  • The object of this paper is to investigate the influence of antenna pattern on indoor radio channel characteristics. Different from previous works where this analysis was carried out at a fixed frequency using different antennas, in the present paper (where measurements were taken in a wide frequency range) the variation of the radiation pattern was caused by two factors: the change of the radiation pattern when the same antenna was used at different frequenicies and the use of different type of antennas. To carry out this analysis, frequency domain measurements of the indoor radio channel at 1 GHz, 5.5 GHz, 10 GHz and 18 GHz were collected. Measurements were taken using a network analyzer. Serveral re-alizations of the channel transfer function were obtained varying, for each measurement, the positon of the transmitter and keep-ing the receiver fixed. Estimate of the channel impulse response was obtained from the Inverse Fourier Transform (IFT) of the fre-quency response. The measurements were performed in an office enviroment with mostly metallic walls and inner separations. The obtained data were elaborated to obtain the power versus distance relationship, the Cummulative Distribution Functions(CDFs) of rms Delay Spread(DS) and of the 3 dB frequency correlation band-width. Finally, the 3 dB width of the frequency correlation func-tion has been empirically related to the inverse of the rms DS of the impulse response.

  • In this paper, we proposed a new W-band monopulse tracking system based on reflectarray antenna structure. The proposed reflectarray antenna monopulse tracking system consists of four feed horn antennas and a planar reflector using a microstrip reflectarray. The four feed horn antennas have a gain of 10 dBi and a half-power beam-width of 56 degrees symmetrically in the E/H plane. It was confirmed that the reflectarray antenna using one feed horn antenna has a size of 41.8 × 41.8 mm2, a gain of 26.8 dBi, and a half-power beam-width of about 5.6 degrees. The reflectarray monopulse tracking system using 4 feeding horn antennas is well matched from 75 GHz to 90 GHz, and the isolation is secured by more than 10 dB. Finally, the proposed system shows the tracking range of 5.98 degrees and the tracking error range was 0.02 degrees.

  • We designed and fabricated partially shorted QMSAs(Quarter-Wavelength Microstrip Antennas) for 850[MHz]band on various Copper-clad Laminates substrates (TACONIC company), where the width of the radiation patch is identical with that of the ground plane and the radiation patch is partially shorted to the ground plane. The resonant frequencies and the return losses according to the electrical thickness were measured by reducing the PSW (Partially Shorted Width) to 0[mm]. As a result, a good characterized antenna with an average 11% reduced resonant length and a return loss -15.86~-30.68[㏈] was obtained when the total PSW was in the range of 70% of radiated patch width, compared to the conventional QMSA.

  • We designed and fabricated symmetrical partially shorted MSAs for 850 MHz band on various Copper-clad Laminates substrates, where the width of the radiation patch is identical with that of the ground plane and the radiation patch is partially shorted to the ground plane. The resonant frequency, return loss and input impedance due to the permittivity(2.5, 3.5, 10.0) and thickness(0.76~1.57 mm, 6 types) were measured by reducing the PSW (Partially Shorted Width) to 0 mm. As a result, good characterized antennas with average 11% reduced resonant length and return loss 7.288~29.445 dB were obtained when the total PSW was in the range of 70% of radiated patch width, compared to the conventional λ/4 MSA.

  • The printed wide band monopole antenna having characteristics of dipole by modified coplanar wave guide(CPW) ground plane is presented. We are called a slot-arm printed monopole antenna and investigated the effect of the surface currents of the radiator on ground plane. The proposed antenna is treated as two asymmetric dipoles with the included angle of $90^{\circ}$ degrees which lie along Z-direction symmetrically. It is observed that the effect of the surface currents on the radiation patterns is similar to that of the corresponding dipole. The length and width of the ground plane correspond the radius and length of the dipole respectively. This approach is also valid to general printed monopole antennas. The simulation impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna the range of 2.4 to 4.6 [GHz] for a voltage stand wave ratio (VSWR)${\leq}$2 and got pick gain of 6 [dBi]. So the proposed antenna is satisfied the requirement of the industry science medical (ISM) band operation.

  • We present measurement results of the fabricated ultra wideband corrugated horn for the planned ASTE band7+8 receiver. Return loss and vector beam pattern measurements were carried out over 275-500 GHz frequency range. Hardware set-ups for these measurements are described as well as beam measurement data are compared with such design criteria as beam width, phase curvature and cross-polarization. We discuss the impact of these beam measurement results to the aperture efficiency of the proposed 2-mirror receiver optics for the ASTE telescope.

  • An off-axis four-mirror-anastigmatic telescope is presented here which is composed of two aspheric surfaces and two spherical surfaces. The entrance pupil diameter is 290 mm and the stop is located at the primary mirror. The effective focal length is 900 mm. The strip field of view for the telescope is $15^{\circ}{\times}0.2^{\circ}$ and if the telescope is launched into an orbit about 400 km altitude, the observed range width will be more than 105 km within a scene without any other auxiliary scanning instrument. The spectral range can be as wide as from visual wave band to infrared wave band in the mirror system. This telescope can be used for environmental monitoring with different detectors whose pixel is adapted to the optical resolution. In this paper, the spectral range is chosen as 3.0 -5.0 ${\mu}m$, and center distance of the pixel is 30 ${\mu}m$. And the image quality is near the diffraction limit.

  • We present a noble method to determine BH mass of many AGNs directly through reverberation mapping using a small telescope with wide-field of view. In 2017 August we installed five medium-band filters to a 0.25m diameter $5deg^2$ FOV telescope at the McDonald observatory. The width of these filters (FWHM ~ 50nm) are matched to the broad line width of type-1 AGNs at various redshifts. From recently obtained data, about r ~ 19 magnitude AGNs can be detected in line component with 150s exposure. With this magnitude limit, about 20~30 AGNs can be studied in one field. We plan to carry out at one day cadence observation over 20~30 fields, enabling us to monitor up to ~1000 AGNs over a wide range of variability. This poster presents out plan and early results from test observation.

  • We designed and fabricated microstrip line fed QMSAs(Quarter-Wavelength Microstrip Antenna) for 850〔MHz〕 band on the CGP-500 Copper-clad Laminates substrate (CHUKOH company) with $\varepsilon$$_{r}$=2.6, H=1.6〔mm〕( $\pm$0.08), where the width of the radiation patch is identical with that of the ground plane. The resonant frequencies and the return losses were measured by reducing the PSW(Partially Shorted Width) to 0〔mm〕, step by step, when the microstrip line width was 1.47〔mm〕, 2.93〔mm〕and 4.4〔mm〕separately. As a result, a good characterized antenna with a 11% reduced resonant length and a return loss -29.44〔㏈〕 was obtained when the total PSW was in the range of 70% of radiated patch width, compared to the conventional QMSA.A.
