  • An numerical analysis of sediment-laden flow is carried out, and results are compared with the experiments of Coleman(1981, 1986) that included the several cases varying sediment size and quantity in open channel flow. K-$\omega$ turbulence model is selected for the fully turbulent flow field, and the concentration equation considering the fall velocity is adopted for the concentration field. The model of Einstein and Chien(1955) is applied to couple the velocity field and the concentration field. Most of researches have been carried out without considering the bed-load thickness, but it is found that the bed-load thickness cannot be ignored in case of a large amount of sediment or a large size of it. The bed-load thickness and surface roughness are considered in this study. Here, $\beta$ value, which is defined by the reciprocal of turbulent Schmidt number and is related with the concentration profile, is found to be varied according to the sediment size and quantity. Even though most of researchers have insisted that $\beta$ had always larger than 1.0, it may be concluded that $\beta$ can have smaller value than 1.0, that is coincident with the report of recent research.

  • Prediction of turbidity due to fine-grained bed material load under wave action is critical to any assessment of anthropogenic impart on the coastal or lacustrine environment Waves tend to loosen mud deposits and generate steep suspension concentration gradients, such that the sediment load near the bottom is typically orders of magnitude higher than that near the surface. In a physically realistic but simplified manner, a simple mass conservation principle has been used to simulate the evolution of fine sediment concentration profiles and corresponding erodible bed depths under progressive, nonbreaking wave action over mud deposits. Prior field observations support the simulated trends. which reveal the genesis of a near-bed. high concentration fluidized mud layer coupled with very low surficial sediment concentrations. It is concluded that estimation of the depth of bottom erosion requires an understanding of mud dynamics and competent in situ sediment concentration profiling. Measurement of sediment concentration at the surface alone, without regard to the near-bed zone, can lead to gross underestimation of the erodible bed depth.

  • In the rail facilities the rail track consists of rail tie fastening accessories and bed,. The rail track is largely divided into Ballast Bed Track(BBT) and Concrete Bed Track(CBT) according to the type of bed. In this thesis among Concrete Bed Track slab track which is used for the Japanese high speed railway is a target of this study. Dynamic analysis by using finite element method are performed. where moving rain load is periodic function. Then through parametric study some conclusions are obtained as follow. Cement Asphalt Mortar(CAM) affects contrary mechanical behavior to rail and slab greatly. Therefore change of CAM spring coefficient should be handled with care, For slab thickness thin slab is more profitable to reduction of vibration of rail than thick one but mechanical capacity of slab is deteriorated, Improved structural type is proposed then structural analysis is performed for this one. This type is effective to reduction of vibration of railway system.

  • This paper reports the development of test bed with the energy recovering technique using two-step boost converter. The device is utilized for LDC aging test of Hyundai Motor's LPI AVANTE HEV in mass production. The developed power recycle type test bed is designed as 1.5 kW class to test up to the maximum load power of LDC and is also designed to supply scant power supply up to 500 W after power recycle. The theoretical design analysis and operational characteristics analysis results of test bed are reported, and its practicality and reliability are verified through the test result. Also, the finally developed test bed confirms approximately 79~85 % energy saving effect compared to the usual traditional aging test system.

  • The flow and bed change were analyzed using the CCHE2D model, which is a two-dimensional numerical model, at a confluence of the Namhan River and Seom River where deposition occurs predominantly after the "Four Major Rivers Restoration Project." The characteristic of the junction is that the tributary of Seom River joined into the curved channel of the main reach of the Namhan River. The CCHE2D model analyzes the non-equilibrium sediment transport, and the adaptation lengths for the bed load and suspended load are important variables in the model. At the target area, the adaptation length for the bed load showed the greatest influence on the river bed change. Numerical simulation results demonstrated that the discharge ratio ($Q_r$) change affected the flow and bed change in the Namhan River and Seom river junction. When $Q_r{\leq}2.5$, the flow velocity of the main reach increased before confluence, thereby reducing the flow separation zone and decreasing the deposition inside the junction. When $Q_r$>2.5, there was a high possibility that deposition would be increased, thereby forming sand bar. Numerical simulation showed that a fixed sand bar has been formed at the junction due to the change of discharge ratio, which occurred in 2013.

  • The artificial sewage was treated using a vertical flow zeolite-filled reed bed. The artificial sewage was fec into the reed bed for 10 minutes every 6 hours at the hydraulic load 314 L/$m^2$ \ulcorner day. The filtering height of the reed bed was 100 cm and the zeolite mixture was filled in the reed bed. The mixture consisted of the same volume of two types of zeolites ; 0.5~1 mm and 1~3 mm in diameter. Annual average removal efficiency was CO$D_{Cr}$ 95.1%, T-N 49.5%, $NH{_4^+}$-N 99.4% and T-9 56.4%. T-N removal efficiency decreaced remarkably from 73 to 27% with the operating time. Most of T-P was adsorbed in the uper area of the reed bed. The major portion of adsorbed phosphorus was composed of Fe-, Ca- and reductant selubele Fe-P.

  • The analytical approach to determine transverse sand bed slope at river bend are based on two phases that the flow is considered as fully developed flow and the bed is fluvial having bed load. All existing methods are theoretically derived from the initiation of motion of the particles at river bed. They assume that the Shields parameter has a constant value of 0.06. In this study, the variability of Shields parameter due to the differences of shape of grain size distribution is considered. Therefore the parameter is not a constant, 0.06, but depends on the shape of the grain size distribution. This result gives good agreement to estimate transverse bed slope with actual field data at river bend.

  • Previously sailing yachts or leisure yachts were mainly made from FRP(Fiber glass reinforced plastic) in the small shipbuilding, but recently there is a trend to replace it for steel or aluminum to substitute FRP for environmental friendly materials. Although It have to need a many checked item in case of hull girder strength and transverse strength normally evaluate base on calculation of class guideline so called direct calculation method. Otherwise. this method of initial structural design considered enough for safety margin on the structure. But, case of small craft must consider for evaluating local strength through rational method. In this paper, check the bow structure members for satisfying results base on allowable stress criterion of damaged bow structure by dynamic load due to slamming and bottom impact load due to pitching motion through finite element analysis. and investigate engine bed structure considering engine weight load and transverse wave load.
