 1st National Science Festival and other events of the April 1997's Science Month in Koreas; second, to monitor communication activities done for those events; third, to evaluate effects of communication activities. Both the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Korea Science Foundation were arranged to execute our planned communication strategies. Basically we utilized the three sequences of human behavioral condition : Exposure, attention, and cognition. For planning, we suggested concrete communication strategies for each sequence, for example, first, those for bringing exposure to every event, second, those for bringing attention to the event, and third, those for bringing cognition of the event. Those communication strategies were suggested to use specifics of newspapers, television programs, radio programs, commercial and corporate magazines, electric visual sign advertisements on the street, and computer communication. For monitoring and evaluation, we used the same three sequences as the criteria. For example, we monitored and evaluated how much exposure, attention or cognition an event got or which specific medium contributed to exposure to, cognition of an event. For monitoring, graduate students were dispatched to examine each event through watching and interviewing. For evaluation, about 950 of event participants and non-participants were surveyed by means of face-to-face interview. Overall, we found that newspaper articles and television programs contributed a lot to people's exposure to events of the April 1997's Science Month. Especially, newspaper played a major role of heightening exposure. However, most events and/or their science and technology content failed to get salient attention and its following active cognition. The 1st National Science Festival attracted much exposure, but had some problems of disorder and commercialism. This sharp increase of exposure and some attention were believed to have reinforced people's, especially event participants' positive opinion of science and technology which is part of scientific culture.

The submerged floating tunnel (SFT) is tethered by mooring lines anchored to the seabed, therefore, the structural integrity of the anchor should be sensitively managed. Despite their importance, reaction forces cannot be simply measured by attaching sensors or load cells because of the structural and environmental characteristics of the submerged structure. Therefore, we propose an effective method for estimating the reaction forces at the seabed anchor of a submerged floating tunnel using a structural pattern model. First, a structural pattern model is established to use the correlation between tunnel motion and anchor reactions via a deep learning algorithm. Once the pattern model is established, it is directly used to estimate the reaction forces by inputting the tunnel motion data, which can be directly measured inside the tunnel. Because the sequential characteristics of responses in the time domain should be considered, the long short-term memory (LSTM) algorithm is mainly used to recognize structural behavioral patterns. Using hydrodynamics-based simulations, big data on the structural behavior of the SFT under various waves were generated, and the prepared datasets were used to validate the proposed method. The simulation-based validation results clearly show that the proposed method can precisely estimate time-series reactions using only acceleration data. In addition to real-time structural health monitoring, the proposed method can be useful for forensics when an unexpected accident or failure is related to the seabed anchors of the SFT.
The red fox (Vulpes vulpes) is currently identified as a restoration target species, because it is listed as level 1 in the Korean National Park Service's endangered species list. The present research was conducted to investigate the basic behavioral patterns distribution of red foxes. For this study, red foxes under semi-natural conditions were observed and recorded from May 2012 to April 2013. The results revealed that the activities of the red foxes began at $16:59{\pm}01:20t$ and ended at an average time of $05:50{\pm}03:02t$. The males began and ended their activities earlier than their female counterparts. Among the seasonal activity durations, the longest activity duration was observed in summer with activity of 14 hours and 5 minutes, while the shortest activity duration was observed in winter with activity periods of 10 hours and 11 minutes. Generally, the red foxes exhibited a nocturnal behavioral pattern; the activity start time of the foxes was influenced by the sunset time. However, the activity end time showed no relationship with the sunrise time. The frequency of daily feeding activity ranged from one to eight times per day, with the males ($2.40{\pm}1.66$) exhibiting higher frequency than their female counterparts ($1.87{\pm}1.24$). The feeding activity peaked in November (average, 3.52 times per day) and was lowest in January (average, 1.28 times per day). Both males and females engaged in daily drinking activity (average, $2.03{\pm}1.296$ times per day). Thus, the increase in the frequency of the feeding activity is related to increase in the frequency of the drinking activity. Although the present research was conducted under semi-natural condition, the findings will be useful for the daily specification management of the species, monitoring of the released foxes, and habitat management based on the behavioral characteristics of the species.
Stress is now recognized as a universal premorbid factor associated with many risk factors of various chronic diseases. Acute stress may induce an individual's adaptive response to environmental demands. However, chronic, excessive stress causes cumulative negative impacts on health outcomes through "allostatic load". Thus, monitoring the quantified levels of long-term stress mediators would provide a timely opportunity for prevention or earlier intervention of stressrelated chronic illnesses. Although either acute or chronic stress could be quantified through measurement of changes in physiological parameters such as heart rate, blood pressure, and levels of various metabolic hormones, it is still elusive to interpret whether the changes in circulating levels of stress mediators such as cortisol can reflect the acute, chronic, or diurnal variations. Both serum and salivary cortisol levels reveal acute changes at a single point in time, but the overall long-term systemic cortisol exposure is difficult to evaluate due to circadian variations and its protein-binding capacity. Scalp hair has a fairy predictable growth rate of approximately 1 cm/month, and the most 1 cm segment approximates the last month's cortisol production as the mean value. The analysis of cortisol in hair is a highly promising technique for the retrospective assessment of chronic stress. [BMB Reports 2015; 48(4): 209-216]

Chronic disease may leads to other life threatening health complications like heart disease, stroke, diabetes and peripheral vascular disease that diminished quality of life. This paper points out the importance of social interaction and smart space integration in existing CDSS for chronic diseases. Social interaction allows the patients to interact with system, through this continuous learning and digesting patient experience, our CDSS becomes intelligent and dynamically enhanced. Smart spaces automatically provide new knowledge and construct the behavioral profile by monitoring the daily life activities. Through these features, patients can get continuous relevant recommendations from the system, so they can get a chance to improve their health condition which in terms keeping on their quality of life. It also helps the health practitioners in better decision making about medication and living patterns.
