This paper presents a V-band two-stage power amplifier integrated circuit using TSMC 65 nm CMOS process. The simple input, output, and inter-stage matching networks based on passive components are integrated. By compensating for power gain characteristics using a pre-distortion technique, the linearity of the power amplifier was improved. The implemented two-stage power amplifier showed a power gain of 10.4 dB, a saturated output power of 9.7 dBm, and an efficiency of 20.8 % with a supply voltage of 1 V at the frequency band of 58.8 GHz.

KRISS-V, a V-band millimeter-wave source module for a primary RF power standard and calibration system developed by the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science is here presented. The output power of KRISS-V is several times higher than that of commercial amplifier/multiplier chains and is highly stable (the standard deviations of output power are less than 0.01% in the worst case). The spectral purity of KRISS-V is high enough to consider it a single-tone signal generator. We also added programmable attenuation capability to KRISS-V for remote power control. Moreover, the in-house source module is cost-effective and adaptable to various measurement schemes. The structure of the model as well as detailed component information are introduced so that it can be reproduced.

In this paper, two configurations (T-type and Y-type) of dual band Wilkinson Power Divider based upon Hilbert curves are presented. Formerly, the concept of Hilbert Curves was implemented in only designing microstrip antennas. In power dividers, this is the very first attempt of incorporating them for size reduction. In addition to this, an effect of inculcation of high-dielectric constant layer (Hafnium-oxide, HfO2, εr= 25) between a substrate and top metallization in both configurations was investigated. The proposed configurations are designed on a high resistive silicon substrate (HRS) for L and S bands with resonating frequencies of 1.575 and 3.4 GHz. Both configurations have return loss that is better than 20 dB and an insertion loss of around 6 dB; isolation better than 30 dB was achieved for both models.
This paper deals with the design of decentralized controller for load-frequency control of interconnected power systems with superconducting magnetic energy storage units and Governor Dead Band Nonlinearity using Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithm. The superconducting magnetic energy storage unit exhibits favourable damping effects by suppressing the frequency oscillations as well as stabilizing the inter-area oscillations effectively. The proposed control strategy is mainly based on a compromise between Integral Squared Error and Maximum Stability Margin criteria. Analysis on a two-area interconnected thermal power system reveals that the proposed controller improves the dynamic performance of the system and guarantees good closed-loop stability even in the presence of nonlinearities and with parameter changes.

In this paper, a dual-band antenna is proposed for the RF power harvester system as well as RFID tag. The proposed antenna operates as the passive and active RFID tag antenna in the UHF and microwave band, respectively. In addition, to charge the battery of an active RFID tag in the microwave band, it harvest the RF signal for tagging from the passive RFID tag antenna in the UHF band. The proposed antenna operates in the UHF band (917~923.5 MHz) and microwave band (2.4~2.45 GHz). In order to obtain the dual-band operation, the dipole structure and meander parasitic elements are proposed as the ${\lambda}/2$ and $1{\lambda}$ dipole antenna, respectively. The radiating dipole structure in the microwave band acts as the coupled feed for the meander parasitic elements in the UHF band. The impedance bandwidth (VSWR < 2) of the proposed antenna covers 917~923.5 MHz (UHF band) and 2.4~2.45 GHz (Microwave band). Measured total efficiencies are over 45 % in the UHF band and over 70 % in the microwave band. Peak gains are over 0.18 dBi and 2.8 dBi in the UHF and microwave band with an omni-directional radiation pattern, respectively.
Muscle fatigue is characterized as a progressive increase in discomfort arising from the active muscle at moderate load levels are maintained. The median frequency is the most commonly used as a parameter to describe muscle fatigue. However, the estimate of the median frequency is difficult to indicate muscle fatigue because of its high standard deviation and instability. This paper investigates the power changes of the appropriate low frequency band as a fatigue parameter in EMG during isotonic exercise. To select the appropriate band, linear regression lines are employed to calculate the slopes and the coefficient of determination. Three females and seven males volunteered to participate in surface EMG recordings placed on the biceps brachii and each recording experiment continued until their exhaustion. The results of experiment shows that the power changes of the selected low frequency band (15~45 Hz) have linear slopes and high determinant coefficients. Therefore, this fatiguing parameter using the power changes of the low frequency band is valid to measure the state of muscular fatigue.

MMIC circuits in whole receiver system was fabricated based on GaAs pHEMT technology. And a V-band downconverter module was fabricated by integrating these circuits. The downconverter module consists of a LO drive power amplifier which generates 24dBm output power, a low noise amplifier(LNA) which shows 20 dB small signal gain, an active parallel feedback oscillator which generates 1.6 dBm output power, and a cascode mixer which shows over 6dB conversion gain. The good conversion gain performance of our mixer made no need to attach any IF amplifier which grows conversion gain. Measured results of the complete downconverter show a conversion gain of over 20 dB between 57.5 GHz and 61.7GHz without IF amplifier.

In this paper, the single port dual-band resonator for magnetic resonance wireless power transfer is proposed. The proposed dual-band resonator is consists of 20 turns spiral coil, a single loop, matching circuit, lumped elements, and a single port. The two sides of the matching circuit are connected to via holes. The spiral coil is operated at MF-band and single loop is operated at HF-band, respectively. We use two of the same structure resonators and simulated and the power transfer efficiency was calculated. The efficiency of simulation and measurement is above 60% at the MF and HF bands, and the distance is 100 mm.

In this paper, sub-harmonically pumped single balanced resistive mixers are presented . Frequency bandwidth is selected for a Ku-band, which is 11.75-12.25GHz for RF, 5.375∼5.625 GHz for LO, and 1 GHz for IF signals. A rat-race hybrid is designed for the accomplishment of single balanced type. A low pass filter (LPF) with photonic band gap(PBG) structure is used for good conversion loss and unwanted harmonics suppression. Two types of mixers are suggested, which are one with no gate bias for no DC power consumption and the other with the IF amplifier for conversion gain. When a LO signal with the power of 6 dBm at 5.5 GHz is injected, a conversion loss of 12.17dB and a conversion gain of 7.83 dB are obtained for each mixer. For the both mixers , LO to RF isolation of 20 dB and LO to IF isolation of 60dB are obtained. With the RF power of -30dBm to -3dBm, the mixer shows linear characteristics region of IF. this mixer can be applied for Ku-band and other microwave communication systems.
