  • In this study, the basic concept of design response spectrum is briefly revi-ewed. To generate the artificial earthquake acceleration, the method of superpo-sition of cosine waves is used. Theoretical developments using F.F.T. and spect-ral density function are compared. The amplitude was derived by use of the peak factor and the phase angle is d-erived by use of Monte Carlo simulation. To smoothen the match, the calculated pseudo velocity respon-se spectrum is compared with input pseudo velocity response spectrum at a set of control frequencies. With the modified spectral density function, a new acceleration and pseudo velocity response spectrum are generat-ed.

  • In this paper, a flux linkage model based on four magnetization curves fitting is proposed for three-phase 12/8 switched reluctance motor (SRM), with the analysis of the basic principle of flux detection method and function analysis method. In the model, the single value function mapping relationship between position angle and flux is established, which can achieve a direct estimation of rotor position. The realization scheme of SRM indirect position detection system is presented. It is proved by simulation and experiment that the proposed scheme is suitable for rotor position detection of SRM, and has high accuracy of position estimation.

  • This paper describes the forced flame response in a turbulent premixed gas turbine combustor. The fuel was premixed with the air upstream of a choked inlet to avoid equivalence ratio fluctuations. To impose the inlet flow velocity, a siren type modulation device was developed using an AC motor, rotating and static plates. Measurements were made of the velocity fluctuation in the nozzle using hot wire anemometry and of the heat release fluctuation in the combustor using chemiluminescence emission. The test results showed that flame length as well as geometry was strongly dependent upon modulation frequency in addition to operating conditions such as inlet velocity. Convection delay time between the velocity perturbation and heat release fluctuations was calculated using phase information of the transfer function, which agreed well with the results of flame length measurements. Also, basic characteristics of the flame nonlinear response shown in the current test conditions were introduced.

  • High resolution spectroscopic observations of BX And using the BOBS (Bohyunsan Optical Echelle Spectrograph) of Bohyunsan Optical Astronomical Observatory (BOAO) were performod during 26-27, Feb. 2003. From the observations, we obtained 38 line spectra of BX And which cover all phases except the phase interval between $0.^p1$ and $0.^p3$. Both methods of the CCF (Cross-Correlation Function) and BF (Broadening Function) were used to get the radial velocities of primary and secondary components. Both velocities of the primary and secondary stars were calculated with the BF method while only primary velocities were determined with the CCF. Using new radial velocity curves, the maximum radial velocities of the primary and secondary stars were obtained as $K_1=90.1km/s\;and\;K_2=196.6km/s$, respectively. New absolute dimension of BX And was deduced with the combination of our spectroscopic solution with the photometric one of Bell et al. (1990).

  • The frequency response characteristics of a condenser were numerically studied for the control of refrigeration and air conditioning systems. The important parameters, such as the refrigerant flow rate, refrigerant temperature, air velocity, and air temperature at the condenser inlet, were analyzed. Superheated vapor, two phase, and subcooled liquid domain in condenser can be described by using the energy balance equation and the mass balance equation in refrigerant and tube wall, the basic equation for describing the dynamic characteristics of condenser can be derived. The transfer function for describing dynamic response of the condenser to disturbances can be obtained from using linearizations and Laplace transformations of the equation. From this transfer function, analytical investigation which affects the frequency responses of condenser has been made. Block diagrams were made based on the analytic transfer function; dynamic responses were evaluated in Bode diagrams on the frequency response. Through this study, it became possible that the information about the dynamic characteristics of air-cooled condenser is offered. The results may be used for determining the optimum design parameters in actual components and entire systems. Also, the mathematical models, frequency response may be used to help understanding, evaluate optimum design parameters, design control systems and determine on setting the best controller for the refrigeration and air-conditioning systems.

  • A full bridge type double resonant high frequency resonant inverter to give VVVF function in the inverter used as power source of induction heating at high frequency is presented in this paper. This proposed inverter can reduce distribution of the switching current because of using the current of serial resonant circuit to the input current of the parallel one and this paper also realize the output control of independence irrespective of the switching frequency using Phase-shift. The analysis of the proposed circuit is generally described by using the normalized parameters. Also, the principle of basic operating and the its characteristics are estimated by the parameters, such as switching frequency, the variation of phase angle ($\phi$) of Phase-shift.

  • In VE(Value Engineering) process, function analysis technique is utilized as a stepping stone to induce creative idea. However, function analysis is regarded as the most difficult job for VE team to undertake. For this reason, the function analysis is not properly applied or even omitted in construction VE studies. The current problems of function analysis in construction VE are following: 1) lack of basic understanding of the function analysis as problem solving technique, 2) the sequential step-by-step analysis process, 3) lack of interrelationship between function analysis and other phase in th VE process, 4) lack of time, experience, training, and quantitative data etc. The existing function analysis is faultiness theoretically. However, it is not enough for efficient use in practice, Thus The study aims to suggest an function analysis application method and to develop a computerized FAST(function Analysis System Technique) diagramming model, called Easy-FAST, for the efficient and effective function analysis on construction VE projects.

  • 3D concrete printing technology builds structural components layer-by-layer with concrete extruded through a nozzle without using forms. This technology can simplify construction processes by optimizing design flexibility, construction time, and cost. Furthermore, the 3D printing technology is easy to make an irregularly shaped and function embedded building(or object) which is difficult to be constructed by conventional construction method. However, the 3D printing concrete is not suitable for current commercial standard and the material itself. It is also difficult to apply it to the construction site due to the lack of initial strength and the nozzle which is clogged during the process. The research of mix proportion design process for 3D printing concrete which differs from the conventional concrete is necessary in order to solve the problems. This paper aims to calculate the 3D printing concrete mix proportion design process based on the mix materials and performance information derived from the previous researches. Therefore, the usage variation range, mutual influence relationship, and the importance priority of the mix proportion are analyzed. Based on this results, the basic design process of 3D printing concrete which contains planning design phase, basic design phase and validating performance phase is suggested. We anticipate to confirm applicability verification about the actual production by referring to this 3D printing concrete mix proportion study. In the future, this study can be utilized for blueprint of the 3D printing concrete mix proportion.

  • The Experimental calibration method has been investigated to correct d-spacing estimation and to identify phases in the electron diffraction data acquired by imaging plates. When the diffraction data from the imaging plate was corrected by the d-spacing calibration method with the radial intensity distribution plotting in this experiment, The accuracy of d-spacing estimation was significantly increased in errors of about 0.5%. The experimental calibration equation followed up the first order exponential decay function was derived from the trace of d-spacing deviation between the measured and the calculated values. It was applied to the analysis of d-spacing and the phase identification of the transitional phases formed from [001] gibbsite specimen by electron beam irradiation effect. In this case more accurate phase identification and d-spacing evaluation is possible for the transitional phases whose diffraction patterns are complicatedly superimposed. It is concluded that ${\chi}$-alumina, ${\gamma}$-alumina and ${\sigma}$-alumina are clearly identified as the major transitional phases formed from gibbsite by electron beam irradiation for 120 min.

  • Recently, PWM Buck AC-AC Converter is widely employed in various industrial applications such as voltage and power regulator, electronic transformer, phase shifter and so on. This paper presents static and dynamic modeling and complete characteristic analysis of a PWM Buck AC-AC converter. Firstly, the three phase converter system is modelled by using DQ transformation whereby we can obtain basic characteristic equations such as voltage gain and power factor as well as state equation and transfer function for control. Secondly, based on the analysis, the feedforward-feedback control technique is also proposed to obtain instantaneous duty level change whereby very fast dynamic response is achieved. Finally, the experimental results show the validity of the modeling, analysis and control.
