  • In this study a new phase separated spectral analysis algorithm is proposed to identify CSB vibration mode directly from ex-core neutron signals. Ex-core neutron signals can be decomposed into the global, core support barrel (CSB) beam mode, and CSB shell mode components by the new phase separation algorithm based on the characteristics of Fourier transform. By using the proposed algorithm and the conventional spectral analysis the vibration mode of the CSB and the fuel assembly of Ulchin-1 NPP were identified from measured ex-core neutron signals.

  • In this paper, we presented a switching-based control algorithm for improving the speed of response on temperature control of an extruder. We proposed a switching actuating value method in a temperature control of extruder and showed the effect of H$\infty$ control and PID control. Recently, the memoryless feedback control had proposed, which was not only the real time integration element, but also the memory elements. We examined the application of a switching actuating value method to a memoryless feedback, in a unit barrel temperature control of an extruder.

  • This paper presents vision based inspection system for defects of industrial wire harness. Five type of nonconformities facter such as barrel deform, projected wire, overcoating, rack of wire length, over-strip is considered. Developed inspectio algorithmn has been tested on real specimens from a wire harness factory. Experimental results show that the inspection algorithm an has a good performance.

  • The energy supplied by motor of extruder, being known mostly to be dissipated as heat, was classified into two kinds of energy: a thermal energy by heat dissipation and a purely mechanical energy. The thermal energy was defined as a energy in terms of temperature rise and the mechanical energy as the motor energy minus the heat dissipated energy. A method to derive the thermal energy and the relative mechanical energy (the mechanical energy calculated regarding the mechanical energy at the lowest screw speed as zero) under the condition of constant barrel temperature was developed by which an extrusion case was analyzed. When extruding com grits with moisture $(27{\sim}37%)$ at low barrel temperature $({\leq}80^{\circ}C)$, the thermal energy slightly increased with increase in the moisture content, whereas the relative mechanical energy increased to a great extent. When increasing the screw speed, the thermal energy was nearly kept constant, whereas the relative mechanical energy largely varied. It is concluded that as the moisture content increases, the role of the mechanical energy becomes more effective than the heat energy dissipated from the motor energy.

  • When shooting small arms, the inner surface temperature is heated up to about $700{\sim}1,000^{\circ}C$ by the friction of the bullet and the inner wall of the barrel and the combustion of propellant. High-temperature propellant gas and high-speed movement of the bullet cause corrosion of the inner wall, which is noticeable immediately in front of the chamber. In this study, the mechanical properties of Cr-Mo-V steel, which is the base material, were tested using Taguchi experimental design to find the best nitriding treatment conditions. For the nitriding process, the working time, salt bath temperature, and salt concentration were combined as three conditions and placed in the $L_9(3^4)$, orthogonal array table. The thicknesses of the white layer and the nitrogen diffusion layer were measured after nitriding under each condition in a salt bath furnace. Durability was evaluated by measuring the degree of dispersion through actual shooting because it was difficult to evaluate the mechanical properties of the cylinder inner structure. As a result, it was confirmed that the durability was optimal at $565^{\circ}C$, 1 hour, 0.5%. These optimal conditions were selected by the statistical analysis of the Minitab program(ver.17).

  • The goal of this study is to analyze the effects of the second energy tax reform of the transportation sector in Korea. For this purpose, we estimated the elasticities of energy demand(for gasoline, diesel and LPG) by using the ARDL(Auto-Regressive Distributed Lag) Model during the period of 1997 and 2005. We have the empirical results that the demand for diesel would decrease as much as of 382 million barrel per year and the demand for LPG would increase as much as of 20 million barrel per year since 2007. The second energy tax reform would also result in the decrease of 27,346 ton of air pollutants and 0.96 million ton of carbon dioxide per year. This shows that the second energy tax reform would have achieved its own policy goals by reducing energy demand and improving the quality of environment.
